>>6339175I don't think there are any actual metaphors or sayings for Tsuchinoko like that. It was an urban myth creature that got really popular in the 70's. I think at one point there was a big prize money for capturing a real one so that fueled the myth even further, but nobody found it.
So Tsuchinoko does get brought up as an example of looking for something that doesn't exist or impossible to find.
I like this UMA category though. Hope to see Jinmenken (dog with human face) and other Japanese UMAs besides the popular worldwide ones. Ohh and little greys and UFOs too.
