>>6456926You see, anon. As I started to regain an interest in paleontology after my post youth cynicism had faded a bit I found myself at a whole new world of complete new discoveries. I had no idea dimetrodons were actually older than dinosaurs and not dinos at all, they were synapsids, closer related to us than to actual dinosaurs.
I learned that all the depictions of dinosaurs I grew up with were heavily outdated and inaccurate. They didn't walk erect, they didn't drag their tails on the ground, they couldn't have their arms held down suspended like that. In short, they didn't look stupid like pic related.
Then I found out there were a lot of people heavily invested in proving these new notions wrongs and maintaining the old status quo. I dug deeper and found out the reason. Creationists have been using these outdated designs to support that humans and dinosaurs coexisted, therefore the Bible isn't wrong by proxy and all their doctrine isn't completely invalidated.
There's a couple of "ancient" art depicting humans and dinosaurs in vases, pots, caves, stones and such. Being obviously fake as they are, they all depict dinosaurs in a highly inaccurate fashion, which matches the popular human notion we had at the time these hoaxes took place.
In short, to confirm that dinosaurs had feathers is to confirm evolution and also to prove all depictions of humans and dinosaurs as fake, thus destroying all the already short evidence creationists had.
So if you see someone bitching and moaning about scientific dinosaurs it's more likely that they are doing it out of religious agenda than actual nostalgia.
