How hard is it to attach a figma head on Spider Gwen? I want a real answer from someone who actually knows, not baseless assumptions.
Anonymous
>>6486424 There are two problems for a simple swap. The head to neck joint is a ball joint, so the diameter must match perfectly for that to work. Not sure if it does.
Bigger problem, the neck itself has a long upper extension going into the head, for looking up poses, which will interfere with almost any other head piece out there.
I say not without some customizing, sacrificing a figma head. Only the bigger, more anime looking ones would be the right size anyways, I think.
It's probably easier to modify a face plate piece to go into the hooded head.

Can someone explain the joints to me? I've been watching reviews on Deadpool and I keep hearing "they're revo joints so they take some getting used to" but from what I can understand they're just big ol figma type joints. Is there something I'm missing?
Anonymous
>>6489575 Modern revols are a mix between smooth joints like figmas and ratcheting ones, which some people have problems with. What people really mean is the way the parts between joints are sculpted, which makes moving limbs around a little weird. Like, all revoltechs have swivels at places like the knees and elbows just like figmas due to the pegs of the joints, but you might actually need to use that swivel to just bend a knee because of the sculpting of the shin and thighs. Ditto for stuff like head and neck articulation, you'll usually have to manually rotate the base of the peg if you want to get the head to tilt on a different axis than forward/back.
Anonymous
>>6489620 Kinda like SHF wrists? I feel like I'm overthinking how simple this concept actually is
Anonymous
>>6489629 That's it exactly, you might have to take that extra step to get the angle you want with some joints. People like to overcomplicate things, and deadpool in particular really is as entry-level as revoltechs get. He's even got regular balljointed hips. The weirdest thing about him is the double joints in the shoulders, which I'll admit are a pain in the ass.
Anonymous

Revoltechs have bootlegs nowadays? I remember just a few years ago you could safely buy them anywhere and not worry about that.
Anonymous
Quoted By:
>>6489575 Like what that anon said.
But more simply, yes the joints themselves are nothing special or so different.
I hate it when reviewers just say oh it's revo joints so posing is difficult.
They don't differentiate Yamaguchi sculpt from other revoltechs is the main problem. The uniqueness of Yamaguchi figures is the angles the pegs of these revo joints goes into the sculpts. They're angled in a way to get the best range and posing out of them, and that can be different from say your average figma.
Anonymous
>>6489676 I think it started, and still is limited to Western IPs like SW, TMNT, and Marvel Comics. Not sure if all the Sci-Fi/Movie Revo Iron Man stuff got any.
When it was mostly Japanese IPs, and the revos themselves were fairly cheap, they didn't bother bootlegging them.
Anonymous
>>6489739 >When it was mostly Japanese IPs, and the revos themselves were fairly cheap, they didn't bother bootlegging them. Probably because most JPN IP's are FoTM shit, or old school shit that won't sell to a Japanese audience because it's not FoTM. Meanwhile, the Western audience will choke down ten thousand Marvel comic variants with a smile and ask for more. They're much less finicky.
Anonymous
>>6489861 Kaiyodo hardly ever did FOTM stuff. And as for old school characters, who else would buy them but the Japanese?
I don't think bootlegs have that big of a market in Japan anyways, it's all aimed towards other foreign countries who doesn't want to pay the proper price plus shipping. So might as well mass produce crap they want. Speaking of FOTM kind of curious which figma gets bootlegged over which characters.

Now we wait and see how the Wolverine and Captain America body type works out because they have some changes. The double 6mm shoulders seems to be unchanged so I'm glad about that. I thought they might have gone single joint due to the articulated shoulder blades. Elbows will be the Mini joints from Magneto and on so that could be slightly better. I think it just allows the full bend without the necessity of the joint bulging out though.
Anonymous
How's the Vash the Stampede revoltech? Thinking about getting one.
Anonymous
>>6490219 He's good. All the articulation points are revolver joints so no real surprises with handling. The figure is pretty tall too like the recent revos. The only issue may be that since the 4mm for the coat flaps are weak they might not hold up the whole strands up in some dynamic posing. It can hold up the bottom segments perfectly well, but two segments at the waist it's too much weight. Sandwiching piece of tissue paper or something might do the trick though.

I don't have the MGSV minis, but I'd put peace walker snake dead last, he's just a mess.
Big venom would probably be at the top if he came out like a year after he did when yamaguchi learned how to make balljointed hips. He's got great sculpt, a ton of accessories and his articulation is 80% of the way there, but he constant cowboy stance really hurts him.

for me, ignoring the Minis, which I think the are all equally good from each other, excluding the Soviet soldier. Vulcanlog Venom Snake is just so well made I think it's the top. Comes with lots of option parts too. If Raiden had 4mm wrists it might tip the scale, but he is harder to get now than the strangely unsuccessful Vulcanlog Snake, which you may find it on a discount, so win win for us.

Eyes are kind of difficult to move, and I had to move them to try and abate the thousand yard stare she had coming right out of the box. Second was her lack of hands. Holy shit, just the open hands and the sword fists? Thats it? Thats figma tier lack of accessories in this day and age. Have a shitty pose to go with it, still fiddling around with her. Figure looks beautiful and all of her joints are fine.

I'm a big fan of the MH games, and I can tell you, stats-wise, the sword she comes with is absolute garbage. So that kind of disappoints me that they chose that one for her, given theres other Kirin weapons she could've had. I'd have loved the Dual Swords. Was hoping she'd get a Lance or Gunlance or something, personally, I love the Gunlance. This makes her the 3rd (or 5th, I guess, if you count recolors) GS using MH revo.

Anonymous
>>6493429 Well, luckily, I have someone who could give her replacement hands, because they match the brown: Cattleya. I can also give her replacement...Other. Parts. As well as a result.
Also, a little insight into why her GS is bad: In Monster Hunter, weapons are either raw damage, or element+raw. But raw damage is calculated differently from elemental. Now, elemental damage isn't bad, as long as you're matching the elemental damage to what the monster is weak against. However, due to the way the damage is calculated, elemental damage works VASTLY better with fast hitting weapons: Dual Swords, Sword & Shield, Charge Blade, Switch Axe, etc. Basically, if your weapon is light and fast, you want to go for the elemental damage more than the raw.
Greatsword is one of the worst weapons to have an element on, because a weapon having an element in the first place means something else is going to be weaker-Usually the raw damage. And GS's are total whores for raw damage, because thier skill set actually multiplies the raw damage they do. And atop all of this, GS's are slow as Hell. So elemental GS's are just absolute garbage all around because you're sacrificing the stat you care most about, for the least influential thing you can possibly put on a GS.
So tl;dr Gamewise, the GS they gave to the Kirin Girl is pure garbage. To make matters worse, it's also *very* annoying to make, in game, requiring a ton of the rarest materials off the Kirin monster. I'd post a pic with all of this, but I'm currently shoving food in my face and don't want to get anything on my figure.

>>6493554 >Yamaguchi is their main sculptor Well think of it this way. Revoltech is an action figure line. He is probably the best sculptor for coming up with tricks to achieve high range of posing no matter what the design is, with the construction/budget of the figure. So I get why he is the main guy. Almost all of the Vulcanlogs had him design the articulation too if he wasn't sculpting them.
I think the biggest flaw in this strategy is, you can't really appreciate the poseability unless you have the figure. I feel like people only focus on "ahh ugly joints showing!" and/or "looks nothing like source!" from the official photos.

They're also busting out new cape-tech with Magneto, and that was always a big concern with Guts, who has his big black cloak.
Guts is also a rather popular seinen character, so I can see them going ahead and making him even if there's a figma on the market. It aside, there's very little competition. I mean, they went ahead with Deadpool right alongside several other companies.
I guess if I did want a cute girl, I'd want one who's also in an action series, to play to Revoltech's strengths. Bayonetta's the top pick for that, but I'd also like to see how Okami Amaterasu would turn out, since she's an animal character with a unique look. I also personally feel like Senran Kagura has good potential, like a successor to the older Queen's Blade figures. They could even bring back castoff clothing and it would work perfectly for them.

And Revo tends to stay away from what figma has touched, for whatever reason.

Anonymous
>>6494319 >went ahead with Deadpool They were way ahead of...one company really.
My point was Berserk is an old IP that they had plenty of chances and chose not to, and Kaiyodo doesn't really do what's popular but more so going for what hasn't been done.
And they are good friends with the folks making figma so I think it's unlikely especially now to butt heads with them making a "better" Guts while they are actively making new figures. Maybe when they seem to be done with the IP Kaiyodo could pick it up.
For girls, I really want them to do Cutie Honey. I don't think Bandai ever will and even then will be half-assed. I can't get into Senran, on that same boat I think Ikki Tousen is way more interesting. And in the same Hobby Japan family Bikini Warriors and Seven Deadly Sins are superior successors to QB.

>>6503300 I'm sure the price had more to do with how many they produced. God Hand were not something the average collector would want so they need to jack up the price per item. Which is what I feel like is the biggest problem with figma. It's cool we get characters we would normally not see but if it's so niche that they sell so few of them that the prices needs to be high to see a little bit of profit, then what's the point?
I think Kaiyodo has, or had a strategy of keeping the pricing relatively the same regardless of difference in production amount. Profits form the super popular Character A would cover the loss of less popular B but the have the same pricing. I think Vulcanlog failed because they took the figma method, hence we saw big difference in prices.

>>6499691 >>6499700 There's always that one big ass Rathalos toy that people used to drool over. It's still not to proper scale with 1/12s, but it does look a hell of a lot better than the puny Revos and makes for a decent looking battle scene. Seems to be pretty well articulated too. The aftermarket prices are beastly though.

>>6502740 I bought Kinnikuman for this very reason. With the blank head on, he makes for a pretty good generic blank figure. And the articulation on him is fantastic--his hips already work well for a Revo, but putting in the new balljoints would make him even better. He'd be a good template for a base body figure.

Anonymous
>>6505104 I had this one before I gave it away. It's almost SH Monsterarts quality, they even molded the bottom of the feet. The only bad thing about it is that it can't really lean forward or balance at all without a stand. The wing membranes are rubber which is prone to tearing as well. You can probably avoid that if you're careful with spreading its wings though.
It's a very good Rathalos toy all in all, if you have the bones to get it and want it that much buy it.
Anonymous
>>6505169 I would really call that a "bad thing," cause it makes it sound like it was a fuckup on the manufacturer's part. It's more like in a toy that size, leaning forward like the Rathalos does is going to be a near physical impossibility without stand support.

So I just got Vulcanlog Kirin yesterday and it turns out she's J. Geil's hot sister or something (thankfully, holding hands do not have this problem). First time buying from amiami, too, so I didn't save the shipping label and now customer support is asking for it. How fucked am I? Are there some hand parts compatible with Revos I could buy to fill the gap? I know you can buy gun-holding hands for figma. I just seem to have terrible luck with Vulcanlogs. I got Venom Snake, love him to bits, but he came with a broken leg joint I had to pin cause the seller was a bitch who never replied to my messages.

>>6510707 FUUUUUUUCK YES now I don't need to go bankrupt trying to buy 20 Revo Takeya Skellies so I can build bone men. This is the best news ever, I hope these come out in time for Halloween.

>>6510717 Oh, I should've explained a little huh.
This is just a display from Kaiyodo's head store. They have a machine there for 500 yen you get essentially one of three parts of the Takeya Skeleton. And nowhere else.
...They had so much overstock they need to take drastic measures to get rid of them I believe.

Also, it's hard to believe they needed to get rid of overstock that bad. I thought the Takeya skellies sold rather well, especially judging by their aftermarket prices and the fact that they're perfect army/parts builders.

Are Venom and Gwen from revoltech good for lewd posing? Kinda like Gwen curves in that version, but should i buy Venom too for extreme lewd?
Anonymous
>>6512671 Gwen being just a girl in a skintight suit should be decent, she's definitely got the range to be good for most lewd poses you'd need.
Venom's tentacles aren't especially useful for rapey stuff as much as attacking or just looking imposing. I'm sure you could get some good stuff with that tongue, though.
That said, Venom is also one of the most awkward Marvel Revos to try posing so getting him into such positions might be hard.

>>6513368 I think Gwen was so rushed and was a clear afterthought, it's not a good example to judge things. Recent tweet by Yamaguchi mentioned how Magneto's face will slightly change for the final version, so it's very possible Cap's face could look different.
And there was Venom Snake where promo and final face was completely off.
This is all sculpt talk btw, with paints yeah those samples tend to look better than the mass produced final product just because of the effort put into them.
