Is there an actual medieval buff here? Which direction does the kite shield supposed to be hold? Is it like how the DS player character hold it (pic related) or is it like the DS silver and black knights (sharp side towards the knuckle)

It looks weird because the bones are so...un-bone looking. They're not the right shape for a femur, they're weirdly smooth and fleshy looking, and this skeleton thicc as a motherfucker.

What a dumb comment. I'm only buying three but there are definitely a couple more I wouldn't mind having. While some have certainly missed the mark and look bad, a majority are decent or better. For example I'm not into goblins per-say but they're really good.

Is this technically a heater or kite shield? I thought kite shields would be a bit longer. Looks more like a heater.

The strapping could be different. Most heater shields seem to be held with the forearm running perpendicular to the torso so that stance would be awkard, with the elbow up. If held with the forearm running parallel, which I've seen kite shields as such, then that stance would be comfortable and natural.

After seeing these pictures i'm going to have to change up my order.

Xarria looks awesome, and i'll probably drop boarrior seeing as there's nothing special about him other then a headsculpt.

Delphina looked generic to me in the kickstarter, but in these images she's just so pristine looking. Definitely picking her up.

I still gotta get the Boarrior. He would be great alongside a Minotaur. I wish the cat guy had more than just the head and tail to set him apart though, claw hands or something. I might wait until they someday make like a barbarian using the cat head.

I think personally I'm just going to divide up into three factions: Beastmen, Knights/Warriors, and Orcs/Goblins/Undead.

Man, i really wish they got someone better at posing to set them up. The majority of these guys look so stagnant and boring. Some look good, like Xarria, but the majority of them are in that shitty generic toy pose and leaves them looking stiff and ugly. The deluxe knight got it REALLY bad here, makes the figure look really poor all around. I don't understand why they do it like this, give them some life, show some sort of action with them, make people excited to get their hands on them.

Get fucked. They're $30 dollar figure, or more if you had to pay scalping price (in which 4H did absolutely nothing to mitigate) that's the minimum amount of money you need to get the legion builders due to ripoff shipping. They're $30 dollar figure paid two year in advance, which means that it is more than $30 considering the lost opportunity cost of that $30, most of which you can just have sit around in your bank account accumulating interest.

Most people splurge significant amount of money on this line, due to the archaic limited availability and build to order nature. In reality you need to spread the ripoff shipping and tax around multiple figures to have the figures costing you as close to the price point advertised as you can.

You can't even preorder figure to make, and combine the shipping with the leftover sale figure. You can't even preorder a batch of figure, then say you change your mind decided to add another figure onto your preorder batch because their store system is too archaic, you need to pay the $15 shipping again.

That's my point. You need to spread the shipping cost among a lot of figures, if you buy just one figure you're not getting your money worth.

The argument that the legion builders are pretty much 18 bucks figure is misleading

I mean that all the characters so far seem to be less "Main hero" like He-Man or Lion-O, and more "grizzled mentor" along the lines of Panthro or Man-at-Arms. Everyone seems like a side character so far, in design.

And yet they said that it cost the same to make 1/18th scale figure for them. Of course they forgot to take into account warehouse storage, shipping logistics, etc that eventually severely limit the availability of their figures.

Also 1/18th figures allow them to have more deluxe playsets, like a reasonable sized dragons, griffin, etc rather than like the 3ft long dragon necessary for the 1/12th (theirs more like 1/11th) scale figures.

However, I collect 1/12th and 1/18th Star Wars figures and see it first hand the severe lack of practicality on 1/12th scale vehicles and bigger monster set compared to the 1/18th.

Yeah, it was incredibly short sighted and makes collecting their stuff a huge pain.

Needing nearly a year just to get simple redecos, plus needing people to preorder them or no chances of getting any is plain dumb.

I think it's sorta missing the point or spirit of kickstarters, where the kickstarter is supposed to raise funds to push a product out into the market. With 4H, it's like they dont even want their products to be sold in stores and the KS is only way to get their product.

The scale the figures are made in has no effect on their ability to produce these figures. None at all. I said nothing about the difficulty during production or sculpting. Simple facts:
- It is more expensive to store/have stock of 1/12th figures due to them taking more warehouse space.
- It is less practical to have deluxe big monster in 1/12 scale
- Each of the figures are more expensive costwise from bare plastic alone, because 1/12th figures require more plastic. It is therefore more expensive to army build 1/12th figures

All these results in the severe lack of stock and aftermarket price gouging, if you don't want to deal with that then you have to splurge a big amount of money for PO

Matching skin tone is incredibly hard though. I bought the black minotaur from 1.75 knowing that if it scrapes I can just paint it flat black, but the other skin tones have several shades of paint and it's gonna be incredibly hard to match it

I'm not being a 4H apologist or anything, as I've got burned hard with the chipping issues too, but the chipping problem is mostly due to flesh tone paint, rather than the naked body buck. My two minotaurs, naked green orc and naked black orc were fine, but Atlus and Barbarian builder suffer hard from paint chipping.

On Atlus and barbarian builder, the chip issues are EVERYWHERE, shoulders, knees, and even neck after you put the shoulder pauldron for a while. Sadly it doesnt seem like they fix the flesh tone issues on the barbarian builder reissue, which is shameful considering the builder costs like $50 and it's the only torso/arm you get

I did and it didn't work. I coated my Atlus and barbarian builder with flat varnish before trying to move them, left the varnish to dry, but then a single movement on the joint shear the paint that was underneath the varnish away and make it flake off.

On this note, now that I have my figures out it feels like there's another thing that needs to be addressed, it's the severe drop in quality on the 1.75 figures. Pic related is the black knight and Urzokk from 1.0. I forgot how awesome Urzokk is, how many layers of paint and shading he had, all his joints are tight. The black knight on the other hand, had way less shading and layer of paint, only flat black and flattish silver, with black wash on the flat silver. The silver paint along his pauldrons are kind of sloppy, the paint on his chest and crotch are fuzzy, and on mine there's even a paint glob on the purple thing on his crotch tabbard. This is not to add the 1.75 figures are all floppier especially on the lateral hip movement. The only true standout from 1.75 with detailed shading and color variation was Schaphoid but then again his shading could've been way way better than just random green shades on his crotch tabbard

With posing. 95% of the chipping comes from a literally single movement on the joint. If you already posed your figure and it survived the first few movement then seems like you're good.

The chip on the neck area on mine seemed due to storage, when I had the figures with the shoulder pauldron on and the paint on the pauldron just rubs onto the neck permanently

Those of you with All-Star Skapulars, is there shading on the back? My original one has shading on the back but the two All-Stars I got are just bright red on the back while the fronts are all dark and airbrushed.

On that note a lot of figures in general don't have the backs painted/weathered. Illgar and Tibius for example have perfectly clean backs.

Yeah I'm saying he's a standout, but still nowhere near the quality of 1.0 stuff. Despite him being a standout, the shading is not really on the same quality as the promo pic, and that random green splosh on his crotch tabbard is kind of lazy shading for no reason

I'd say chipping aside on the flesh tone, the paint quality on the 1.0 stuff were absolutely on par with the promo pics.

The 1.75 and all stars rerelease though were unacceptable decrease in paint quality for no reason, not to mention the joints are all floppier, flashing issues on the weapons, etc.

The lazy posing was pretty telling, like walking into an interview wearing casual clothes and no resume. Just didnt show how exciting and cool these figures are.

I understand the reason for single jointed elbow, to make the figure fairly modular, but those elbow are incredibly hard to pop, not to mention it is incredibly uncommon to have a matched skin color and interchangeable upper vs. lower arm on these figures. At the end it didn't really help the buyers to have more kitbash option and just allow the 4H to save some cost on double joints.

I have dozens of these figures and multiple anon admitted that none of the naked body nor the knights can two hand a sword. Also you can't stab with sword/spear without up down hinge motion on the arm.

Just to add, KS is an avenue so that a product can be kickstarted, hence the name onto the mass market. That's what BFS did with their line, and now they keep their stuff in stock and have regular waves like regular toys should be.

The 4H seems like they have absolutely no motivation to grow, as this is their 3rd 6 digit KS and it is still run like a garage kit project. Just look at the last update,

I have pretty much the exact same figure wants. I went in expecting 200$-300$ would be max.
I have been buying basically evil guys as well as D&D class archetypes.

I need hagnon because im a sucker for ghouls and skellies and especially transparent plastic. Brother mand is a must for reasons above.

Gobbos warband is also a must have

Orc queen and Jjuno are good for me because i mostly have the orcs and barbs from 1.0 even though i am not a fan of the female mushy body however they did look better in the toyfair photos.

Aza because shes the only true mage in the line up.

Elf ranger because ranger and likely the only elf I will buy.

Gwen because I did not actually pick up any knights in 1.0 she will be my first knight and she looks good. The guy thats been posting"why havent you added her" actually convinced me. She hits the paladin sweet spot.

Boarrior was cool at first for me but has sort of waned as only a meme or joke figure. I do want him as a beastman but im sort of meh by now.
Same with gryysha, he/she has a desert dweller bandit or merc look. a good mook warrior for my hero party to fight. Alsois unique with the helmet. The only reasons i want these two are their uniqueness but its not enough. They are the first to the chopping block.

I do need to add skeletitties and im thinking about Gadriel. I really cant go over 600$ though.
Thats where I am at now.

I have said before i sort of want gadriel for the angelic look. Not a fan of the black head but that white armor looks great. However it doesnt give me hope that in every pic including the toyfair one she seems to need the figure stand to stay up. I do want her for whatever adapter she has that makes the wings work on the bodies. I would love to use the bone wings and the other regular wings I have on my MLs.

Honestly its just a Shitshow. I feel like there was a few different camps of people that tried to push certain concepts and designs and when it didnt go their way they brigaded votes to ruin the other guys idea back and forth. Apparently the leather parts of the boots and gauntlets will still be leather, and there's votes going on now whether the kneepads and arm guards should be leather or metal. This round of voting alone greatly improved the look of this figure for me.

The hood was never going to be metallic blue. The hood and cape had their own vote and their own color. Which was indeed still blue (by one vote) but it was never going to be metallic.

Mostly facebook it seems. Even the people on the forums seem confused at the idea of the skeleton having mixed reactions. That said, most of it comes from the increased price for something that should be an army builder and not anything actually bad about the figure itself. People think two $18 skeleton legion figures, one of each gender, is a better option then one $33 figure with a swappable torso that will sit in your parts bin since you can't make use of the extra bodies.

At least it's not like Bandai SIC-tier where they give you 95% of the parts to build a complete second figure but leave out some key thing like hip or chest joints lol.

Yeah compared to my first one the red is a lot darker, and also his back isn't painted at all. Not having figures be as nice as the protos is one thing but not even being able to reproduce them accurately kind of sucks.

I'm the guy. I haven't updated since 4H hasn't formally listed the price of the unlocked femskellys. I know somebody said they'd be $33 but until I see it on their KS page I'm not comfortable listing it.

And who knows? When they get back tomorrow after toy fair they might drop a bombshell of a stretch goal that unlocks in a day.

On a side note did they every explain what the 'cracking' pics were supposed to mean? I had a theory that maybe they were going to be killed in their canon & be turned into evil undead versions of themselves (basically a new zombified paintjob). I have no interest in Artemyss but a ghoul fairy queen with rotted wings? Shit...I'd drop bank on that....

This was never a serious design option, but an attempt be Ed, the liaison between the boards and the 4H and the guy running the votes and doing the actual paint work on the figure itself, to try and pacify both camps of the hood/cape vote by offering a two-tone colored cape and hood option. It's an idea that while well intentioned, wasn't all that well executed. The dude is honestly one of the best parts of the boards and really doesn't deserve to get any hate as he's trying his best to be the link between the fans and the guys who run the place and usually helps in getting us some cool bonuses (extra heads, accessories and full characters even).

When the voting started for the entire thing, there was mock up (pic related) done that I more or less based most of my votes around. It showed a figure made mostly of browns, blacks and silver could look very striking and interesting.

At this point, the majority of it is a foregone conclusion. But with the current round of votes more or less stating that the leather parts of the gloves and boots WILL be brown leather, regardless of votes, I kind of have hope we can squeeze out at least something reminiscent of this design.

They actually mentioned in a video interview that they do have a wing adapter in progress (for the 1.0 figures) but as of now it sticks out a bit too much and they're not sure if they want to go forward with it yet. I'm assuming the 2.0 bodies use a different sized peg hole for their pauldrons and won't even need the adapter.
