Its more of a general thing. There's a ton of designs from things that will never get a new figure, let alone a really good one.Most Sentai/Power ranger designs, that aren't from the first few seasons of MMPR, for example, are destined to be abandoned.

this is crazy talk.
The original G1 Transformers aren't good looking and the diaclone art is pretty goofy.
All the Japanese transformer series are also ugly and look like a cross between crappy power ranger shit and clown gundams.

That said, Japanese transformers = Bayformers in terms of shittiness.

You're on /toy/, and that design philosophy doesn't work from an engineering standpoint. It's not even a trade-off for a pleasing aesthetic, since most of them look like junkyard scrap art inspired by Giger, but without most of the sex symbolism.

Everytime I look at Gundam designs I'm reminded of the METUHL BAWKSES meme from /tg/. They look so impractical and difficult to move around in. And the series themselves are total shit too. The only reasons why anyone likes Gundam is the legacy of the franchise and the Gunpla model kit system.
