just finished bag 7 last night, i'm going very slowly, mostly due to lack of time

i'm thinking that i want to add on another 16x32 and connect it to the side so that it makes a little more sense rather than figs having to "teleport" past the wall to get to some of the sections at the back without having to go all the way around

(also nice moisturiser, pls no hot glue on ninjago city)

A few times LQ has mentioned he uses a Canon Powershot Elph, since it's small enough to get up close and personal with figures. YMMV, speaking of him may summon him. You also may want to try following the guides he's posted for getting better quality photos before investing a ton of money in a new camera. I'll dump those, starting here.

Did anyone elses baseplate get bowed after placing the water tiles in their ninjago city build? It had a slight bow before but I oriented it in such a way where the weight of the set should hold it down but now the back corner is bowed up and there wont be any weight there

Yeah, honestly it doesn't bug me as much as it should. I have a couple of millimeters of lift in the back corner, even with all of "Old Ninjago" sitting on it (bags 1-6)
The front corner (where the 4x4 technic round brick is) is experiencing the same, as I don't have enough built to set on top of that front pillar yet and hold it down.

All that tells me is that every tile is slightly warped, and their combined force makes it noticeable. I'm sure it's within tolerances for TLG, but all that tells me is that they ought to decrease the tolerance, specifically so they can keep making top-dollar sets like this.

Because most of the people who can afford to pay several hundred dollars for a lego set are the ones who like having display pieces, not the ones who want playsets.

Making a playset would make it even MORE expensive, and would price itself out of the market of those who don't need details inside their statues.

The pictures at the top of this thread are the first leaks we've gotten, other than the teases TLG has put on their Twitter, and the confirmation on Facebook.

The new falcon is about 2400 parts more than the old one, and with the amount of parts it would make to build a worthy interior (and the amount of smaller parts they're using to build the exterior, instead of just a bunch of plates) I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't an interior

No one seems to know. Rumor mill was the line was going away, but sells were good enough to warrant more. Some of those zippable sandwich bags, several of them go into large lidded tubs. Smaller bags inside the sandwich ones to protect windscreens, printed and stickered parts (especially STAMPs) from scratches.

Sometimes leave IOU notes in the bags if I need to raid a stored set for a MOC.

I think it would benefit from having more bulk around the cockpit. The problem with this combination of windshield pieces is that there HAS to be something solid and completely in-system going under the pilot, to get the pieces to line up. Originally I wanted a more open design like a speeder bike, but so much bulk has to be added just to get the pieces to line up

I miss 2016. Getting Taskmaster, Carnage, a proper Green Goblin, bigfig Thanos, Ghost Rider, Hobgoblin, SHIELD agents, Scorpion, and Caprain Marvel all within a year or two was a beautiful thing.
Most of these movie minifigs are overprinted and look busy as fuck.

Metallic colors are sprayed onto plain colors, you can see this for yourself if you have any very worn down parts. Metallic silver is sprayed onto light bluish gray, so either someone rubbed all of the silver off, or got ahold of an unsprayed part from lego. Fairly often bricklink sellers have large quantities of unprinted parts.

In most cases, an unprinted version exists in the catalog, and they'll just be listed as plain parts. Check for discrepancies between "Known Colors" and "Lots for Sale". The only exception is when there is no listing for an unprinted version, like most of this shop: https://store.bricklink.com/Jimmystore&itemID=62586651.

And if you really want it that badly, literally buy a Metallic Silver helmet and wash all the metallic off. I'm not familiar with the process but brasso probably works here.

Yeah part of the reason i never really finished it. I hardly ever draw backgrounds.
On top of that, translating IRL proportions to the Lego proportions it's based makes it hard for me to keep an accurate point of reference for things. [spoiler:lit] don't even get started on the proportions of the car[/nospoiler]

No specific part of the figure leaps out at me, it's just the overall contrast. The way perspective was handled, makes them look like a completely different artist did it.

I don't think that concept art can be formalized into a contest, there just aren't that many interpretations that you can make of an image that specific.

I think the fun thing that happened here was the little game of telephone that happened. And THAT can be formalized. There's that starfighter / mecha telephone game that happens on some flickr groups, and we could do that. Each person in the chain reinterprets the last person's ship

Yea, Green and Grey would be great additions. If they have the classic 5 Im fine with whatever else they add. If they have green and grey and missing classic colors Id be pissed. Since it's classic they really better have classic helps, or at least more standard helmets. Whatever passes their breakage/safety standards these days. Simple and clean, save the more detailed stuff for other sets.

I actually have a slight preference for the exterior of the new one. It looks a lot more movie accurate with a nicer finish on top and more tubular design. I like the addition of an actual cockpit piece as well.

The big difference is the new one has an interior. It's quite the engineering feat to build something of this size with a hollow interior. Especially considering it's shape. It's without a doubt the most challenging model Lego has ever designed.

I'm quite curious as to what it looks like inside and how sturdy it feels.

Theoretically they should be able to. They at least designed the parts for the Lego JW video game, as there was a smaller dino body that they used.

I erased the gold printing from one of these visors. It would probably be a little harder on pieces with more complex geometry, but this took probably 12 minutes of scrubbing, which you can do while you're doing something else.

best bet is to look through the trans-red parts selection

Just put this together after seeing your post. You're right about the connections. I attached the entire front array to the headlight stud with a single Technic brick, but it's very sturdy and swooshable.

I have that set.

Although Sluban minifigs are weird, the moped fits LEGO minifigs. It's more orange than yellow and it came in a sprue you have to cut and file the parts, except for the hard rubber tires. You can actually turn the frontwheel handlebar and the kickstand.

There are some interesting tidbits revealed regarding the development of Dimensions and some cancelled plans according to a source in TT Games. Regarding his credibility - he's been trustworthy in the past. Obviously I'd take this all with a grain of salt though.
The patch update released recently removed the exact amount of Gold bricks that would be found in a Story Pack, which was stated to have been a cancelled Minecraft Story Pack with Steve.
How to Train Your Dragon was considered very early even before year 1, but third parties weren't interested.
James Bond was pitched as not just Dimensions but a full game, and a mockup trailer was made, but it was considered too adult for Lego and replaced with Mission Impossible.
Avatar, Despicable Me, Looney Tunes, Universal Monsters, Tom & Jerry, Godzilla, The Smurfs, Thunderbirds, Tintin, Angry Birds, and Shrek were some IPs considered, but most of the third parties were not interested.

Sometimes I think the same about any licenced theme, but... As much bad (like overpriced shit franchise-specific shit, fleshies, name what you ) things they bring, some good stuff the bring as well, like new pieces and recolors, especially, like >>6502024 said, new hair pieces and minifig accesories.
But I just wish licenced themes lived for no longer than a year or, with rare exception, two and then been replaced with anoher licenced themes, and after some time old ones could return and then be gone again and so on. Too bad reality works the way it's more profitable to stick with same old shit and produce exactly the same set every year for decades, rather then make something new.

Some of these properties are already tied to other brands.

Mega bloks/consrux currently has Despicable Me, and they've previously done sets for How to Train Your Dragon, Smurfs, and Thunderbirds, which were Japanese exclusives.

Coby did Looney Tunes

And just because they aren't currently producing sets for older themes, that doesn't necessarily mean they lost the rights to them.

K'nex and Lego have both done Angry Birds, and the old Lego Studios monster sets are basically unofficial Universal Monsters
