In the scene where the planets blew up the group shot on the balcony that is in the film right now just look like a random collection of people. Those were the other characters involved in that story arc.
Guess they were afraid of exposition and explaining the politics like the PT, but still managed to do the exposition for who Luke is and the OT in the most heavy handed artificial looking way possible.
