So I cut out a square in the bottom of Repugnus' chest cavity so that the TM could sit the way Fangry's sits, but it turns out Repugnus' is just too much of a fathead to do that. Basically every other TM fits in fine the new way.

I own a (damaged) diabattles v2 and while I got it for the price of a regular mp car its also the size of one, I'd had more fun with another mp car for less at full rrp

Regardless, it seems like it has the same kind of demographic as indie toys; You buy it because you admire the figure in a vacuum and make your own story around that specific figure. There's all sorts of pegs and ports and sliderails on the toys that interact with eachother to encourage thinking outside the box.
The only flaw I can see to the new Diaclone line is that there is NO fucking antagonist figures yet. Even the original line had the proto-insecticons.

The Japanese have this thing about never making villains because they don't sell. Transformer's is one of the rare exceptions to this for some reason. Probably because the molds are already made most of the time. But yeah, asking for villains to get made in 90% of Japanese toylines is basically falling on deaf fucking ears.

mp36's biggest issue boils down to the one sole problem, paint, even the inside of the silencer barrel is painted and even following the instructions to the letter can be detrimental, why paint an area you can't see?

Still, his articulation and expressiveness are his highlights, I pray any redeco's are done in just bare plastic, I transformed mine once, never again

The original toys have a pinker torso and red arms. It's not supposed to be all one shade of red like Hasbro's. Also the head color schemes are more accurate, the original toys don't have white faces.

So let me get this shit straight... Takara made Overlord have two dummy godmaster engines in his chest (which don't look removable) and gave it two head masters: one male face and one feminine face. Is this actually what Takara did instead of just making two actual godmasters and giving us a dummy head? That's more stupid than some of the shit Hasbro pulls. It's inexcusable.

Just give me the product as it should be. Right now I'm internally debating if I should get LG Overlord but I really fucking hate the face sculpts and the fake godmasters. I could just go the hasbro route and get an upgrade kit later down the road but either way it's a shitty option.

That unfortunately, will not happen. The Gen line is made to fit Walmart, and Walmart is not gonna let toys get beyond whatever it dictates in terms of size and price. That will harshly limit what Hasbro can make.

Because Takara just reuses Hasbro molds and slaps a new coat of paint on it (or doesn't even do that, in the case of some figures, it just recolors the plastic and thats it), this limits what Takara can do, because the molds they have available are made to fit a US retail chain that caters to poor people. The only thing Takara really makes are MP's, which currently are being limited to strict cartoon only designs and paint jobs.

tl;dr You're fucked, I'm fucked, we're all fucked by the very nature of the beast that is at work here.

I thought the mini figures turned into the powermaster engines in the chest just like the POTP masters. Also thought the Takara is not a headmaster.

I like the darker Takara colors, but I'm good with the Hasbro I have.

Hasbro's isn't that great but Takara's is made of bad decisions. Waste your money if you want, but don't pretend it's a clear-cut winner just because the logo on the box is blue instead of turquoise.

Lots of companies do this crap, collectors defend it with "it makes it look less like a toy" or some other nonsense, but it just leads to extra paint chipping.

He's pretty cool. the fact he has a decent lynx fanmode makes him well worth it to me. Combiner mode suffers from loose hips sometimes, but it has a nice design and shouldn't be a problem once you have it set up. I paid $40 for him and have yet to regret the cost.

I prefer the lighter blue as it pops more and shows off the sculpted details better, the grey/black elbows and crotch also add much needed color separation. The dummy powermasters don't look great and the remolded chest flaps to hide it also look worse. All three heads are shit though.

I recommend getting the Takara Lynx Master set with him. His colors look nice and crisp and his mouth detailing looks neat. Plus the set comes with Combiner Wars Ratchet which is unique to that release with no US equivalent. It's pricier and 5 figures instead of just 1, but they're all pretty solid figures with nice paintjobs at least. The Hasbro Sky Lynx is fine, but his plastic color looks like it's from the home of a smoker in hand - Takaras doesn't.

Don't forget that Lynx Master's torso mode has way tighter joints all around. The shoulders don't lock in anywhere but they hold on noticeably tighter and the thigh ratchets are the best of all torsos since he doesn't have any wonble and has way more outward clicks.

On the Hasbro version, someone might release Godmasters bits that can be used with TM. I managed to get 2 Sky Shadow heads, one for permanent fixture on Overlord, and the other two for piloting and Godmaster positions.

Someone might also release TM with more articulation and the Godmaster emblems but I cwouldnt' count on it since no one's release articulated TM bodies.

Yet these assholes are relying on ancient distribution models at the whim of fucking Walmart of all places, and still can't even put out a series as good as most of Netflix's and lets Cartoon Network shelve their shit in favor for 24 hour, 7 day a week, marathons of Teen fucking Titans Go. How fucking hard is it to get with the times?

They literally have no choice. Their own channel is dead, and Transformers Prime was so expensive it killed the animation studio and made Hasbro reluctant to spend a decent amount of money on any future series.

In the final case I do partially agree with you though. Hasbro does not care because to care would cost money, and with the latest movie bombing and future prospects for the brand looking grim, we are about to enter another dark ages like Beast Wars.

Only, without an awesome show to keep us afloat.

Hasbro isn't making these toy lines for collectors. They make childrens toys, sold in huge numbers, in the hundreds of thousands to millions.
Bandai, NECA, Mezco and Diamond may be able to take preorders because they're selling only thousands to tens of thousands of single figures.

lol, teleporters don't exist. Physical products still need to be produced and shipped. Chinese factories are half a world away and that takes a shit load of time to be shipped, nevermind the manufacturing process. Again, by the time Hasbro actually gets feed back on the current waves, China has already started shipping the next one and started production on the subsequent one.

So what is Hasbro to do? Go waaay out of their way just to please 20,000 collectors, which would increase the cost of their toys by at least 2x and their factories not being able to actually produce better looking toys despite the cost, because that would involve revamping the factories, which would cost even more money.
Or just continue making large amount of cases, containing toys collectors like, and hope everything works out? It's not like the majority of /toy/ even misses out on toys they actually like, aside from a very tiny vocal minority.

Making new molds costs a shitload of money and they are hemorrhaging money whenever retailers order billions of wave one cases, forcing them to cancel later waves of new figures that are one plastic injection away from being produced or chuck them into discount chains at a loss. I still remember that they lost like four waves to Ross during DOTM.

I feel like they are starting to abuse repacks and repaints/retools because making new toys for later waves is always punished by dumb retailers with no foresight.

Mwahah! Foolish dreams!
WalMart orders so much product that they already change the case ratios full of figures you don't even like, all because a figure is a favorite according to whatever marketting WalMart believes, despite kids already owning the figure 3x over. They don't even care if said figure is shelfwarming in all their stores, because they can't or don't want to track each figure separately.
Change is really really slow because of WalMart, who in itself is slow.
Everyone is willing to bend over backwards for WalMart.

And Hasbro will use every single sculpt and mold as much as possible. We already see them releasing long ago planned toys for other lines, like Renegades Roadblock in their SDCC exclusive pack.

The sculpts on the older MPs were always more clean-cut and they had more detail because they were working in a gray area. Now they're strictly accurate to the cartoon and they're painted flat gray/blue colors which honestly looks like shit to me. Especially in Sunstreaker's case. He looks like a dumb, grinning, toothless grandpa wearing a bathing cap.

Surely the Beast Hunters one has a better personality and head sculpt, but Shockblast definitely was more closer to the G1 character design.

I find the only people who complain about tiny heads are people who grew up watching the cartoon. The bots in the cartoons had heads that were WAY too huge for their bodies. I think the MP figures started out with a much better head size standard. MP Megatron, for example, has an almost comically huge dome, to me. Smaller heads on giant robots make them look bulky and tough, which is why I like the MP-10 design so much. His head is nowhere near as tiny as people complain it is, but it's small enough to make him look buff as fuck.

Hasui has commented on the sideswipe/red alert face that he was not happy with it. The face is a lot better in his scetches but apparantly the mold maker/artist did not cut it as per his instructions.

I decided to go mano-a-mano with MP arthritis over here and loosen every stiff joint I can. I found out that those gold plates on his thighs that obviously hide some screws and keep you from disassembling his less are literally just frictioned into place. Not glued, not tabbed, not even tight, just dig your finger nail into the edges a little bit and they'll practically fall off and let you get him apart no problem.

So yeah if you ever wanted to loosen your MP Cheetor's leg joints just poke them a little bit and it'll come apart

I wish Hasbro didn't already do Alpha Trion for TR. He would've been a great choice for a leader class figure in POTP. A5 to Alpha Trion. Vector Prime could be a retool of it. It is a bit lame that we will only be getting the 13 as Prime Masters and not full figures.
