I've been slacking off on TR purchases lately, but I nabbed a Brainstorm at Walgreens a couple of weeks ago. Finally got some time to start appreciating him.

Really great, probably my second favorite of the line after Hardhead. I love how sleek he is in robot mode, as opposed to being big and bulky like most bots. Gives him a bit more personality. I can see how it made a good mold for Blurr. Love the colors, too, that blue-green just pops. Headsculpt is spot-on, as most of TR has been. That little bit of orange on his faceplate is a nice accent. The tampographs on his wings and legs look great, too, very sharp. Not nuts about how a huge chunk of his alt. mode just hangs off his back, but that's a case for a lot of retail releases. It's just more noticeable here, given the size and shape. At least it comes of and has some other functionality, though.

Alt. mode is surprisingly fun, despite the obvious flaw of the cockpit gap. Very swooshable, reminds me of a ship from a side-scrolling arcade shooter of some kind. A little bare on detail in this mode. Could have used some other colors to break up all the blue-green and beige, and I would have appreciated if they had found a way to give him two tailfins instead of just the one, but that's one of the downsides of mold-sharing, I guess.

Triggerhappy looks amazing, but something about his color scheme doesn't sit well with me. I'm probably going to wait and see what he inevitable repaint/retool looks like.

You mean the headmasters to zone series, BW2, neo, etc?
They are aimed at young kids but are fairly action heavy. Plots are pants on head stupid but again, they are aimed at little kids. Also brace for endless and redundant narrations.

Armada and Energon are like spoiled milk, very hard to enjoy and if you do it's more of how terrible they were animated/plotted. Cybertron holds up ok but it has the same issues/charm of the G1 series meaning you can tell it was made to sell toys and for viewers under 10 to watch.

Random note:Depending on who you ask Galaxy Force was the same or worse as the dub because Japaneses kids need to be told everything over and over again. The only advantage is if you don't understand the language it's just reading and not as cringe(also depending on the translator you might be spared some of the awful jokes and gags), otherwise it's like watching Power Rangers but with more puns and talking to the audience.

engineering of Armada was rushed and ill planned where it was east and west designers getting together and working it out in less than a year. The minicons are charming but most of the figures can be summed up as G1 inspired bricks. Energon was a lot more stable and brought a lot back like the ball joints and full range on figures, still not perfect. The pants/shirt gimmick really hurt a lot of the Autobots while the worse the Decpticons suffered was large kibble. Cybertron was where they were getting their stride and most of the line was great quantity even with the key gimmick (which was just a lazier version of the minicon gimmick)
Overall Cybertron is the only one that aged ok/fair.

Na, my figure is fine.
I just hate they don't clear the nubmarks enough before applying the paints. But that goes for both Hasbro and TT so I am not sure complaining will do any good.

Energon wasn't actually all the bricky. Sure, the articulation on some figures was shit, but most had decent basic movement and some were great.

It's alright. Its pretty chunky like most RID toys but it's about as articulated as the generations version and has pretty much the same transformation.

A lot of people prefer it over the generations mold because it balances much, much better.

I haven't been able to find one in my stores that didn't have dopey paint apps on its face though so I never got it myself.

Idk if I should be happy or sad, and the people I bought it from are sold out and flooded in orders atm so I'd need to wait ages for a return.

Anyone know a good paint to match his silver that I could fill in the scratch with?

Looks like you have all the important ones though.

I would recommend the Takara version of the BH Soundwave though. He looks good in hand and is closer to his standard colors. (on the right in pic related)

Articulation-wise he's fine, not perfect, not horrible; just fine.
The transformation is meh.

Helps if you can FIND TR in stores. I can't. Used to be I just couldn't find Titan Masters (literally have only seen one in my life, Terri-Bull), but now I can't find ANY in stores, just RiD shit.

I had to buy Brainstorm online, and initially I did really enjoy him, a lot more than Blurr, but the teal color scheme has really driven a wedge between us overtime, feels like the figure was yellowed altogether.

Absolutely, but if it's going to get remolded as the other characters we've been hearing, I don't mind as much.

Speaking of the Blurr mold, what parts of the Takara one are people having paint rub problems on? I haven't mess with him much and now I'm worried.

My local Walgreens has become my most reliable outlet for TR Deluxes. They show up later than normal, and there may only be a single peg of them, but there's always a nice sampling of the wave. Meanwhile, my Target has nothing at all, and TRU is still shelfwaring with a ton of Blurr and Scourge.

Jazz is great, but it triggers me a bit for some reason. I feel like they could have easily engineered a way for the cars headlights to accordion onto his forearms, and his backpack to rotate so the real spoiler was behind his head. Would have been near perfect then

The toy is fine. My only complaint are the flipper hands, but other than that it's easily one of the best HA toys; not all that of a competition, though, when only Jazz, Barricade, and Roadbuster other than him are competent enough to be considered part of a best of anything.

Well, that's a tough one, it's not like we have tons of those. I guess pick between United Devastator, or the Cybertron series Giant Planet dudes (Menasor, Metroplex, and some other dude).

People still like the Classics Astrotrain mold, the TR one is just ok, and CW Sky Lynx is acquired taste so I'm not sure you'll like it. I personally love the Armada Jetfire mold, but he lacks leg articulation and no waist due to his transformation.

As for Zoid like beast formers classics Grimlock really can't be beat. Most of the movie dinobots are cool too if you like your Zoids super shardy and with some soft plastic.

Call me heretic but I'm not as impressed with Triggerhappy as I thought I'd be. The arm kibble hinders his arm swivels and his alt is just this big blue blob even if the transformation is slick.

The new headmasters could've spent more time in the pot. Just giving these guys separate legs would've added ten times the play value.

Doing that would increase costs, so it had to be cut. Some of the few designs we see in some of the TR stuff implies they would get some basic articulation, so it's not like they never thought about it.

On a side note can we talk about just how good of a figure Cerebros is on his own? Like he turns into a head but the robot mode is decently posable and just so solidly put together. I've had as much fun with Cerebros as I have any deluxe in TR. only complaint is that he arms don't lock anywhere in head mode.

Just a word of warning.

The shoulders on LG 35 Ginrai lock into their positions very hard.
Do be careful when transforming it into truck model as if you holding the chest wrong, it can result in some stress marks in the red truck bed. Worst, break the whole thing.

Well I'm completely far away but search for Robinsons Starmill and SM Pampanga malls, and are close to each other. Robinsons carries Toys R Us while SM has a somewhat larger toystore. Mall of Asia's a huge ass mall but I believe there's only one toy store in it named Toy Kingdom. All SMs don't have Toys R Us, but sometimes they do carry TRU exclusives at limited. There's another mall named Marquee mall but god knows where that is in Pampanga

If you came in at June-July, you could've come in time for the annual toy fairs, lots of great finds on Takara, Wei Jiang and other TFs from older lines.

So far most of my known Collector's shops are far away from MOA. Not sure if there are Pampanga locals in here to help you travel.

So Sawback can form a kind of three-pronged weapon and overall looks pretty great with everybody, especially Rodimus here. Definitely tied with Fancy for my favorite Titan Master.

Sawback looks great, gonna hunt for wave 3 today. I think Overkill will make a better looking gun than Crashbash, though I like him more than the Flywheels tank/plane, which is great at being two things but not three.

Quite a few of the TR deluxes have a specific titanmaster that just seems to work with them. I recall someone posting a jet fanmode for Mindwipe that combined with Apeface.

Personally I find that Triggerhappy and Terribull go quite well together.

I can't comment on the TM, or wave 3 figures in stores since I haven't seen them here yet, but at least on a few sites, Gnaw is selling out the fastest of the 3 wave 3 Legends.

The only thing that's stupid is Bumblebee and Roadburn being in the same wave since they're almost the same toy, only with different heads and colors, and Hasbro's normally tried to keep similar molds from being in the same waves (Topspin is also apparently a retool of Kup, so it's also weird he's in the same wave).

The TR version is really good though. They got about the same about of paint in the same places, though instead of painted arms the LG versions has some paint in the cockpit to liven it up a bit.

I'd really say both versions are equal in quality and give a great pair of options between toy or toon colors (assuming you don't mind paying extra for toon). QC and joint tightness is pretty much identical on both versions for me.

not in the last few waves. Remember CW wave 4 voyagers case that was Motomaster and White Prime? Wave 4 legnds had Blackjack and rodimus together and Wave 6 legends had Wreckgar and groove. Wave 4 leaders was Skywarp and Starscream.

I was originally only planning on getting Brainstorm and Hardhead because I like the way they look and seemed like fun toys (they are), but now I kind of want to get Highbrow and Chromedome to finish the Autobot headmaster crew. in the case of Mindwipe it's just what he is made off. I have no idea why they made so much of him a soft plastic/rubber compound because that will age awful very shortly. Hell Convoy Bat is casted in a light blue so that is gonna age even worse.

HFTD Tomahawk is fucking amazing. Can't get a picture right now but the way the transformation produces a robot mode with so little plane kibble is excellent and the alt mode being an actual Russian plane was something really cool. I use to pretend he was Movieverse Jhiaxius or something but he works just as well as some really recognizable genericon.

You must mean Terradive, though Tomahawk is another great mold. The club repaint of Terradive as Depth Charge is very nice too, and apparently nobody wanted him as I paid less than a regular deluxe.

The legs probably couldn't tab together properly with solid plastic. No idea about the rest though, maybe they just had a shit ton of excess rubber material?

Probably to avoid breakage. The bat heads ears would break pretty easily if they weren't rubber, and the size of the robot mode wings would make them difficult to transform properly if they were sturdier plastic.

Still hate it uses rubber, but at least there's a reason, unlike Skullcruncher, and Weirdwolf.
