>>6481071>>6481072I strongly disagree for two reasons. First, the cast size. The more main characters there are, the less time each has to shine, develop or just be appealing. And with the tamer-digimon dynamic the cast is doubled, resulting in even less time for the mons to be marketed. Digimon Adventure suffered by a large cast of 12 regular characters (later 14) plus the arc villains and their lackeys.
Second, the protag-fighting partner dynamic. It's bad. Really bad. Nobody cares about the protagonist. He is a little shit who yells all the time. A glorified cheerleader who is powerless to do the thrilling, attention-grasping part that is combat. People want to be the power wielder. Take for example all the kids who jumped out the window saying they're pokemon, or the less dumb ones in the playgrounds saying they are pokemon. Nobody ever wants to be the trainer.
Frontier solved both of these issues. Where other digimon shows are about kids going on adventures with their cute or odd pets, Frontier was about kids powering up and throwing down with beasts that could kill a man with a punch.
And while I agree that humanoids can become boring, most of the non-humanoid mons, such as Kiwimon and Kokatorimon, look like plain filler.
