basically there are 2 types of transformers fans
those who love the human plot points, and those who love the robot plot points
TF1 & 2 were very heavy on the human plot points, 3 was less so, but still had this focal point of Sam trying to figure out his place in the world.
4 was "here's random humans dragged along for the ride as we delve deep into TF lore"
I mean, the macguffin was in human hands, but literally the entire plot of the movie could have been done with no humans at all.
Which is why many people loved it, but why fans of the first 3 hated it.
TF5 is a mix of the two, so it should please most fans.
