I haven't built any vans before, though I've plans to make one sometime and I've made a fair amount of 6 wide vehicles.
I guess you might first want to figure out how to make your back door. Whether to use a prefabricated door piece or a brick-built one, as well as figuring out how it should open, then build a frame around that.
Look at other vans and figure out how to make a nice looking shaping of the front.
For the center section I don't imagine it'd be too difficult. Just, you know, build it?

At 1:24 minifigs can reach the steering wheel, but not the peddles.

They'd be about a meter tall.

Im looking to build a minifig scale KITT from Knight Rider. Theres hundreds of beautiful ones all over the net, but no fucking instructions, not even a picture breakdown. Bitch is, I could probably reverse engineer a good portion of the outer "armor" and such from a good portion of the pics, but thats about it.

Anyone know of ANY instructions for a KITT? preferably 6+ wide.

Its like I said, the bitch is, I cant see the bottom of it. Its the problem I run into with a LOT of the cars I see online, I can recreate big chunks of the cars, but without the actual frame, its just a pile of parts.

That reminds me, I was looking through some japanese brick convention and I saw some amazing minifig cars, but I noticed that all the tires were bent as if they weren't connected and just sitting in the wheel well.

Turns out that's a thing for "cool" cars now.

I got my Titan Mech Battle for about $30 from Walmart, must have been August or September. I think they're gone from all the stores in the area.

I'll keep an eye out on the other two. locally there are a few Chaos Chariots for ~$21, and they had Jestro's Evil Mobile for $30, but I slept on it too long.

I'm reading through the archives of this Japanese lego car blog and half of the builds are blowing me away and the other half are blowing me away at how weird the cars are.

I haven't gotten around to finishing it, I only got the front part done but I really like it. It's a lot bigger than I expected. However it's more of a jail and less of an asylum, but it's built in a way where you can easily add or modify it. My complaints are that it doesn't have a lot of "Arkham-y" things to it like gargoyles, the iconic fence or the gothic style to it. If you want a true-to-the-source Arkham Asylum then maybe wait or order the last one, but if you want a big ass set to put your figs in or to modify then I suggest this one.

It's not just a Japanese thing, nor even primarily a Japanese thing. 'Stancing' has been a thing in the States for years, usually applied to the worst shitbox cars and with a 'HATERS GON' HATE LOOK HOW UNSAFE MY CAR IS' style.

I always liked World Builder, and one thing that has always troubled me was finding the Creator set that cooresponds to the Defender (blue robot on far left) and Treebot units of the game, in spite of finding sets and/or schematics coresponding about every other model. Anyone have any idea which set it was?

shitty angle but the main front part is about a foot tall with penny and Batman to scale. Inside it's pretty roomy and even more so if you remove the X-Ray. I haven't built the side buildings yet but I'm guessing the whole set will be like a foot and half long, so pretty big. I think if you wanted to up the spook factor you definitely can if you modified it a little bit.

I think the blue robot is an alt-build of a robot/mech released at the time. Can't remember what year but that should be enough for you to try looking again for something just with those colors but not that actual build

To the anon who was curious about my 10240 X-wing mod. Got most of the parts, managed to fuck up a few small things in the order but was able to compensate for most of them for testing. This is 99% finished, the nose and the engines got changed. The missing T shape from the intakes is not final of course.

I'm really happy with how it turned out to look, the engines really look a lot better in terms of scale.

Feel for the accessories first, since they tend to be unique. In this wave, a few accessories are repeated, so you could feel for accessory first, then headgear. Both Gordon and Harley have a 2x2 tile, but Harley's hair is really obvious. nothing, really. the roller itself is sweet af. I know there are complaints about the size and scale of the car not being consistent with minifigures. Alright /toy/ I'm going to start buying sets to store sealed in their boxes to increase in value over a few years and then sell later to fund future plastic crack purchases. A lego investment fund, I guess.

The technic axles on the front wheels are two separate 4-length axles with stoppers instead of one long axle, and the way it's put together causes a significant amount of friction between the two stoppers, so the front two wheels don't spin freely. It also doesn't seem to affect every set. Jang's review shows it happening, mine has the same problem, but the Brothers Brick review makes no mention of it.

Assuming you have a Joker with the older, more serious face, you can put them on random dudes and have them be Joker's goons. Especially since the actual Joker goon face only came in one set from a few years ago and sells for like $2 per head.

Or, you could just dump the heads in the parts bin and not do anything with them. Unless you're an American Indian, I don't think you have to use every part.

I mean, those are probably Duplo POLYBAGS.

"Blindbag" means the company deliberately obfuscates what product is inside. "Polybag" means the set comes in a soft plastic bag instead of a stiff cardboard box or plastic bucket.

I'm not sure if the Slave is a good investment as the Star Wars bandwagon will go on for a few years and we see Boba, Han in Carbonite and Bespin guard in other sets with minor changes.
I don't know, I've been thinking about the same thing to maybe buy the UCS slave and storage it for a few years but I'm afraid with disney on helm it's a bad purchase, especially with the han solo and fett movie coming out right?
Get one for yourself, if it doesn't rise in price, you can open it or sell it with minor loses.

I did brick lick white and red for martini&rossi and generic "italian". I also might do regular blue with white in usa racing colors, but gulf blue & orange was the best livery for the gt40

UCS, Modulars, Ideas, Creator Expert, and large sets like the Technic Porsche and Bucket Wheel. Those are the only sets that will *reliably* (and sometimes very quickly depending on the particular set) increase in value after it stops being manufactured.

Like you said, collectors are idiots. You can jack up the prices pretty high and I'm sure someone will be stupid enough to pay for it.

that's true but can you vouch it won't be rereleased by disney in a smaller set? We see a big influx to lego and star wars since the new films are in and ask yourself how many people are doing the same as you?
UCS falcon was before the new films and got it's price jacked up even if the millenium falcon was released in a newer set.
Your best bet would be to see how much ucs falcons were made, how the price changed with new movies and new smaller falcon and use that to figure how much is it worth to get slave.
Either way legos get pricier with age and with oil prices rising
If I was you I'd rather go with modulars or sets like the haunted house which have limited stock since disney could screw you sideways like with the new death star and re-release of slave in smaller set or ucs of jangos version, who knows

I usually make self enclosed cockpits but I really wanted to use the old Exo force windscreen and I think it worked pretty well! Due to this I managed to make the cockpit very comfy compared to the others that are quite cramped!

So I just built pic related, and wondered if anybody else noticed some things about the set?

Quality seems to have gone down. I had a point in the instructions where the piece wouldn't fit as shown, that's never happened before.

Some of the bricks feel weird, like the plastic mix was off, the edges are sharper and overall the piece isn't as glossy. Some are just covered in mold lines.

And the Creator boxes look like they're smaller this year but that could be me.

Thanks anon. The only parts missing were a piece of string with a green nozzle, a printed octan piece for one of the gas pumps, and the original sign with an Octan sticker. I will never understand why kids chew the nozzle pieces either.

I designed my own can-am racer to slap a gulf livery on insted of riddler's racer. I cut down by half the powder blue i'd need. But it would still require disassembling my prewar coupe, I'm not ready for rhat, and the accents on my friend-liner wo'nt be enough. dammit all to hell

Yup. I know it looks kind of silly but I really like how this nun outfit looks, and it's "close enough" that you can identify what it's supposed to be at a glance.

Downside is, the hats are kind of pricey because they only came in two SW sets in black, and one in white.

Had a lot of spare wood from a fence project so I picked up a little more and built myself a much needed workbench. Turned out bigger than I thought but the storage is a life saver.

I have that newer style light brick from the Monster Fighters science lab (2012). It is still working. I use it a lot and actually thought I'd killed the batteries but it still flickers. They have a screw to remove the batteries for changing. It is much easier than the Exoforce light bricks. I had three of those die on me and I replaced the batteries.

Which by the way are my all time favorite minifigs because they fit in 2-block wide spaces and their hands clip on at right angles. I think I'm going to order all of the Life On Mars sets from BL, those were hands-down my favorites.
