WoW sets did not sell well
They were overpriced, likely due to high licensing fees and mandates forced by Blizzard
They were odd choices for releases, not releasing main characters
Blizzard notoriously hard to work with, you can see countless lines almost come out and either have only a couple of releases then be cancelled or not even make it out at all
So the high price point and poor set/character choice turned people away from buying the initial sets, they were often found on clearance quickly, Blizzard no doubt bitched and moaned about this and made things even harder, so the license broke down and someone, or both, bailed.
