Got a nice little haul of mecha stuff in courtesy of HLJ! Didn't get a 20th anniversary sale freebie though, tch. I guess because I requested shipping on the last day of the sale, but it actually shipped two days later.
>>6404079 I didn't even know a marking set was announced for the Prototype, cool! May be no pics because they don't have the decals ready yet. Has happened before with the Guncannon DT, where the decals were finished so late they mailed them separately.
>>6405233 I also missed the VF-2 preorder. :(
I had set a reminder for myself that morning, but completely forgot by evening and of course my phone was in another room when the alert went off, heh.

Anonymous
>>6408907 Couple things that were new to me; the roadway piece can peg onto the peg-base (you get two bases). A bit too small for a command car, unfortunately.
The bottom of the buildings have holes for stands! I'd always thought the bottoms were just hollow, so that's pretty neat.
>>6408906 Hah, yeah, I realized it right after I hit post. Ah well.
Anonymous
>>6408911 As you might have guessed from the previous pic, I especially wanted to see how these buildings would scale with the Patlabor RDs.
If you look at the size of the doorways on the buildings to either side of Alphonse, I think the buildings scale pretty well with the RD. The buildings should probably be a bit larger in relation to Alphonse, but it's not bad at all.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>6408915 Brocken's signal light club makes the scale discrepancy a bit more obvious, haha, but the buildings still look great as backdrops for Labors.
Really happy with these buildings, and while I'd still hesitate to pay full price for 'em, they're well worth grabbing on sale

Still have yet to watch Code Geass, but upon closer inspection of the Lancelot 'Air Cavalry' (comparing with animation, accessories, fights) it's pretty darn cool. I'm glad, given how much I like Lancelot in another series. The old gold/pearl version up on Mandarake IS pretty tempting as well, never thought something like that could look so good.
Anonymous
>>6408970 >Still have yet to watch Code Geass, Watch it, it's one hell of a fun bullshit ride, the animation is so good for all the mecha it's a shame we rarely get shit like it only a decade later.

You should be talking about the new Pacific Rim figures, nothing else is relevant. Source: Me, Myself, & I

>>6408989 I really should, it'll undoubtedly make a good contrast to Fafner which I also just began. It's a plan then.
I didn't say it earlier, but it's pretty neat how the control area for Lancelot is on the back and I'd like to think it can detach in-universe, or its inability to do so something the toy is being accurate about?
>>6409087 But how much is there to talk about this early on? I've only seen images of Gipsy and I like it, it's a good progression. The old one held a Spartan/Mjolnir charm for me though.

>>6409114 >it'll undoubtedly make a good contrast to Fafner Oh christ it absolutely will
>I'd like to think it can detach in-universe, or its inability to do so something the toy is being accurate about? The Knightmare Frame cockpits have an eject block built into them, Lancelot being a prototype doesn't have that since they spent all their money on the latest technology for it and couldn't afford to build it in.
I don't own any Geass RD's yet unfortunately so I dunno if other figures actually have this feature, there was one really dedicated Geass anon that has them all though so if he's around he might know.
Anonymous
>>6409169 >>6409114 I'm not the Code Geass anon you mentioned, but a friend of mine has the older releases of Lancelot and Guren, as well as the Gawain and one other that I can't quite remember the name of.
ANYWAY, unfortunately the figures don't seem to feature the ejection block system that I know of. I do know my friend's Gawain had an opening cockpit though.
Anonymous
>>6409576 Ah, now the ball is in MY court! I, the anon who has collected the entire Geass RD line!
Some of the old releases do have detachable cockpits, the old Guren Flight Type, Akatsuki, Zangetsu, and Gekka. None of the others do.
Folka
Given the discount on PlayAsia because of the purchasing of SRW V, plus credit I had from them, I got this at 100$. Seems pretty fair. I can't wait for it to arrive, from the video review it has the perfect articulations I have waited for years on a Robot Spirits (only Ingram 1 has similar shoulder joints)

>>6410123 its so good that bandai used their power trying to stop them from releasing it. It got delay for almost a year because of that. But then bandai is making their own version too so that's probably the main reason behind it.

After watching the first two episodes the Knights and Magic robots really need to come with magic rods. This would also be an ideal line for some flame effects but what can you do. I wonder why Bandai never releases these figures timed to the initial airing of the anime that they're based on. They always come out after it's started or even after it's done. It's not like they usually cancel the release if the show is a dud, so why not play off the hype by having them in stores as people are watching the show?

Force Impulse and Luna's Zaku Warrior are a solid pair of RDs!

>>6410123 >>6410130 >>6410133 Wow, that looks fantastic! The light-up feature is seriously awesome, I wonder if the promo image of Bandai's Qan[T] is hinting at a similar feature.

>>6412194 The Zaku Warrior is particularly nice. My one minor gripe is that you can't get the Zaku's legs to pose straight down (G1 Transformer style). The way they are in
>>6412194 is as close as they'll come together, unless I'm missing something.
Not a big deal, as I wouldn't ever really pose the Zaku without placing it into an A-stance of some kind, but it just seems like an unusual limitation. Aside from that gripe, the RD is a great representation of the MS. I'm shocked Bandai never re-painted this into at least a grunt green.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>6412218 Force Impulse is nice too, I just like the design of the Zaku more, hehe. Articulation is excellent; getting Impulse a two-handed grip on the anti-ship sword was a breeze. My one gripe for Impulse is with the anti-ship sword, though. The sword splits apart to accommodate the Jesus-impaling gimmick, which is to be expected. But when you have the sword assembled, the connection point between the two halves is glaringly obvious. Bandai definitely could have done a much better job with that.

I think Bandai is trying to present Robot Damashii as being definitive but still affordable for some lines (Knights and Magic and Pacific Rim).

>>6433103 >Yeah, I noticed that in the description. Shame there's no pictures. I really don't know what's going on with the pictures they handed out to shops and even have on their site. Con photos legitimately cover more over all than the official product page.
>>6433125 This is also a strange lack of detail. Which is it going to be? Is the product page not final, are these not going to be on the actual model, are they going to be stickers instead? I know we have months for things to change, but the mess of differing descriptions and lack of pictures for certain things is plain weird.

>>6433137 I really hope the SOC line continues with Striker Eureka and Cherno Alpha.
This really is nice because Del Toro loved Japanese things and for Bandai to design them is the best thing to happen.
Hollywood CGI mech x Japanese toy design=BOOM!

Hopefully the SOC line will even get to Tacit Ronin after the first movie's main mechs as it also has a wonderfully unique shape.

>>6433131 >but don't expect an ab crunch or full kneeling pose At the very least it looks like Gipsy is going to be fully functional. You can see the waist has some movement going on here
>>6432861 Granted, it seems like the DESIGN for some of these Jaegers intentionally limits articulation, which in-universe makes sense for some of them and the fact that they're not trying to be Gundam or always use martial arts for combat.

TOYARK: SDCC 2017 Gallery – Tamashii Nations New Pacific Rim, Star Wars and Closer Looks at New DBZ>In the gallery here they all look better than the product page shots. Think that meeting the dealing for the new movie is why not everything is up-to-date? Makes sense to focus on the products more than product pages to an extent.

RD Gipsy is 17cm and Phoenix is 15mm. Taller than the typical RD and Figuarts. There must be a catch. Is this their go at a factory in Vietnam and super low profit margins to test budget products?
Anonymous
>>6433289 Probably both. I imagine they know these designs won't appeal as much as the first movie so they are just going to go as cheap as possible and churn out an entire line for something not much more than the cost of a single anime RD figure.
Wonder if this means some cheap grunt suits from Gundam somewhere down the line.
Anonymous
>>6433304 >I imagine they know these designs won't appeal as much as the first movie To be fair, the first movie's designs didn't exactly set the world on fire either.
Pacific Rim is still very much an untested IP.

Not even sure what I felt was missing, maybe the hype made me expect something more over the top. Totally see why some people love it though.

I missed the pre-order on AmiAmi. BBTS has it for 249.99 with 4 buck shipping. I know the figure itself is much cheaper from import sites, but I've never ordered a SoC so I don't know what the shipping rates would be like. Could they be considered comparable, and not a terrible price to order from BBTS?
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>6434136 Honestly? Grab it from BBTS or Amazon. With shipping and without a pre-order discount you're not going to beat the price there. It's a $40 or so difference between what HLJ was offering as a discount and what Amazon's price is, and shipping is going to eat at least $30 of that.

Just ordered ANIME full armor Gundam. I've Ben holding off on any RDs for the ANIME versions but I'm a sucker for army green suits so I had to. The new Sniper is going to be basically this mold, right? I might get two to be this guy's squad if I like him enough.
