>>6235556Movies like this aren't made to satisfy anyone. They're made to give the general public something to spend two hours doing and then go "eh, that was alright." Other sources of revenue come from kids that parents want to shut up for a while, twentysomethings who remember MMPR from their childhoods but aren't picky enough to complain about the inaccuracy, or nerds ironically watching it so they can rage about it later online. Doesn't matter. All that matters is that people will pay their ten bucks. And it WILL happen.
Looking at this from a stereotypical evil money-grubbing CEO standpoint, they kinda did things right. They KNOW that a relatively small segment of their final viewing audience will rage over it, and that they can turn a profit on a big, loud, dumb, CGI-filled popcorn flick.
Also, no studio would have greenlit your hypothetical movie. Why break even making a tiny movie that will please a handful of nerds, when you can make a bland blockbuster that will make its budget back several times over?
