Which is kind of stupid, because anime moves much faster than manga, so publishing new episodes on the season break is the best way to boost sales and create hype for the anime ("Can wait to see this fight in animated form!"), and that's another reason for filler arcs, just ask the fairy tail fans. Or don't, that thing is pretty bad and I don't want to imagine how it's fanbase must be.
Also, when an anime moves so fast it surpasses the manga, either it turns to shit and years later we get an updated and closer to the source version (Sailor moon, Full metal alchemist), or the manga must follow the anime premise and turns to shit (Akame ga kill), or just never ends, like X by Clamp.
