The sales would drop to nothing if they tried to apply this to figures. Not even sure why you started this thread since it only applies to anime DVD/BD's and nothing else.

They are already having a hard time selling figures as is, if they tried to raise prices by another $20-30 to go through local distributors then I guarantee they would lose 80-90% of their audience overnight. Because local companies would no longer have to compete with HLJ/AmiAmi/etc and would probably raise their prices even more.

No one is going to pay $80-100 for a bare bones figma and $150+ for one that comes with stuff.
