But for everyone else who doesn't want dedicate an entire case to one figure and have like a 4ft plastic monster on display, it's a bad idea to go MP sized for combiners.

Pretty much. I'm tailoring my collection to MT/FP/PE stylized aesthetic which tends to be smaller scale and even that narrow field of smaller shit is becoming untenable. I can't imagine someone trying to find space for a ton of mp combines and titan scale bots. I want to make room for one of the devil stinger/pandinus molds but it's way to big to fit unless on permanent throne duty for rioter.

See, I'd rather they give rebirth to the THS type of toys.
Articualted tiny robot modes that are detailed with optional parts like hands, faces, effects, ect.
Like Iron Factory and who else just did a Starscream, mix them together, make it a bit more MP like instead of cartoon like and you'd have my money.

As much as Quakewave stole G1 Soundwave's engineering. Its a silly issue to have; Shockwave's original toy was really close to fiction accurate, its no wonder two updates would be similar.

Sovereign is the best MP Galvs we're gonna get. Takara could maybe do better, but looking at the most recent MPs I doubt it.

Despotron is the best built megatron ever made.

Apollyon is outdated but still looks okay.

Mightron is very bricklike but is the closest to what old Hasui MP megatron would look like.

MP-36 best captures the shitty sunbow model and is as articulated as Despotron, but suffers from poor design problems and can be fragile.

AFAIK, Legends only has more paint used for details not fully painted figures like the MP line. I think he was posting that Galvatron to show the color.

No idea why people are so obsessed with the paint now, finer sculpted details always get weird and fudgy with paint over them.

It's really so frustrating that they decided to plop Galvatron just in the middle of Titans Return and ruin the head to accomodate to the gimmick. They were so close to a good CHUG Galvatron and just like that fucked it up for no reason.

Like, wasn't the prototype ready for production by the end of Combiner Wars? Couldn't they use it on the final waves or post-pone it or something?

CW was suppose to be longer and they were planning on the standalone Trion and Galvatron before they decided to end it @ six waves and continue with a new line of TR. I sat out most of CW. I bought Bruticus because he's probably my favorite combiner (though the seacons come close purely on design. Not enough fiction for them).

Other than that it was Ultra Magnus and some of the legends. The rest of the line fell flat with me.

I've always absolutely hated the "arm straight out, elbow would have to bend up rather than in or down" placement for cannons and guns on tfs.

Actually, Renderform has a set with a new head, extra faces, cannon placement changer, and a BFG. The head is just a head, but it can fit in the chest when in the alt modes.

Problem is that the set is 45 burger bucks, which is just ridiculous. At that point you might as well just save up for a better stand alone Galvatron.

That's TR Galvatron's biggest issue. People really want to like him, but stock he's just irredeemably awful, and the only upgrade kits worth getting are so expensive you're seriously just better off getting a 3P instead. People need to learn to accept when something is just a bad product that isn't worth getting.

His name is Obsidian and he is great. I'm just waiting to see how this one turns out to get it with Titanika, I'm not too hyped about how the legs combine to give him his BM look.

A shame he and Strika aren't used in the comics, though, they are the best and least controversial piece of lore to be introduced during Beast Machines. All this dumb shit about Starscream and the Combaticons when those two would be extremely loyal and are better at the job than the guys that are not only always beaten by rescue personnel but also got chucked into prison for their weekly coups.

It's still a tremendous waste to try and upgrade a $45 toy with over $80-120+ of stuff, when you could just buy a $150-ish 3P release and have something actually engineered to warrant such a price. It's not like the CW combiners where a single cheapo kit can massively improve something thats already decent by default. The PMP mold just isn't really that good, and once you add on Godbomber and 3P upgrades (and tack on the extra dosh that the LG or Hasbro set costs), it swiftly becomes a question of why you're even bothering, instead of just outright buying a better figure when the various PMP's that are in the works by 3P's will no doubt be cheaper and be out soon-ish.

Maybe I'm just old school, but I got into 3P Transformers because I like retail transformers, and wanted things to help improve my retail Transformers and fill gaps in that collection. Yup just found out about this and impulse purchased him for about $150 shipped from china land.

Little delayed in stuff cuz doing some surgery. Already combind him but not off would not detach. Thr red circle is a spot where a spring loaded tab got stuck inside and jammed up the tab on the other side. Had to pull out slaughts shoulder and some more screws. There is some kinda joke about these two being gay now I am sure.

So got Not Offs combinder peg fixed. So far big issues I can see is some joints are WAY tighty, keeping screw drivers and lube at the ready. There are also a few spots of sprew nubs and kinda sloppy paint. The plastic it self is not top notch but it feels strong but has that shiny 'toy' look to it. From that I understand this is a 20% upscale of thr normal warbotron.

I've heard plenty good about them, which is one reason I went for it. The second main problem (besides the space constraints) is that I got them all at once, so it makes it a difficulty to enjoy them separately long enough before I'm going to feel compelled to combine them in some fashion.

Votex has the best play patten of them all. The 4 helicopter blades are swords he can hold or arm mount with an extra peice. The nose cone parts forms all into a cannon and the shulder cannons can be plugged on and off diffrent ports on him.

MP scale combiners are based one of two ways. The gestalt is MP scale which means fuck huge, or the characters individually are MP scale which means all the limbs are sideswipe size, and the torso is about seeker or a hair larger size. You can't have both ways without excessive partsforming.

In that case basically any of the "Voyager/Leader" combiners out now would fit that. TFC poseidon, KO OS Warbotron, TFC Hades.

The big problem is getting a set without glaring issues, so far that's more or less only Toyworlds Devy if you like OX style, and Also TFC's Poseidon. More or less every other combiner in the size class is fucked one way or another.

As with almost every MMC figure I own, I know next to nothing about the character but will be picking him up anyway because he looks fucking neato.

Never heard of Overlord before Carnifex beause I never watched Japan G1 shows or read the comics.

Never knew about the DJD before MMC started doing them and yet I have all three released members so far.

Was only vaguely aware of Predaking, now own Nero Rex.

Still have no idea who Turmoil is but love Commotus.

I just fucking love the toys.

I'm so on the fence about Striker Noir that it's ridiculous. On the one hand, I'm not the biggest fan of the stylized look nor the price tag for what's basically a Figuarts figure that turns into a shitty truck. How do people here feel about asymmetrical transformations like Rioter Despotron?

It feels odd that he is the only modern transformer I can think of, modern or otherwise, with asymmetrical engineering for transformation. Does anyone else really do it?

his engineering is symmetrical for the most part, the only bits that arent symmetrical are on his knees which makes trigger portion, it's essentially the same transformation as Classics Megatron only without the mass fucking shell, and instead of splaying out the arms you push them into the barrel of the gun.

Seems kind of strange that they would need to seeing as how Metroplex's feet don't really do much for transformation.

The worst part is it's so close to being good, but they just completely gave up on the legs. The thighs need to be higher and closer to the rear and her shins need to open or be more hidden by the hood, which also needs the fucking wheels on the inside.

For fucks sake, the generations did everything better. All the yneed to do is give her not shit arms with 5mm hands, torso joints, and a more articulate backpack.

There's a fucking tfw custom that is a perfect template on how to do it, and they still can't fucking manage.

The Gen toy could honestly just make the hood panels to fold into the sides of the pylons, and fold the hinged white car part at the bottom onto the bottom of the pylons/inside of them, making them more squared off and solid looking. Or just make the hood depress into her actual back, leaving the pylon bits hanging there.

They customized her a lot. She's got a ball joint torso, wrist swivels, proper hands that can hold the gun normally, added head articulation, less restricted feet, and a more articulated and partially removable back pack.

It's actually really disappointing that the Weijang Arcee didn't add any new engineering besides the removable backpack. If someone just aped that guys custom in a fully plastic KO with the SDCC 5mm hands and new weapons to accommodate them, I'd but it and every recolor and retool.

I find it pretty annoying that that is the only change they've made. Out of all the fixable issues generations Arcee has the backpack just isn't one of them. Instead of better hands, better ankles, better head articulation, an attempt at waist articulation, they just turned a shellformer into a partsformer and made it MP scale.

On one hand, it looks like a good G1 Ironhide representative, which the universe and CW figures fail to stand in for

On the other hand, if it's like Soundwave, it'll be too small for Deluxe scale, which will conflict with one of the reasons I want a good deluxe scale Ironhide

I kind of like Allen. Kind of. The plastic is really heavy and durable, but that's kind of a necessity because of how many parts are 'fat chunks on thin hinges'. He's SOLID in any mode, though not too fun to get him there. You need strong fingers to pry apart some of the pegged bits. And you're probably unprepared for how goddamned big he is. He FEELS bigger than he really is, just from the almost-parade-float roundness to his proportions.

All in all, unless he is really cheap, I'd wait. More interested in Saltus myself.

I actually like Hot Toys stuff and even I think it's not worth it. Even ignoring the random dumb as hell Starscream pack, it's nothing remarkable or special. The ThreeA one looks much better, but it's also more expensive and more stylized.

Shit I kind of want anyone to tackle movie toys. A big accurate Ironhide would be really boss. He's not even that hard to do, just take the deluxe one and improve it. Only actual impossible thing are the wheels as his hips.

Wei Jiang's Hound and Evasion optimus are both pretty great. We're also getting a Bonecrusher and some Wreckers by some company I forget.

The MPMs are looking really good as well, though Bumblebee's colors suck.
