And where do you find glass shelves mostly? You really should pay more attention to the collection threads, where people like the idea of glass cases, not only because it's closed off, but because they think it's "classy" ie, like something from a department store. This shouldn't be surprising, considering there are people here who actually like the comic book store look as well.
Personally, I'm not even a fan of glass doors.
I'm not lazy and dust my shelves before they ever look dusty, and I rotate my stuff too.
"Open air" shelves are most fun, because you can just reach in there anytime and fiddle around with it. Needing to open and close the doors to touch your own stuff is as much of a hassle as leaving the toilet seat down.
