love the movie, love the designs but is it me or is there still no clear non-promo photos of the SHM? I missed pre-order and am looking for it so I can see it in-hand... but it's also confusing to me how there aren't any reviews or fan photos of it that shows the paintjob that well.

Honestly the head sculpt already kind of feels off to me... so I'm wondering if I'm better with a sofubi of the design instead.

Ok, I'm kind of confused now. Honestly speaking it looks better in the video but at the same time... I'm having trouble seeing how it's worth the asking price that starts at ¥12,000.

Any seasoned SHM collector care to chime in? I've never owned any before but am a big fan of both the first movie and Shin G. Very interested in the SHM. I usually collect revoltech, SIC and some SHF. Would be nice to get inputs from people who love the line as to what to expect from it.

Arms however seem very fragile and can't move much (I guess like the movie)

Shin Godzilla is a lot more well thought out and straightforward than Eva rebuilds though. This "dissection" even is the one that's a bit silly to be called a dissection, everything the writer states is there to be seen in the movie's clear cut themes. A group of competent people who take pride in their job are much better than senior politicians concerned with all the wrong things vs a sudden, insurmountable force.

I really liked this new take on Godzilla. I saw the shorter version posted here and it seemed a little quick but I really appreciated the realistic tilt to the story. Every character in a dangerous situation is actually in a dangerous situation and not protected by plot armor. I felt conflicted on if I should dislike Godzilla for being destructive or feel bad for him because he is also clearly a victim. Wish it was an hour longer, seemed like it was on fast forward, especially the first half.

Except it isn't as the monsterarts is more articulated and has a better sculpt (especially the tail).
The only area NECA can win here is paint. If the paint job is amazing then at most it can be like is 15% better.

I'm not gonna argue that the NECA GMK is better than the shma, but I think the paint is REALLY well-done.

It's a nice matte green that actually looks kinda grey from a distance. The scales are also really well defined. Seriously the head-sculpt is the only sub-par thing on this figure.

Also the arm-movement and handbends are pretty great.

mileage depends. I watched the original cut, so I feel like this new shortened one takes a bit away. I actually really enjoyed the pacing of the original, in how it slows down at parts where the public officials are tired and sleeping along with the Shin G in stasis... then waking up and rushing, then solving the puzzle that they think they're facing slowly... but there's nothing cut from the scenes where Godzilla himself appears so it doesn't butcher the film.

I'd still recommend watching the full cut. Hope the US blu-ray release will include the full cut instead of just one version of the other.

Standing up straight is kinda irrelevant given the design(he can still look level), but he can shift all the way down or side to side.

For under $25 he has been more fun to pose than either of my SHMA Godzillas.

Ahh, I've seen this in the 2ch page. Apparently some copies have their shoulder joints put in upside down. So what you do is to pop off his head and neck and then push out the shoulder joint that doesn't go all the way down from the inside (they say you may need to push it out using a pen or a pair of bamboo chopsticks, you need a bit of force for it) and then put it back so that it can go down.

From what I remember there's no need to use any hot water or anything but maybe take care disassembling him to be sure.

Man, I must get lucky with SHMA. I never encounter most of the issues people have complained about on recent releases. My Shin doesn't have the loose neck, the paint isn't the awful hack job I've seen on others...it's not perfect, but I actually really like this figure.

It really is too goddamned expensive, though. There's no excuse for it to cost almost as much as Destroyah did.

Gonna get the NECA for sure since their Godzillas have been getting better with each subsequent release and hope for a Spitfire-esque improved variant from Bandai.
