The "better paint" you're advocating isn't even paint, since it's basically a decal they apply to the race and Hasbro has proven it's cheap as fuck, because they've started including it on their Marvel figures while still using regular paint apps. So Hasbro is actually spending more money on their paint apps (but not the QC).

For mass market toys, McFarlane was insanely cheap for highly articulated, high QC, fully painted toys.
