Just be careful, big shifts in temperature can do damage to plastic toys. Thankfully G2 plastic is pretty durable, but thin trans pieces are prone to developing hairline cracks. I'm mostly thinking of the Skellies' orange claws.

I haven't had any G2 sets break apart on me, but back when I bought Transformers, there were figures I could only transform at certain points of the year. In Summer, their plastic got thick and immobile, and in Winter, their joints would pop off at the slightest touch because they shrunk.

Most Bionicle parts aren't as frail, but I've been having fears about them snapping. A lot of my G1 parts broke on my displays, and I can't rule out that temperature had something to do with it (apart from dust and Lego's shitty plastic in general).

Got Phasma from a Secret Santa exchange last night, haven't bought any of the Star Wars figures before. She's pretty cool actually, and way taller of a figure than I expected. Neat parts though, like the shoulders, shins, and just all of those great silver shells.

Hey folks, Rollout here. Just thought I'd give those of you waiting over here on 4chan a little update as to what's going on with Cyber-Hand's MoUP project. He's been a bit busy lately as I understand, working through some commissions as well as running into problems with his printer and modeling software. On top of that, he's recently been working a new job that’ll be tightening up his schedule immensely for a little while. I've also been fairly busy myself in the last month or so, so consultation between us (and thus progress on the project) is taking a bit of a break. We'll also be waiting until scans from the upcoming G2 artbook have been published in hopes that there might be concept imagery within that which might help us see the mask from more angles before finalizing the finished 3D model as well.

I'm sure the more detail oriented among you will no doubt find that there's still a lot of tweaking to be done, some of which has been already been fixed since I screen-shot this comparison picture a little while ago. Hopefully we can find time to continue our work towards ironing the inaccuracies out before the end of the year, but until then sit tight and stay strong /biog/.

I really wish there was some kind of sub-category or super-category on BrickLink that grouped together ALL of the Bonkle, Hero Factory, New Bonkle, and compatible technic parts. Searching through to find specific parts in unintuitive categories is such a pain in the ass.

Bought it in polished metallic, then did a brown/grey wash and green/white drybrushing to bring it to life. It's ridiculously small but I wanted to ensure it would look good in hand before I dropped 30+ dollars on one of the larger ones.

Last pic. The hole unfortunately is too small so I committed some heresy to glue the end of this piece onto the pedestal. That way I can just plug the axle into there without having to buy a file to widen the hole. It's a lot simpler this way.

Lhikan really looked the same between when he was defending the Toa Fortress with the keystone, and 6000 years later when he created the Toa Metru. And by the time Lesovikk rescues Sarda in the pit, it was mentioned he met Karzahni "many, many thousands of years ago."
I'll just assume time is a little fucked after transitioning to Speherus Magna, or the Nuva age faster for plot convenience.

It's been years, but suddenly I've got a hankering to buy some random Bonkle sets and make myself a new Moeonicle waifu.

2015: A design for a cardboard case for new bionicle sets is leaked. Hype collects the remnants of the Bionicle fan community. It turns out to be real, and Bionicle G2 begins.

Wave 1:
Toa, Protectors, and Skull Spider villain

Wave 2:
Skull Zombie villains and Legendary Protector

Wave 3: Toa upgraded, with beast companions, and new enemy, a hunter with antlers named Umarak

Wave 4: Umarak's upgraded form, his beast minions, and upgraded legendary protector

2016: Bionicle G2 is abruptly cancelled despite being promised three years. Fans are given corperate non-answers for reasons. Try your local toys r us, if they're the kind that hoards sets. Mine still had sets even back to the firat wave last I checked.

The G2 sets are really quite cool, they combine the Hero Factory system with Technic in a pretty substantial way. Also some of the new Star Wars CCBS like General Grevious is pretty cool.

Yeah they've gone and retired them all. Listen to >>6074861, Toys R Us is basically the last place you can go and find any in store. You might get lucky and find a 2015 set, but most of what you'll probably see are the last remnants of 2016.

There are other possibilities though. I went to my local Ross and they had some of the 2015 Skulls and a few Masters.

Otherwise yeah, Bricklink and Ebay are going to be your best bets for getting something.

Yeah I will definitely do that. The battery holder actually looks different and didn’t fit anymore, when I also connected the eyes to the back. So I'm thinking about keeping the AA batteries and connect all wires or use two small batteries. Both would work better than the improvised version you see here.

Why is nobody talking about HOW FUCKING OVERPRICED LEGO IS GETTING? Battle on takodana for example is a 400 piece set and 60 dollars in the US and 75 dollars in Canada where I live. $10 USD sets are tiny and theyre parts are barely a handful. The new SW a-wing has less pieces than last years eclipse fighter and iwhile not confirmed will likely be 50 USD (65 cad)when the eclipse was 30 (40cad). I mention star wars because its the second thing im interested in behind bionicle but even ninjago and nexo knights are very similarily priced to the average liscened set.

LEGO IS LITERALLY THE APPLE OF TOYS

Sure, its a good product, but fuck is it pricey. It especially annoys me because I want to get some non bionicle sets but I cant justify spending it unless its 20% off or more.

Also, bionicle was canned because it was cutting into SW constraction sales. Sure they could have cut Sw instead of bionicle but daddy disney wouldnt let that fly

The problem with merging is that a lot of /lg/fags will not have the slightest interest in talking about bonkle, it's story/lore, and anything like that, so it'll be hard to discuss without them sperging at our own autism.

I dunno mang, as far as I know, Lego isn't using Chink slave labour with high suicide rates, and there aren't other companies doing the same thing but objectively better and cheaper, so I'd say Apple is far worse.

But seriously though, I agree, even with inflation in mind, I think the prices are getting pretty fucking ridiculous compared to how things were a decade ago.

Its a bit of a mix. Hes just really bottom heavy. Hes a big boy, lots of pieces. It wasnt just to make him look "fat" his body was made to match the aesthetics of the mask. Pohatu was bottom heavy, therefore, he had to be.

It's licensed sets in general which these days make up almost half of the lineup (or at least it feels like that).

Sure, they say that those are made by the same standards and are going to support the Asian areas but that's probably only for now.

CCBS ball sockets are tough as shit now and there are like only a handful of reports of them breaking.
Meanwhile the normal bricks (especially everything that's one stud wide) are now prone to breaking from even just connecting them once and then putting on display.
Some of the Technic connectors also have a tendency to randomly crack with axle connectors that have safety holes on their sides being the worst offenders.

I dunno, those friction-adding sockets have never seemed that sturdy for me. I had one break after I took apart my 2015 Tahu (hardly any force), and I could imagine others doing the same. But it's just that piece though, otherwise I agree, CCBS is pretty indestructable.

I think the trouble is that LEGO was losing money on the sets themselves, not that they weren't selling well -- the price of making a set was probably more than the price they were selling them to retailers. I think it's fair to say that CCBS is going to return in some form eventually (though I imagine it'd be nexo knights or a completely new brand)

+ cloth is great looking and definitely could also work as cape
+ flesh colored bone and shell
+ head is better than expected
+ also has one of those new armor parts as Baze but in white and printed
- legs are beyond godawful
- bog-standard, boring build outside of bow thingy
- least amount of parts out of the three new figs
- uses those limiting bones for elbows

Baze Malbus:
+ surprisingly complex build for the collar and backpack
+ most parts of the new sets
+ new armor piece
+ brick-built belt makes the whole hip and thigh section look thicker and filled out compared to figures like the Deathtrooper
+&- stickers
- the shoulder joint position is royally fucked
- doesn't really do much
- head is meh

He seemed like the worst value-wise to me and after the clone and stormtrooper I got sick of the generic "armored dude with a gun" build.
To be honest, I haven't even seen R1 nor do I plan to and the only real reason I bought those here were the parts like the recolored shells and the new bow pieces.

If it's the Brain Attack version then it's not worth it since they were 9.99 bucks once and not particularly good since that was the year where the "Generic Hero Build Fatigue" went into full force.
The Breakout version would at least have some great parts like the guns, the shield and those armor shells next to his head.

Same reason they moved onto Hero factory in 2010 instead of just not canceling Bonkle Gen 1.
Bionicle is a franchise name with a current reputation among store chains as something that doesn't sell well. And so, the idea would be to bring in a fresh IP without the baggage. Something that can be marketed as something new, but still be similar to appease fans of the previous IP.

I'm not saying that I believe that they are teasing something similar to to Bonkle (I don't know what to believe just yet), but saying ''what was the point of cancelling g2 in the first place?'' is pretty narrow minded considering that Toys R us was the only non-lego company that invested in selling the last wave.

also another anon i think earlier in the thread said his theory was that it wasnt necessarily that g2 sold bad, just its profit margins were low (i.e. maybe it costs them 10 dollars to produce a uniter tahu and they sell it wholesale for 12.50)

I feel like slizers is definitely a possibility because chances are they will be smaller than toa/SW builds (probably protector size) which could make them sell better because of a better price point. Also, they could still do some bigger sets, looking at brickset I see they had 2 large sets (88 and 135 pieces)

I really do not think it would be bionicle or hero factory, it could just be something new but like I said earlier I dont think it would make a lot of sense to do something extremely similar to bion/HF

I was too young when slizers were a thing so I'd totally give them a try. But do you guys think if there is a new ccbs line it could be a current/revived theme? ex. elves or exo force reboot?
