All that cheesey stuff back in the 1960s-70s was super fun and endearing. Still is.
But seeing that camp in 2004 made it "cringey" to me, and I don't bust out that word lightly.
I can't exactly out my finger on it, I think it was kind of like how it also felt like it was trying to be like a serious anime at times, but in live action, and 2004 special effects arent as fun as 60s-70s practical effects.
