Hey guys, I bought a Bohrok recently and it didn't come with the lid clip. Is there anywhere I can buy one on it's own?

Also why are the Bohrok so fucking cool hot damn

Rakhshi have crappy, predominantly grey color schemes, but they were the first bonkle set with moving knees, making them kinda groundbreaking, and I like the snake-like design quite a bit

Rebooting the story was a good idea but they failed to add any intrigue to the setting this time around. The island of Okoto wasn't a mysterious, intriguing, occasionally ominous location, it was just a stage where events happened. A mere backdrop. The Protectors weren't fleshed out characters, just vessels to get the Toa started on their quests. Even the mask powers are sterilized, neutered. Generic. Six masks of elemental powers. Six masks of unity. Six powerless protector masks. Everything about G2 was designed around templates with no room for creativity, little reason to favor one character over another. Just look at the box comics, most of which are LITERALLY recolors with just the Toa swapped out for every Toa, Protector, and Creature set.

Bring creativity back to Bionicle.

-Let the design team run wild with only basic guide lines. No dumbing down their work and no trying to add gimmicks that ruin the sets
-Make the series "adult". Not through sex and violence, but by adding deeper imagery, a more serious tone, more complex characters/motives/situations and more sharp visuals
-Better marketing through a flash or "moving comic" online series, and an online game where players compete and affect the story's outcome. A good story is a ride, but a good story that you're participating in is an experience
-Masks, masks, masks
-Waifus sell. More waifus
-More diverse sets with riskier colour schemes and builds
-No theme years (underwater year, everyone flies year etc) and no jumping to other areas every damn year

Honestly CCBS would be a fantastic building system if TLG would just make some new fucking basic parts instead of recycling the same foot pieces, same basic shells, and same skeletal frames, though the Uniters' custom torsos were a step in the right direction. I am so unbelievably tired of these shells.

Building on this, what if they made "The Bionicle Movie" in the same vein as Ninjago and Batman, making it part of the same universe, and made sets to go alongside it? It would definitely be an interesting way of putting it back in the spotlight, generating more interest, and then making a legit Gen 3 if the Movie and the "Bionicle Movie" sets did well.

Keep the CCBS-Technic integration like in G2. Like someone else said, CCBS needs refreshing, a larger parts library with more colors for added variety. Ideally, most of the pieces should be available in most colors, but that's unlikely, because Constraction doesn't get as many sets as System does, so its library of parts and colors is bound to be more limited. This is why CCBS almost feels like an idea that's only good in theory. Devising a new uniform system for such a small range of toys seems misguided, so it's no wonder G2 went back to more traditional Technic builds.
Give the designers more budget and let them break away from the standard humanoid sets. Cut the boring, generic spiders, zombies and nondescript beasts for enemies that feel like they could come from any random toy franchise. Make more unique designs like the Bohrok or Rahkshi but with some individuality between the sets. Also, more individualized weapons for each character.

For the lore, keep to the more serious, mysterious roots instead of aiming for generic superficial similarities, but put in some well-placed humor and lightheartedness, like how MNOG did it to make the world more welcoming. Build up a consistent fucking universe, story and plot goal instead of making up shit as you go. Atmosphere and memorable visuals and sounds are key as they give the audience an immediate impression of what the universe is like and sometimes that helps sell even shittier stories. Develop the main heroes and the people around them, give them a home to protect that they actually live in. This is all basic stuff.
Most importantly, make the story accessible for people instead of tucking it away in books no one reads and mediocre Netflix shows no one watches. Make a mainstream cartoon like in your pic, by hiring guys who can write, and have them consult people like Faber to get a sense of what they're working on. Bonkle would need its own Beast Wars that revitalizes the brand after a disappointing G2.

Even if that were the case, why? What do they have to gain by screwing over what should have made them absurd amounts of cash? Bionicle was ripe for nostalgia pandering, and they could have easily improved upon the original story-wise. But instead they underfunded it, gave it very little effort, and provided almost no advertising.

I don't know which side comes out looking more stupid in discussions like this. Lego's team for making a reboot that's so bad that some fans think it was bad on purpose. Or the deluded fans who make up conspiracy theories for why the reboot was so bad.

All the way from the flubbed Twitter reveal to the pointless belated website update in winter '16, the entire management of the line was a big ball of incompetence, because beyond basic set design, they didn't give a crap. Constraction lines haven't been doing that well for ages now, and the wider Lego fanbase still considers them unacceptable, so Lego didn't want to take a risk and gave the reboot the least amount of thought/effort possible.
I'm not saying that there were absolutely no higher-ups who had no interest in Bionicle succeeding. It's a very divisive franchise, so it's possible there are people working at Lego who hate it and maybe wished for it to fail out of spite. But clearly someone was aiming for something bigger, what with the initial reveal panel, the contests and fan interaction. They tried, they were just too underfunded, incompetent, uninformed and had too many things going against them.

Marketing was easily the biggest issue for Gen 2. I don't have a degree in marketing but I know it was close to completely ignored. If they'd portrayed gen 2 as one of their flagship lines I'm positive It would have done better. That'd be the first thing I'd improve on in Gen 3

The set design was a big issue for me. The 2016 toa were total dog shit. both summer waves (especially 2016) were shit and seemed rushed. The 2015 Toa and protectors were cool. same with the creatures. That's another area I'd focus on for Gen 3.

The story for Gen 2 was oversimplified to the point where it was boring. I'm not good at writing in a way that appeals to younger audiences so I can't point out where to improve on this.

I'd add collectibles. like the mask and disk packs. except I'd add different colored toa and protector masks. Different skull spider color packs would be awesome too.

The one thing I thought gen 2 did extremely well was artwork. I'd definitely have the same people doing the artwork for Gen 3 as Gen 2.

Getting Onua on my birthday was such an amazing event... that was ruined when I opened the canister. Toa wasn't shiny-metal colored like on the box. It was boring solid black. I felt betrayed by Lego that day.

Many years later I'm fixing onua to fit my initial impression on him after seeing it on paper.

parts were bought on local radio market - a few LEDs (to chose which will suit the best), battery box for 1 battery (but 3V to save space instead of using 2 1,5 V batteries), on/off switch and an old wire I found. All smelted together or glued (battery box and switch are glued to cropped plastic card piece). shortest axle was split in two and glued underneath.

This assembly fits in Toa'a body piece and still allows gears to work.

Whether that's a joke question or not, here's the rundown because it seems a lot of Bionicle fans are blissfully unaware of the world outside this fanbase.
Bonkle was and has always been one of the most controversial Lego lines and is hated by a huge number of classic Lego autists and normies. It's a has-been, a bygone craze that most people never understood the appeal of, and now it's basically seen as the embarrassing, curly-haired, freckled, redhead aspie stepchild of the company that goes against their public image.
The fact that it helped save Lego from bankruptcy is an obscure triviality. General consumers and Lego System nuts don't care for the things fans like about Bionicle. Most of them don't even know there was a story to the toys or that Lego was in financial trouble around 2000. To the outsider, it's just an odd collection of ugly, violent robots with unpronounceable names that can't be built into anything else, it's failed two times as a franchise and has been made fun of in a successful mainstream animated movie.
Same goes for most of the other Constraction lines. That's why Constraction fans have always been given their own containment sub-forums and threads, because average Lego fans just want to get them out of sight. And it's probably at least part of the reason why Lego didn't put much faith, effort and money into the reboot.

If I were to (hypothetically of course) make Bionicle fan animations starting with the Toa Mata's arrival on Mata Nui all the way up to the first movie, then continue with Metru Nui etc., what should the Toa/Matoran/Turaga look like?

-like the movies, a mix of Bionicle parts and clearly organic musculature
-exactly like the sets, purely mechanical with gears and pistons etc (think comics)
-more organic and humanlike (less Bionicle pieces, smoother, closer to human musculature)

If you wanna stay close to canon, they have to have some amount of organic stuff, but not much exposed. I think the Toa Nuva in MoL overdid it, and even some of the masks had muscles in all the three Miramax movies, so make it less than there.

Personally, I'd try to put recognizable pieces on them to show that they're takeapartible and compatible with each other just like the toys, but I guess that can easily make them look too busy and jumbled and can complicate the animation process.

I was kind of tempted to go with a stylized look after browsing some DeviantArt fanart (who doesn't like thicc Gali) but I guess it makes more sense to go with a mix of the comics and the musculature in the movies (specifially Legends of Metru Nui). I think that movie did the organic parts best.

There's something to be said for redesigns that feel like fresh and unique updates without straying too far from the original looks, but I always had a fondness for the spindliness of the Toa Mata toys. It makes them seem otherworldly, like they're mighty heroes who save you and stuff, but they still look creepy and alien as fuck.

man, Onua really has the best design out of any Toa of Earth ever, I by far prefer him to the Nuva version
with those large mole-like claws, top heavy silhouette and hunched back he really looks like he's tailor-made to dig tunnels deep underground

I don't know why they didn't downsize the joints during the course of CCBS. Mixel balls would have been used alongside the classic ones, and over time they would have increased their part library and become an accepted part of the system.
The size of some sets was getting out of hand along with their pricetags, and to be honest even during G1 it annoyed me how bulky the balljoints were.

Narcissists believe that Bionicle/CCBS is different because with those sets, "you can only build the toy you're instructed to build and nothing else", making it less "original". Obviously this is horseshit, anyone can show you otherwise not just with MOCs, but with the gigantic amount of combo models. Hell, I thought LEGO made that pretty clear from year 1 with the Toa Kaita, Turaga Nui, the *3* different combo models for the Mctoran, and the combo models that came packaged with each Rahi from the beginning. I could say the same about any System set: "oh look, this is a set for a bulldozer, so you can't build anything other than that. Don't believe me? It comes with wheels, treads, and the minifig is obviously a construction worker. What a way to stifle creativity!!"

Meanwhile Technic sets are pretty simple. Every single piece is either a beam/girder or an axle, there's barely any specialized pieces.

The villain designs for the first year were preddy gud. As the years went on they started getting worse, but the big baddies were usually always good. Heroes sucked dick tho.

Researched the HF Year 1 shorts, it had so much potential to be good. I would've given anything to see what it would've been like had the execs not dumbed it down. Apparently it would've been deeper than Bionicle, which would've been a great thing to see.

It's possible the sets had moderate sales, but still lower than Lego expected. That could partially explain why they were so quick to cancel the line. G1 was also canned while the sets were still turning in profit because Lego wanted to end it before sale numbers turned too bad. Maybe similar thing happened with G2?
Not that I totally buy this theory myself, but it's been suggested by some.

Totally! In fact I've made one such build with waist articulation that uses System heads and helmets without them looking out of proportion. The biggest reason I'd be thrilled to see a Bionicle System line is because I could use their heads to make pocket sized articulated toa.

Using Faber would be one right step, but G2 had deeper problems than a lack of vision. Besides, G1 had more people developing the story, so they'd need to make the right picks. And they'd still need to convince both Lego's higher-ups and potential licensing partners to allow the franchise to span out again.

"I'm not going in any details but I got to see some of the 2018 summer sets from the 2018 2HY catalog.
So,here are the most important things:
-No Nexo Knights summer wave which confirms the winter wave to be the last one.
>We do get Unikity sets. There are around 7-8 sets.
What I remember I saw are a bike for the dog character,a big playset castle and some other small scenery playsets.
>New CCBS theme! The new line is similar in its aesthetic with Bionicle and Hero Factory. It's said to have a cartoon and app with scannable pieces. The theme is set in a computer world and we get 4 small robots "good guys" and 4 robots "bad guys". We also get a bike,two big figures TOA size "hero and "villain" and a Titan size monster. They use a lot of new technic pieces and masks. We also have a new launcher.
This is all I got to see. Two new themes and the confirmation of the Nexo Knights ending. I heard there are also some Harry Potter and Fantastix Beasts sets in it. I can't take any pictures and even if I would be able I wouldn't do that to put in danger someones job. Goodbye and I hope you have a good day."

If this is true then it's awesome. We should hear more in the next months and we'll find out if all of this is real.

If they actually do this they've been hearing som feedback for sure. I always thought not making the entry level sets the main characters in G2 was a mistake. In G1 they were essentially just bargain bin stuff. Makes the villains much more imposing by their sheer size difference. Also, Star Wars CCBS is probably dead if this is true, re-release of Vader really stinks of desperation

So 12 sets, which is a pretty believeable number.
But that's a pretty big shift in sets portfolio: more small heroes, return of vehicles, better hero/villain ratio. Closer to the style of HF and late G1, rather than G2's "Let's bet everything on the Toa and neglect everything else". Sounds a lot more reasonable and consumer-friendly to me.

New masks, I wonder if that means they're bringing back the G2 heads, going back to Glatorian-style helmets or something else. Honestly I would prefer if they returned to the classic axle connections.

I think they wanted to bring back 2001-2002's knock the mask off function. That quickly turned old though, especially since it didn't work properly with most figures, and flat out made no sense with the 2016 waist function.

The best thing would be if they just brought back 2003-2008 style masks so to maximize backwards compatibility. G2's mask connection was something I could never manage to get used to, no matter how much it was praised by some. If they can't use the Metru head anymore they can produce a new mold that looks and functions similarly.
Those Brain Attack villains may have been awful, but the way their faceplates connected was a step in the right direction.

How is it too perfect? It's just 12 sets, which is standard for a constraction wave, that should amount to a total of roughly 200 dollars (again, pretty standard).
Small size CCBS was standard fare before G2, when the average set size skyocketed: that's how most HF Heroes were the smallest sets in the wave, especially in 2011-2012.
You can tell they're trying to change the formula a bit after what happened to G2, which to me just lends further credibility to this rumor.

It just seems to be such a different direction than where CCBS is now with these last few sets being enourmous monstrosities with larger shells and bones. Most parts of the system have been getting bigger and bigger, to revert back to a scale more like protectors seems too drastic. A scale like old Hero Factory seems more likely.

Besides that the addition of new masks, a media tie in, and more technic pieces sounds something more like a fan would make up since that's exactly what we want.

You have to blame the marketing and the set designs for that. Aside from Hakann and Vezok the Piraka weren't the niggers they were pictured as. Zaktan was a nightmarish and cunning monster, Thok was a dirty manipulator and Avak was evil Nuparu. Even Reidak, who looked like your average dumb muscle, was actually scarily clever.
I'm not saying they were perfect villains, especially since their motivation basically amounted to greed (which isn't really my favorite villain goal), but they were more interesting villains than most give them credit for. I bet that if they lacked those goofy smiles and weren't marketed like they were fans would remember them more fondly.

Technic integration isn''t anything special since that was the direction G2 was taking, masks/helmets are pretty much a trademark of constraction at this point, and media tie ins are pretty much a staple of Lego and other toy companies these days.
If anything, at least on paper, this new (rumored) theme sounds very by-the-numbers, not that's necessarily a bad thing.

Lots of times. Bionicle G1 in USA iirc, Monster Fighters, the two latest Castle lines, Star Wars ultrabuilds in 2015, and of course HF. These are the ones I can remember right now, but I'm sure there are more.

And I've seen multiple people take the gag in The Lego Movie as a jab, so it's not an impossible interpretation to make even if it wasn't the creators' intent. One shitty old article even claimed that Bionicle was a failure and that Lego was poking fun at itself with the scene. Back when IMDb still had forums, there were people there who said they burst out laughing at the gag because they hated Bionicle so much and they saw it as validation. Some foreign dubs even changed the meaning of the line from "others we don't need to mention" to something more negative that can more easily be misconstrued.
