If I remember correctly, the reason they are so under-painted compared to all the official toy and packaging pictures is because these were released during the time of Gundam in America and Bandai of America wanted customers to paint these up like they did with their Gundam kits. I don't know if the Japanese releases were fully painted or not.
There was also a Subway Kids meal toy line of these.
