So it's between this guy and the Mafex Spider-Man Homecoming Spider-Man. They both ship around the same time and needless to say I'm conflicted. Help me decide

Mafex figures never look as good as the prototypes and are mostly notorious for appalling QC issues.

Mezco's usually come out looking better than the prototype and have a reputation for pretty solid QC.

Seems like a no-brainer, especially seeing as X-Men doesn't get much merchandise any more.

MAFEX quality is really spotty in my experience. I've gotten a kind of fucked up figure from Mezco once too but I've bought a ton of them and the rest have been fine. Every MAFEX figure I've bought has been kind of troublesome. Some in just small annoying ways, some in kind of figure-ruining ways. I think that Spider-Man looks really good, better than the SHF looks-wise, but I'm personally not comfortable buying it unless I see a lot of positive reviews that say the quality has stepped up compared to previous releases in the line.

I want to like Mafex but they're either shady or incompetent. Their figures look great but the minute you touch them they fall apart, even the Deadshot which just came out has had the usual Mafex QC problems. Since they're showing no signs of improving, I'm swearing off them

Oh, one other thing: Mafex figures shelfwarm. Mezco figures go for silly prices on the aftermarket once they're out. So even if you don't like the Wolverine, you could hold onto it for a couple of months and probably make a small profit on it.

Homecoming Spiderman will almost definitely get a Figuarts (which are 90% of the time better than Mafex)

Wolverine will sell out and you'll be left paying rape prices if you want it.
Spider-Man will be getting released by multiple makers, including Mezco, so you'll have plenty of versions to choose from eventually.

Avoid both. Mafex is shit, so that's a no-brainer. Plus there will always be more cinematic Spideys to choose from.

The only redeeming aspect of that god awful looking Wolverine is the head sculpt and its possible aftermarket price jump. And if the latter seems like a plus like with >>6419382 then you're a scalpershit NEET and should probably find a real job.

OP here. Do you guys think pre-ordering the wolverine would be worth it? It's definitely the one I'm leaning towards at this point. I would get the mezco old man logan but that doesn't come out till next year and fuck a wait.

You're going to have to wait for Wolverine anyway. Their shipping dates tend to get pushed back regardless. And here's the other thing: if you get it and decide you don't want it after seeing reviews, you can sell the unopened figure after the fact. It really won't hurt you to pre-order it--especially if you do it direct through Mezco and pay with a credit card so that they don't charge you until like a week before it ships. Their customer service is also quite good at handling defects.

Plus the mezco wolverine will at minimum hold its value, so if you change your mind you can cash out on it easy.

Mafex QC is hit or miss but lately they definitely improved if someone denies that they haven't been paying attention to it.
Mezco is usually pretty good so if you don't go with him you probably regret it when you see the aftermarket prices.
Now Mafex do shelfwarm but good Mafex figures don't. The Batman from BvS is an example
