I actually thought that Invasion from Below signified a CCBS reboot of Exo-Force when it came out. Sadly, it was shit.
You can't really replicate the robot vehicles and tanks with CCBS though. Especially the Mobile Devastator - that shit was fucking rad.

I'm really looking forward to Scout trooper and bike set this summer. It's probably going to be pretty Technic-heavy, but it's a step to right direction.

Too bad it'll cost all the money, but once it hits the bargain bin, I'll buy the shit out of it

Im new to bionicle and loving it. (Im even buying sw-buildable figures for armor pieces).

Damn he is so impressive. I doubt anything that lego makes will top this in a distant future.
What do we have anyways. Some classic bionicles, cool but a little less "badass" looking Hero Factory, or star wars villains.

Didn't really like the Chima Ultrabuilds. Hero Factory Breakout had some great sets like Toxic Reapa, I would love to see more smaller builds similar to him. That's one issue I had with the Bionicle reboot in general, most of the sets were pretty big and we got no impulse sets in the summer waves.

to me its completely opposite. I build Lego sinse 90s but never liked old bionicle.
They all had the same problems - really weird torsos and limbs and limited imagination and design.
I especially didnt liked how very specific it looked in style - with lots of "gear-looking designs" and holes everywhere.
Hero Factory and Chima brought many neat design ideas and the most important
1) new shields/armor so you can make neat holes/ribs/gears coverage
2) chima heads designkick ass

no thats just an assumption. i think lego is going to try again with ccbs. I know that many of legos sets are designed a year or more in advance of release, so they could possibly have a ccbs line already designed. i dont think we'll see it this year though, maybe 2018

He's big and imposing, sure, but even for that price he feels bit overpriced for what he is. He's also very skeletal, and especially the upper arms feel very unfinished. His build also seems a bit boring, with bone connected to bone connected to bone. I just like Vader and K2SO more, when talking about the more "advanced" ultrabuilds.

I parted out mine.

Only truly difficult parts were the gunmetal parts, and maybe the white Hordika feet. Everything else is basic G1 Bonkle that's cheap as dirt

I recently tried mocing with G1 parts and I found them much more versatile than ccbs. Who in the name of ungodly fuck thought it was a good idea to remove connection points from a conctruction toy released by a company renouned for it's toys' creative uses? Removing the axle holes from the bones alone is amazingly idiotic. Who is responsible for this extreme bullshit?

I honestly can't name from the top of my head single G1 bone outside the Technic connectors that even had axle holes. Everything just had pin holes.

It's a matter of [spoiler:lit]git gud[/spoiler:lit]. You just have to build around it. Hell, look at Onua, Kopaka and even Ekimu with Agil. They all have axles connectors attached to the bones. And besides, bars are much more versatile that axles.

Now, I'm not saying that CCBS is a perfect system. It's not. But you can easily build around the flaws.

CCBS alone isn't the be-all and end-all and unlike G1 Bionicle it's actually supposed to be used in combination with System so don't be afraid of modeling your own arms, legs or other bodyparts out of normal bricks every once in while - it's supposed to be that way.

Hell, even the fucking Elves sets use those parts without
looking too out of place while G1 parts stood out like a sore thumb even in robotic sets like the Exo Force mechs.

The G1 Technic parts are a lot more aesthetically pleasing than CCBS, every character built with CCBS looks the same with the massive smooth futuristic armor pieces, and the reason the armor is so big ad flat is because the CCBS pieces underneath are so unsightly in comparison to the old building parts.
And the massive futuristic robot superhero look doesn't really suit Bionicle, which used to have a really rustic primal aesthetic. Even during the Inika onward they moved to a more steampunk look, as tech re-advanced in-universe after the cultivation of Mata Nui

They're different clusterfucks of random pistons and gears because the parts got redesigned all the time. The point of CCBS was to stop doing that and actually have a consistent pool of core parts for once, but lower visual variety out of the box is the logical tradeoff for that.

I went to walmart to see if they had the first wave of 2016, but they didn't. On the way out, I randomly ran into my mom and brother and they told me that there were old bionicles at this department store that was closing down in another part of the city.
I went there and had like 10 minutes before they closed forever. They had been cleaning out all the old neglected stock from the stockroom and putting it on the sales floor to get rid of.
I looked around and found some of the 2003 matoran sealed on a shelf. Bought everything they had (which was only 2 of everything except hafu and kopeke). Opened one set of them and kept the others sealed.

I had dreams like this so many times and it was so fucking surreal. I seriously questioned whether i was awake or not.

With all this talk about CCBS vs G1, I really wish Lego did try a way to mix the good things of Hero Factory and Bionicle in G2, like doing more decorated shells or even compatibility between pieces somehow, to go a step ahead in buildable action figures.

The problem with the new star wars buildables is that those are too easy to build, aside from Vader. Certainly not giving that nostalgia feeling like way back when I almost struggled with building that bionicle dragon Kardas for the first time. Even so i notice they are getting more and more complex(minimal amount tho) with each season.

How many special masks there was during G1?

I'm talking about ones that were released strictly as a promotional material, so no mask packs, both movie Kraahkan or crazy shit like platinum Avohkii and such.

From the top of my head I can think of chrome Hau, copper masks, neon Miru, infected Hau Nuva and both Vahi, but I know I'm missing something.

You have no idea how long it took to get all the Tohunga parts to make the small army I have right now. More than a year, I'd say. I had the same problem, red pieces are almost impossible to find on BL or anywhere else for that matter. I ended up trading away my Jet Throwbot for a mostly complete Jala off of someone here on /biog/. If it hadn't been for them I probably still wouldn't have a complete collection.

So I've done a deal on Bricklink. I'm packing the stuff to ship, the buyer's already paid me but there's a huge problem that has occured. I can't find a set's instructions. It's no small thing either since we're talking about Cahdok and Gahdok.
I'm shipping the sets built because taking those two monsters apart would be a nightmare, but I did write "Complete set + instructions" so the buyer is excpecting the instructions once he opens the box.

What should I do? I know downloading and printing them in color is going to be cost me a ton. Should I tell him I'm having trouble finding them and see how he replies (if he cares about the instructions at all)? Should I partially refund him? How much of a noob am I going to come across as? Should I just give up being a seller?

Message the buyer, explain that you have misplaced the instructions and are looking for them. Ship the sets without the instructions, include an apology note, maybe throw in a spare figure?

Chances are you will find the instructions before the seller gets the sets. If so, ship the instructions seperately and update the buyer.

If they recieve the set before you find the instructions, apologise and give them a voucher for your store as an apology for the inconvenience. Instructions are not too difficult to get, a few Bricklink sellers sell them cheaply so they probably wont be too annoyed and the voucher will encourage them to shop with you again.

Phantoka/Mistika for me. The new versions of past heroes just felt like totally new, unrelated designs with the same old names. Specially Pohatu, which was a problem since he was my favorite. Also, that was when they started devaluing the word "Makuta".

I know a lot of people hate Piraka but they still had their own flair and style, as did the Barraki. Bionicle still felt genuine to me then, it was just trying new things.

Still getting there. But it's getting closer.

I never bothered to try to scavenge sets from 4 different release seasons, most of which were nowhere to be found here by the time instructions rolled around. I'll probably save some money on it too, although I couldn't be bothered to count, since good number of the parts are from my own parts bin.
