>>6209582After doing a few Space Miner games, I figured out a way to make the glowing helmets, etc. look better. Before, the reflection from the UV lightbulbs showed up as obvious bright blue circles on smooth pieces (helmets, etc), and cast a noticeable blue light over the entire scene.
Around the second episode of Cleft 18, I got wise and started using the Hue/Saturation slider tool to first completely desaturate the blues in the photo, then the accompanying Lightness slider for that color.
The end result is that the blue light becomes gray, and then you can use the slider to adjust the brightness of the (no longer blue) light to darken it to match the surroundings. Once you get it right, you can make it look like something is glowing with its own light, WITHOUT having any of the surroundings lit up.
The downside to this is that if you have any blues in the scene, the color will get washed out and become jarringly darker than the surroundings.
