I want to be optimistic that Medicos may go with a more tame colorway for his 1st release. Stone Ocean's really bright colors made for an interesting release window but I hope SBR starts a little with black and blues and progressing to more eccentric colors for WF and possible 2nd release colorways. Though the last interesting WF colorway was Johnathan and only due to the stripe patterns changing up the typical recolors they do.

A is pretty much similar to A ranking on AmiAmi's preowned system. I haven't bought anything off them since 2015 but shipping before the EMS hike was roughly similar to how AmiAmi and Mandarake prices it (EMS rates only though) so I assume SAL/RSAL is similar also. However there's an additional 5% fee (handling cost) added on so keep it in mind. I've had nothing but good experiences and found decent stock that sometimes beats Mandarake so you're golden if you want to buy off them but that extra 5% fee is what always puts them 2nd to Mandarake and AmiAmi to me if they can stock up figures that I want and it hasn't been sold out yet by the time I price compare all the shops and go for my final checkout.

lads a figure i ordered was shipped out with EMS on the 29/12 and it left the export office on 30/12, it's been 8 days now and it hasn't moved, should i be worried? and i haven't a clue who to contact because the package isn't in my countries post office yet and ems japan only takes phone calls and i can't speak nip and the main ems website doesn't take inquiries. i wouldn't be freaked out but other stuff i've ordered thats been shipped out after this figure have i arrived to me and that's whats making me think somethings gone wrong.

I would imagine it somehow got jumbled up from other packages. Not much you can do beyond hoping it pops back up on the system of either your local post office system or Japan Post's. Give it a few more days to a week and see what's going on and refresh tracking on both Japan Post and your countries postage service.

Medicos has a gold mine on their hands. Look at how many cool villains we can enjoy in the JoJo line: White Album, Magenta Magenta, Hol Horse, and many others. And they simply don't make action figures out of them! In my opinion, Medicos is losing a lot of money by not doing so and we are gaining a lot, saving up.

No, at most you should pay 3k because he was worth that much before some sites jumped his pricetag. If you don't care about the headsculpt so much then Star Platinum Part IV is the best version due to being a sort of 2.0 version with far better articulation.

I don't see why people keep doing that, stuff can be found for a reasonable price or at least slightly better than what places like Solaris Japan would charge for harder to come by figures. At the very least YAJ exist for those chance deals if your proxy/middleman fees don't break your intended budget. Mandarake isn't the end all but they do have stock.

So my first SAS (kira) just arrived today. He's a pretty decent figure, but one thing bugs me.

Why the fuck doesn't he have ankle tilts, yet one of his feet is permanently stuck at a bent position?

Is the joint just stiff, nonexistent or am I missing something?

SAS engineering isn't the best so it's really limited unless the figure has virtually no clothing sculpt to block key areas. Otherwise it sounds like the paint could've made the foot joint a little stiff and you could use a little warm water to soften and move it

That sucks, I put the ankle in some warm water and it does move a bit better now but this is still slightly disappointing.

His left toe joint seems unusually loose compared the right, you can even see the white plastic inside showing. Will hot water and a little force help squeeze it back into place? Or is this some QC issue?

I just copied Mandarake's listings and names and worked with that for other figures I wanted off YAJ. Middleman will vary since I could imagine some may offer something more ideal than another but I would guess the Buyfag guide has some tips here and there for some decent ones.

MyFigureCollection but also use Medico's website for announcements and reference. The soundplates and effect plates are paired off with specific releases. The link the OP needs to be updated for recent SAS's but you should see who has what. Also some are also event exclusive and can be found on special packs in Mandarake.

I only know the new reissues have a much lighter skin tone versus the original shading. In terms of comparison I can't say since I don't have both reissue and original but I always found the new paint apps losing detail in bright light to the point faces just look half assed versus the original but at the same time Medicos does overshoot on the shading on the original so they look a little too tanned. Though some do benefit with the reissue status with Old Joseph having fixed joints along the legs and waist where the original was to experience damage if you manipulated it too much. Reissue Josuke (Part 4) has a better neck joint so swapping heads doesn't result in a broken neck joint however if you want to use the WF Crazy Diamond Head exclusive then the new peg may not be a proper fit. As for Dio I do remember that the original and later reissues has differing paint apps for his outfit.

I take out the plastic trays, then stack them together based on the tray size to save space that way, then I flatten all the boxes out and store them in part 5 Polnareff's fuckhuge box, then store them in a standard size moving box.

It makes the difference from 40-ish SAS' occupying all the space in the box to only taking up half.

Yeah but at the same time probably stores noticing a few sales of bumped prices and having others jump on that bandwagon. At the same time SAS's have gotten crazy prices before for certain characters, Kira 2nd and KQ2nd had a strong lead in that regard since they were that popular before the Part IV anime was announced. Exclusive WF releases are obvious but there are exceptions like WF GER and WF KC experiencing a drop in price months post-Wonfes. Part 5 stands in a odd zone of being readily available for most characters and being surprisingly cheap. WF Gio stands as the most expensive and Bruno 1st to get to a decent price on Mandy really varied, at least to my memory. Part 3 had all the Dios and Worlds you can find among other releases with Star Platinum 2nd being the priciest SP and oddly enough, The World 3rd being a constant 6k pricetag for what it amounts to being a basic recolor.

Now I've seen a SP3rd that sticks to a 3k pricetag now bump to 9k on some stores because people jumped on that fast and caused a reaction for other storefronts.

Now I have to suspect where a Part 5 anime would cause for sales now if it was the cheapest and easily found part for SAS in general back then.

And all this when the exchange rate was good, EMS didn't bump in price, and Mandy stock was filled to the brim for the most part. I was shocked to see the page number drop to like 6 or 7 a year or so back.

As of right now Im not going to go insane on exclusives and Wonderfest stuff, just going to try and get characters I like or I think look cool like most people who start out with SAS.

Just lurk the 2nd hand sites that the Buyfag guide mentions and recommends. Use Figinstock on sold out listings to inform you when they restock on that particular site or storefront (check your main email and spam folders). If you're really in need for a character then YAJ is an option once you narrow down a good Middleman/Proxy provider. Once you get a good idea on where to lurk and hunt then you're good and saving money against what Ebay and Amazon scalpers would setup on people who don't use these sites. Though the occasional deal comes through (Got my $50 Wham through Ebay) so check every few times but set a budget on who you want. Overpaying nowadays is pretty easy with the way certain characters are in demand (Look at all the people who want Kira 2nd and Killer Queen 2nd).

Collecting Part 5 is great because, unlike 6, the entire cast is available, and unlike 4, for good prices and they don't suffer from 3's manlet issue.

Jolyne and Stone Free are fairly popular so search more. The Hand 2nd is a cheaper alternative if you want it that bad. Okuyasu I do agree with since he was one of easiest reissues to do but Medicos gave us a new Rohan and recolored Giorno with a new head.

Anime only fag here, I hear that pt 5's figs are pretty cheap now and worth getting before the anime airs and it shoots up in price harder than Kira. Only thing is, I have a friend (the one who introduced me to Jojo) who's read the manga up to pt 6 and he says that pt 5 isn't really worth caring about. Which is sort of a deciding factor in buying figs for me, I tend to fail to appreciate toys of characters that I don't like.

So basically: is pt 5 as a story any good, are any of the characters interesting at all, and should I get the figures?

I would say just read it but the scanlations aren't the best but they are being worked on last I checked. Honestly you shouldn't pick them up unless you either like the characters enough to bite the bullet or like the designs/accessories to justify it. Part 5 is interesting with the mafia angle and it really has its moments but personally it took some time to warm up to Giorno and even towards the end I rooted for Bruno more. The gang dynamic however is what kept me doing and almost got me collecting their characters if not for the space. Towards the end is when things get properly "crazy" and really sets up a fun villain introduction before the big final battle.

Speaking for who I have protagonist and villains with the stands (I'm not spoiling a certain name but you should leave before someone dumps it on you). They are fine SAS's though Diavolo's hair is a little limited to move around and shading could be better on his body. King Crimson excels with the paint apps and Medicos did add a little fun engineering with his torso setup and adding in pegs for his shoulder armor. Gold Experience holds up pretty well and the colorways work sort of opposite with Giorno's releases with WF complementing Giorno 1st whereas Gold Experience 1st compliments WF and Giorno 2nd better.

I mean, I've always liked King Crimson's design and the band it's named after is one of my top 10 artists so I may get him and Diavolo either way. But I know nothing about the rest of the group aside from that there are 7 (8?) of them. And that apparently the socalled "Main Jojo" plays a more secondary role and another character is the one most people prefer (I think it's Bruno?).

The only one you may not like really is Fugo but I regained a liking to him due to the novelization post Part 5. Everyone else is sort of likable in their own way without spoiling a ton. Might not be worth it going through a middle man like that, seems like an odd plan when he could have it shipped to you, or do you live in the middle of nowhere? regardless will there be enough time for the shipment to arrive before the visit?

If you're wondering about local canadian sites selling figures there's really not much around, and they all mark up the prices to hell and back. Hell most of the stuff you'll find in Amazon.ca is actually shipped from overseas so it won't make a difference.

That's what I'm hoping for. Green Caesar used to be really difficult to come by, but I've seen him on sale multiple places between 4000 - 6000 yen for the last 6 months. Same with the pillarmen.
You would need a proxy to get these I think, as I've seen all of these on Japanese only shops, but still.

So, if we go by the fact that part 2 figs are obtainable for a decent price ever since Josephs re-release, and part 3 figs are super easy and fairly cheap to come by even after the anime, it would make sense for part 4 hype to die down eventually too.
I don't think figs like Bowie Kira and pink KQ will ever be sold at an average decent price again, but I can imagine Okuyasu being easier to buy for a good price down the road. (It would help a fuckton if he just got a fucking re-release soon though).

I personally just scored an unopened pink Okuyasu for 3.000 yen myself. Sometimes you get lucky if you know where to look and sometimes you just have to be patient.
Alternatively, if you want Okuyasu ASAP, Jungle has him for 8500 yen or something right now. It could be better, but it's also the cheapest buy it now price I've seen a non damaged non-WF variant go for in ages.

Got my Star Platinum today! Turns out he looks just fine with Part 3 Jotaro, the colors blend really nicely together.
Of course my stupid ham hands snapped the neck joint immediately, but fortunately his neck is thick enough to hold the yelling head in place.

Medicos probably wanted to go beyond and try something luxurious and since some Araki artworks work with fashion and have shiny parts on them, why not? I think it's an interesting twist on the whole super limited edition idea for a figure though I know they won't be going out of their fancy boxes anytime soon.

It's also offered only on a lottery basis on WF and even then you have to pay for it if you have the winning number. On the plus side they do pop up every so often and stay there due to the really high pricetag post-WF so I guess if you have money to burn for a 6inch figure then go for one that's shiny with a numbered black box.

Depends on the auction/seller and proxy, of course. Did you have a specific question in mind?

Using the proxy itself isn't too much of a hassle. Some proxies, you have to submit the link and desired bid amount so that they'll bid for you. You can't always expect them to bid right away, though. With other proxies (or at least FromJapan), you can just bid manually since the YAJ bidding system is automated.

Regarding YAJ itself, you just need to be careful since you generally don't get quality-checks like you'd expect from stores (Mandarake, amiami, etc) and domestic shipping can vary a lot.

Depends how you feel about the color tones The Hand 2nd has. Pic related is my most neutral color settings that I can do with my limited lighting. It's a nice contrast to my eyes but The Hand 1st does "pop" more.

Well since we have both Valentine and D4C announced already before even Gyro is painted and Johnny is shown at all I guess Part 7 will either be really short-lived or Medicos is mixing up their releases now. Possibly. Design-wise there are differences but I would hope they can engineer better articulation like they did with Star Platinum Part IV somehow like reworking the hip pieces so there's better range of motion for high kicks.

About 5.5--6.5 inches on average, although figures from JoJo Parts 1 and 2, Ajin (appropriately enough), and Tokyo Ghoul guys are pretty sizeable, but the former two would not look out of place next to Figuarts. Also to note, SAS from Parts 4--6 and Part 8 Josuke will stand a bit taller than a Figuart (I'm using Kamen Rider Mach, Kivala, and Akiba Blue for comparison in my case). Part 3 figures will look pretty small, especially when some have comparatively tiny heads (most notably Polnareff).

Really though, I'd say most of the stuff from Pt 4 onwards is pretty good. Just be warned, figures that have lots of clothing like Kira have pretty hindered articulation. The Stands in general though pose amazingly.

I usually recommend any figure from JoJo Parts 1, 2, 5, and 6, but that's not to say SAS from Parts 3 and 4 are bad. The only ones in Part 4 to feel somewhat janky in quality or proportions are Koichi (due to limited joints, his build is fine) and Josuke's weird chest to head proporitons. Most everyone else feels pretty great, even though amount of accessories will vary.

Part 4 also has the best Jotaro quality, Okuyasu and Rohan (especially Highway Star version) are great with lots of good hands and articulation, and Kira is very solidly built with some nice rubber flexibility to his suit for posing (and perfect accessories).

Only the Second releases, so you'll need to search around. Kira 1st is perfect for anime and ASB default Awakened Kosaku if that's your preference, and he and Killer Queen 1st just recently had a reissue.

Yes but I had luck by randomly searching on different buyfag sites and seeing a Killer Queen 1st and Kira 1st here and there. It's their 2nd colorways that are higher in demand so expect to pay more or look harder. Anon's had luck before getting those for good prices so it depends how diligent and lucky you are on finding them. The Buyfag guide will help set you up on searching on using things like Figinstock. The lowest you should pay is 4k so set your limit in mind.

Soft and Wet is generally very cheap and very average amongst the SAS standard due to his design restricting serious posing. Gold Experience Requiem is a solid release overall.

Not the best place to base a price reference. Everytime I see them advertising on MFC the prices are far beyond what I expect for some aftermarket releases. Killer Queen 2nd can be found for far less if you weed around the buyfag regular sites. $180 is them scalping which isn't a surprise unless it was preowned.

Thanks, I might consider that if I go for pink Josuke in the future; but fortunately most of my purchases into the future are all gonna be new releases. My first experience with auctions was with FromJapan to get a 4k black Rohan, worked out alright but their fees added up quite a bit.

I did enjoy my experience using Remambo to snag a Jolyne WF for 4k, only a flat 500 yen + shipping which was great.

The white version also works pretty well with white Kira (who basically functions as anime BtD Kira) if that's of any interest to you. Other than that, if you're getting pink Kira then you really have no choice but to get pink KQ.

Honestly I think both Kiras are great. One of the only SAS figures I feel liked I'd want to get both of if I were crazy. That said I'd need to find a place to order the white KQ first. most of my usual places are sold out. One thing is for sure however. I have zero interest in the Blue KQ. the alternate Kira head imo isn't as good as the two Kira regularly comes with.

I mainly bought Kira because Bites the Dust is one of my favorite stand powers so I was ok with white Kira. White Killer Queen is going to be one of those purchases I'll regret if they ever reissue pink KQ though (ie. never).

And yeah, I never really liked Kosaku Kira (he never really even did anything anyways) so blue KQ was an easy pass for me.

I don't own pink Giorno, but I feel perfectly happy with him in blue in terms of his sculpt and paint. He doesn't have any major blemishes or issues, the only thing I could see is that his face and shirt does lack some level of shading compared to other SAS figures if you get up close or use lots of light, but if you're looking at them in natural lighting I highly doubt you're gonna notice.

Either you bite the bullet and go for marked up figures at the chance to save time or spend nights and setting up notifications every which way to get a decent deal. It's a mix of luck and a lot of time spent refreshing sites in hopes you don't overpay for one single figure.

If you want to take that dive then go ahead (I know I have) but I'll be mighty pissed to see either a reissue pop up a few weeks later or stumble upon the same figure for a dramatically cheaper price because a storefront is willing to give someone a break.
