IMO Minky is not super beginner friendly. It's hard to sew on without a walking foot, and shifts a lot if you don't go overboard with the pins. I suggest starting with fleece. Just don't use craft felt. It tends to pop at the seams when you turn it.
When making your own pattern, do NOT test in fleece if the final will be Minky. Ohhh man did I learn this lesson the hard way. They don't stretch the same,so patterns made in fleece end up super fat in Minky.
>>6584896Shockingly, I found decent minky on aliexpress. It's got a 1.5mm pile instead of Shanon Minky's 3mm pile, and comes in about twice as many colors. Unfortunately, it has an awful chemical smell until it's been washed. I'm not 100% sure the fumes are safe and nontoxic.
