The whole concept of a "black" identity" is really mostly an American thing, since most American black people don't really know their ethnic origins. That's why when you do see black people who come from a black home country, like black Dominicans, Jamaicans, or Africans, they'll identify with that country first, and being black second. In Africa, you have countless subdivisions of ethnicities and groups that all consider themselves different.
And similarly, thats why trying to do a group "white" identity is also silly. Firstly, a lot of white people can probably trace their ethnic origins if they try hard enough. Even if its mixed of a couple different European countries, you'd probably just identify with those countries than some vague catch-all of every "white" nation. Hell, up until a few generations ago, the whole continent was constantly at war. So no one would bat an eye over a German entertainment television, or an English superhero thread.
