- Don't use flash. At such short distance, the reflection break the effect.
- Set your monitor brightness to the maximum level available.
- Use lamps with a diffuser over them. A white thin paper sheet will work. This way, there won't be hard shadows over the monitor, which would give away the illusion. However, having as much light as possible is always a good idea.
However, I'm not an expert, so take my advice with a bit of caution.
