>>6258775I don't really think so. Yeah sofubi is neat but I really feel like it's a huge hipster magnet and that kind of kills it for me. Sure, super7 has made a couple jumbos but I mean for Christ's sake, Funko makes Hikari stuff now.

I know a ton of dudes who love it but I can't bring myself to buy any. Just seems like a game you can't win. They're expensive because they're meant to be expensive, not because they're 40 years old and some guy has passed it down to his kids and their kids and finally it gets sold. Sofubi is fragile, it decolors easily, it wouldnt last like almost literally any other toy from that era. The guy who had my Daimos before me had it stuffed in his attic for 30 years, and had nothing but good things to say about his memories of it.
I'm not saying sofubi is bad, really. Im just saying theres a much more modern market for these things and they're still being produced in such numbers, or intentionally small runs that you lose either way.
