First Snake being awful, now Kazuma being either mexican or chilean. Is there no hope for figma and realistic looking figures? I mean Kazuma was even HALF realistic HALF cgi....
Now I fear for Zero Suit Samus...which I'll buy anyway cause it's not like a Metroid Fan has so many merchandise to choose from...but I'm hesitant to say the least.

This figure was delayed a shitload of time so I can understand will the face turned out like that. Samus only got delayed some weeks due to a faulty faceplate so I think we're safe on that regard.

All the more reason to get it right. it got delayed by almost ten months and this is what we got? I know it's a minor character a lot of ppl don't care about, but I dunno maybe Max Factory should care about tainting the brand? At this rate every collector will stay the hell away whenever they're not releasing an anime girl (in which they usually excel...most of the times)

There was a manufacturing issue, but they didn't say why in their announcement. Where did you see the faceplate thing?

They made an ifficial post about it. The delay is so they can add the fixed faceplate to all existing orders lmao. It's awesome that they are fixing the flaw before the consumers get their orders, though.

Some shop got them early but GSC didn't allow them to sell it due to the issue so the shop (not GSC) said they were just going to add the additional faceplate.

Normally i did, but they got alot of goodwill from me for the Table Museum line that i absolutely love so i thought i'd give them a chance.

God, i can already imagine how they're going to fuck up Majima's eyes as well. I'm wondering if i should just cancel that one and try to sell on Kiryu at a loss (i'm not going to charge someone full price for a messed up figure).

OP here. Actually, I understand how you feel. I posted this because I'm really disappointed with them fucking up like this (again, after being disappointed with Snake)...I had this on preorder and when they postponed it I cancelled because it was out of my budget for that month...I dodged a bullet. I played all translated Yakuza Games and I know it probably won't get an SHF or something so it was either Figma or nothing. Oh well, at least I have Guyver III to look forward to.

That's a candy paint job. You can't expect chink workers to do that with any paint.

Most likely the nips had a professional modeler do a candy coat paintjob for the prototype to deceive buyers.

Is there a reason why so many figmas show up in the secondhand market and why they devalued so hard over time?

I remember the #1 WonFes Konata back in the day fetching a prise of $100ish on ebay, but now on Mandarake or somewhere else, it's like $20 tops.

I think that particular example is because nobody gives a shit about Lucky Star these days. Same happened to Haruhi and K-On, it looks like it's beginning to happen to Madoka and Monogatari, and it's going to happen to Kantai Collection. The anime industry runs on short-lived, passionate fads, but that means that interest in one thing will plummet as soon as the next comes around.

Just got her and Samus >>6086083 looks like(almost?) her prototype face. I also got a replacement face plate in a separate plastic bag but I don't see a difference with the one on the figure.

Figuarts Civil War Cap.

He's... alright. Great articulation and engineering across the board, comes with lots of hands and optional parts for the shield - but I'd like him a lot more if they'd washed or airbrushed some shading onto his straps, belt, and the white and red portions of his outfit.

On the plus side I got a really nice unmasked head with mine.

Maybe it's one of those things where it looks like ass in pictures, but passable in-hand where it's not vastly zoomed in? I remember a lot of figures that caused a lot of shitflinging here ended up being like that (Figma Snake, pretty much all the Star Wars SHFs, etc.). I dunno, hope springs eternal.

This is coming from someone who loved the Berserk figmas too, which I think actually had pretty detailed faces. Their quality has definitely dropped and their prices rising, which is confusing.

Serious question: Paint is one thing but why does the sculpt get shittier on the final versions of so many figures? Figuarts Harley, this guy. I know prototypes are always fancy but it's just a mold it should be perfect unless they purposefully use shittier plastic or something.

I didn't buy Kazuma but yes, I can relate to that feeling. I think Zero Samus turned out pretty decent, but there were flaws that could have been avoided (for instance, I'm not particularly fond of how low her pelvis is, it makes some poses look really awkward. For instance, new Motoko pulled this off nicely). But even then, I like the figure enough and I LOVE Metroid so a 7/10 was good enough for me to buy her.

I really like Yakuza games...and I would have bought Kazuma if he was at least a 6.5/10. Sadly, I think he's more of a 3-4 all things considered...so not even a 50% sale could convince me of getting it. It's a case-by-case scenario.

I'm thinking of ordering him despite how he turns out but i rather wait till he hits the bargain bin. At the same time i fear that he may end up with scalper's prices like with many cases where demand exceeds the limited number of figures in the market.

I don't expect Bandai/Tamashii to pick it up, so figma could be the only option for a 6inch Kiryu Kazuma figure.

He's on back-order at Amiami and in stock at hlj, so probably keep an eye for hlj putting him on one of their sales and for if the Amiami restock shelfwarms because of the backlash. I think it's fair to wait on this release, at the very least it certainly shouldn't ever be super expensive on Mandarake.
