Transformers come in jets of all sizes, but my recommendations to you come in the Legends class; ~4 inch figures that go for around 10 USD.
Pic related features Powerglide (red) and Viper (blue). Turning into tiny A-10 Thunderbolts (or a legal approximate), these guys are a joy to swoosh around. Their plane modes are nicely pegged together, and they even have landing gear!
In robot mode, they have a good range of articulation. Their ball-jointed shoulders have a nice wide cut, their hinge elbows manage a really deep bend, and their legs -- with hinged feet and ball-jointed hips and knees -- can handle a good deal of posing.
The weakest aspect on this mold is the bonus gun mode, meant for large figures. It's not very convincing, and they end up being too heavy for most figures anyway.
Oh, and I gotta mention: Viper's colors reference the Cobra Rattler from GI Joe, even getting a headsculpt based on the figure that piloted the Rattler. His faction symbol does indeed feature the Cobra logo.
TL;DR: Viper or Powerglide from 2015's Combiner Wars line. Good toys.
