I have seen model makers on Youtube use Tim Gore's Bloodline and Iwata Com-Art which is airbrush acrylics but should work exactly the same.
Thin your paints with some water or alcohol, thin coats are better, dry faster, look sleeker.
If you want to make the eyes very realistic you can use pearlescent ink, or glossy paint to make the eye shiny and "wet", or apply a thin layer of a gel clear epoxy.
Other useful techniques are for example drybrushing, just getting a coarse not so fine brush, dip in paint, give some dabs on a cloth to remove almost everything and just use what remains on the bristles. It's good for hair, rough surfaces and such.
