Thats actually one of the nicest modern Zord combos, really. And 3 zords isn't that weird,a lot of early sentai teams used 3-man teams, and while the team does grow later its not uncommon to see smaller Zord combos.

I would say if anything the problem is trying to add too many zords. Besides, the best Megazord is a two zord combo, tops.

I agree. However my complain is not about 3 zords but about design.
Its so goddamn awful. they all look like happy meal toys with battery gimmick.
Older zords always looked like cool transformer toys

I think Kyurenoh is pretty cool though. Granted it's even MORE gimmicky.

I've grown used to the design, but I really feel like they could have done so much more with the theme rather than use that awful orb gimmick.

Pic related is still one of the best looking, awkward name notwithstanding.

Bandai stopped importing the costly Japanese toys and instead started making cheaper/smaller versions stripped of the gimmicks.

The battery gimmick was actually a fun way to mix up the zords/mecha to do either show based combos or come up with your own.

The only issue I had from a design aspect was I felt they could have used a little bit more detailing, but they look great on display.

You do realize that all the designs were done by the Japanese, right? Toys included. They copypaste that shit for the American toys.

Also, as for 3 zords, Ninja Storm did that too, and so did Dino Thunder. Power Rangers in Space was ONE zord, the whole mothership. This is far from the first time Power Rangers/Super Sentai has done this.
