You could use liftarms to add a bit more detail. There's also this 'technic disk' piece that looks like it could work.

They hang out wherever i go and get into shenanigans together.
I don't animate/move them around and do voices for them or anything of that level. But it happens in my brain and i can envision in very vividly.
If i ever get into the mindset to do that level of play i used to do as a kid, i'd love to do it. But it just hasn't really happened since.

Hello /lg/, today, I may have possibly made the greatest garage sale purchase in my life. In the back of some lady's garages were four gallon bags of grey legos. I asked her how much she would sell them for, and she responded $5. I brought them home and my hunch was correct, it was a Lego Starwars Star Destroyer 10030. I feel almost terrible for taking it from her, but she should have known better.

My question is, if I have the complete destroyer in good condition, but no box, instructions, plaque, or rebel cruiser, how much could I sell my kit for?

currently having a blast building this bitch.

Congratulations! Really great find. A pity tough that it's incomplete, especially the plaque and instructions, which I know that UCS collectors really find important.

As for how much you'll get, well a hell of a lot more than 5 bucks lol. I looked on Bricklink, and used, complete ones goes for around 900 bucks on average. So it's up to the buyer, really, but I don't think you would get less than, say, 500-600.

I'm not a build genius but I think mixel joints could help with Ur build as they are smaller and thus you can create more intricate connections. My guess is to look into those and expand the size of Ur moc a bit in order to incorporate more detail and functionality for arms/legs.

Lego noob reporting in. I ordered the Saturn V from the Lego store (online) the day it was released. Since then its status has changed 3-4 times and today I received notice it would be delayed by two weeks after having been told it would ship 6/16 twice by customer service. Now I'm beginning to doubt I'll even receive a kit. Meanwhile there are sets priced 3x retail available on eBay and Amazon and tons of build videos up on YouTube. Very frustrating.

Is this kind of service normal for Lego? Is their product line so strong they can completely fuck up new product roll outs and no one cares? As I understand it, the only way you could get a Saturn V was to order at midnight online or stand in line at a store and hope they have a kit.

TL;DR - Why won't Lego shut up and take my money.

Same thing happened with the Exo-Suit. Now it's easy to get for retail.

As I mentioned, I'm a Lego noob, so I had no idea there would be so many problems ordering Day 1.

Also, one thing I did know was that certain sets go out of production and end up costing 3-4x retail from a re-seller. I didn't want to pay that much for a set.

Don't worry. Very few sets go out of production before everyone who wants it has a chance to get them. I'd say over 80% of sets can be found at near MSRP for a good bit even after they are done being produced.

I ordered mine at about 6:30 AM EST on release day. It said, at that point, that it was backordered until the 19th.

According to Lego and FedEx, mine shipped yesterday and should be here by the end of the day on the 8th.

Those arms for fingers always look incomplete to me, maybe add little claws to the ends? There's not many good options for fingertips.

Otherwise it looks really good. The Tox mech also, love the color scheme.

Hey newfriends, settle down and I'll explain how the MORE VALUABLE THAN GOLD meme works.

When a $400+ Ultimate Collector's Series set is released, not a lot of people buy it, because it's $400+ and not many stores carry it. This business model ensures that the people who have $400+ to blow on a single set will go through the effort of seeking it out for purchase, making it an "elusive and rare" set that not a lot of people get to see on shelves. This means that five years after stores stop stocking it, there aren't a lot of unopened sets, and because it's Star Wars/ other world-recognized brand, there will always be some people willing to pay $2000 for two pounds of plastic because it's an "elusive and rare" set, which helps to justify the exorbitant cost.

The Saturn rocket is not a $400+ UCS set. Lego will make several production runs of the Saturn rocket because in this case, their more profitable business model is to make sure it's available to as many consumers as possible, as it is a much more affordable model.

As pointed out upthread, the Exo-Suit went through this same SOLD OUT FOREVER OMGWTF phase where the green space minifigs were selling for $15-20 each on Bricklink despite the set retailing for less than $40 and including two of them. A couple months later, the new production run started, and suddenly all those scalpers couldn't compete because Amazon was selling the Exo-Suit new for $35.

tl;dr if you didn't get a rocket just be patient and wait a goddamn minute, Lego will be more than happy to take your money.

Just chiming in to say that I dig this build. The mech's got a good shape to it. I like how the knee joints are covered (but I wonder how much it hampers articulation). The yelllow-green color scheme works fine, I think.

I guess my only complaint is that it looks too "heroic" if that makes sense. It's needs to be a bit more angular or something. The giant claw hand of the original mech gives it a sinister asymmetricality. I don't know why, but the use of those sloped 1x2 vents on the original also add to the "bad guy" vibe. If it fits in with your personal head-canon, then more power to you.

Knees are working fine for me, even though can't even reach 90 degrees and ball joints aren't so strong, making some poses tricky and unstable.

I can see how it might feel "heroic" to you, most likely rounded shape of arms gives that idea. But it's fine for me. As for the claw, i thought about it (since asymmetry is kinda my fetish), but haven't yet figured out how to combine claw and a nozzle of "acid spitter" in badass way. Might use head from one of Elves dragon, but don't know.

yeah, it's mostly Mega, and I have no idea how much Tyco mostly just a bunch of weird kinda triangular or corner pieces, no real sets or anything. Most pieces that are Mega come from the Kittyhawk aircraft carrier set, some old hovercraft set, and some big blue plane set (like blue thunder, but not the same because it has a special bubble canopy piece)

I have the potential to pick up a Captain Rex AT-TE (#75157) for $65 and a 2010 AT-AT Walker (#8129) for $300

Are either of these good deals? The Rex Walker seems VERY cheap for new in the box, but what about the AT-AT Walker? It is also new in box and untouched.

They would go great together considering they fought each other in the Rebels animation, but to help perform a large scale battle between Resistance/Alliance and Empire/First Order....theyd both be VERY good figures.

Rex's AT-TE is underwhelming. There's a couple comparison videos on youtube to show the differences between it and the older ones.

It doesn't have that much usable surface area, and I'm not personally a fan of the neon yellows/blues. I'd probably start by taking those off and remodeling it into a proper weapons platform. More walkways would be good.

It's definitely a good one to greeble, it's covered with open studs on the sides.

Yes...the Rex AT-TE is a unopened set with all 5 minifigs.

Like I said, Im probably going to replace the Yellow plates with a red similar to the flat pieces near them and the Blue plates I'll probably replace with the same Red color or maybe White plates. Same with the brown pieces around the Blue area (replacing them with red).

I'll probably keep the different colored leg though, only to keep the aesthetic of it being a VERY OLD AT-TE and maybe they had to replace one of the legs.

What are you building?

Also keep in mind that building big doesn't automatically mean it's going to be good. If you're not already extremely adept at building then don't waste your time and money. Or you'll just end up with a big fugly pile of bricks.

That joke did have a background though--namely, the numerous homosexual interpretations and implied homosexual subtext within Batman. Doctor Quis basically has free heals according to the potion rules, so he's a must.

Inventor Penkala seems like a good way to boost the power of all crew members through the creation of the bizarre but effective forms.

The third slot is a toss up between Bosun Joy for her extra storage space, which would allow for planning for more situations at once. The other candidate is Engineer Lang, repairing machines and electronics could be a valuable skill for moving through areas quickly, or getting the heck out of them. (repairing control panels and fixing ships comes to mind) I'd likely go for the extra storage space though, I tend to hoard items.

I like to get inspired by the builds included in the instructions, combine some sets, rebuild them to look cooler or fulfill an Idea I have. I have a bulk collection and sometimes I dump sections of it out and build with the cooler looking spacey stuff. Just depends on my mood. Pic related is one such example of when that went especially well

Doing backstories is part of the fun.
Posing around the things you build around in displays, sometimes make pictures of it or even comics or stories.
Some people use them as tabletop games or make working technic rc vehicles for competitions for more "direct play". Although some go full real-time pretend pew-pew scenarios because fuck the police.

However building a set out of the box is perfectly fine too if you get enjoyment out of that.

Well, the long-term solution is to work on your OCD by forcing yourself to take models apart and not put them back together, but the short-term solution would be to buy some pieces you think are cool on Bricklink and build something with them.

Afaik there are no pre-orders for Ideas sets though, just like there weren't for the Saturn V. Besides, just pay attention to the lego webshop one day before the release date. I checked it on 31st May afternoon and saw that the Saturn V was avail. Quickly ordered it and it arrived two days ago. Don't be a lazy dick if you want to buy it on release day.

Only thing i'd look into is the wings being rather angular and maybe shape the transition into the rounded pieces a bit more gradual.

Yes, I was salivating at the thought of it going down to 50% or so as it seemed very unpopular, but I've only found 2 at 35% off. I can always use bleys and the dark tan and dark blue are super useful to me. Plus the scrapper family are a new shade of flesh, I dunno if that's a plus or minus for you.

Ditching the dishes and shortening the thrusters would make them look more like turbines/turbojets than giant fuckoff thrusters, if that's what you're looking for. If you want to rotate them properly you'll have to angle them from the end of the wings, or use something hinged instead of a technic joint.

My personal preference would have them sit behind the wings (like now) instead of at the end, but that's up to you, anon.

Bought a little box of spaceship building parts to uni, it's been fun finding different models I can build with the same parts.

Built a lil' police cruiser, for use in cities and open areas, piloted by the closest thing I have to a future cop.

The diagonal bricks on the wings are surprisingly stable, it's so satisfying when a random combo of bricks actually lines up and works well

Quite frankly, I can't buy Lepin blocks because I've read articles that say they get blocked in my country and I don't wanna get a 200€ fine. It sucks, I wanted to make some Star Trek models and a Few Lepin sets had the parts I needed.

It says that a few packages are blocked in customs due to a recent legal battle between Lego and Lepin.

Here we can see the comments regarding the situation and some of them have proof that their sets are being blocked.
