As to his mocking Megs begging for mercy I think it's more of a case of him seeing the deception coming he's trying to get Megatron to see that he's not going to fall for the same bullshit.
that's just me, I always saw G1 Prime as a John Wayne kind of guy, had a code but did what needed to be done. That may actually be my problem with Bay Prime, he sounded like and talked like G1 Prime but he acted like a crazy person, I thought this was brought to a better balance in AoE when he talks and acts more like someone who's just done with the whole damn thing, war has left him just a little unhinged and it's harder for him to see friend from foe.
Either way i think it speaks to the writing of "Some silly show to sell toys" when it can be seen in such different lights.
