Filter said light sources by putting paper towels, toilet paper or tissue paper over them.
Use LED bulbs so the paper does not burst into flames
In my opinion I find it easier to shoot if I silt back then zoom in rather than be up close all the time with the macro on.
Also the lamps don't have to be some expensive lamps marketed for photography. They can be the 10 dollar desk lamps from walmart.
The photo you posted is good in my opinion. The face just needs focused on a bit better it's kinda blurry.
When shooting try to stay still unless you have a camera with really fast shutter speed. Rest the camera on something or use a tripod. Also turn on image stabilization.
