And then it hit me.
The other two leaders both have their core bots have a vehicle mode that can function independently of the trailer, then a deluxe robot, and a leader robot.
Then it hit me
Optimal Optimus' robot and ape modes are basically just a waist swivel and rotating the arms down, which means he can transform effectively the same as Rodimus' robot mode and it still work for both ape and bot mode.
His vehicle modes are pretty much variations of "put me on my belly" so it shouldn't be hard.
What's REALLY interesting is, based on the leaks, I don't think Optimus Prime transforms like Rodimus at all. Those blue bits on his back seem to be the trailer feet, not the truck bed. I think instead of becoming the torso/head/arms, Optimus becomes the legs and the trailer goes on top of him. You can tell it's not the same windshields as the car mode, the seams aren't in the same places.
