given that female actors are typically seen as disposable, thinness might be a method for weeding out difficult women, or just limiting the pool of applicants. I mean, if you have a million chicks trying to get the gig, you need some way to narrow your choices. Make them fight each other for Size 0, then give auditions to the ones who make it? this is pure conjecture, btw...
