You're right, you can't go back, but you can look for new things that excite you like the memory of your lost cars does.
If your story is true just think about the play that kid got out of them while they would have been under your bed gathering dust. He probably got 6 years of enjoyment out of your old cars. That's what they were supposed to be doing in the first place.
And they're little toy cars, it's not like you gave away a Mickey Mantle rookie card or some shit.
