The differences, if any, are often very minor. Typically it's only the color scheme or lack of paint.
I have a rule that I won't spend more than 1k on any figure no matter how badly I want it. I find them all over ebay, yahoo auctions, and old timers on the forums. Many are hesitant to sell so I trade them for things they really want.
I work as a chemist and I am 25 so I don't have family expenses. I imagine when I get a serious girlfriend this hobby of mine will dwindle.
