They aren't standardized, at least the recent releases don't headswap without modding. I don't think Yamcha ever wore an undershirt with his Turtle gi anyways though.

I know a lot of people are wanting to get a Bulma figure but how well would that actually sell? Because I was just thinking about it and honestly if she didn't have some decent face plates or interesting accessories, I'd probably skip her in favour of Goku 4.0

Huh your right, he even wears it in the manga when training with Kami. In any case, he probably won't be able to headswap with the old Goku's, but should be able to with 2.0 releases. Gotta wait on new Son Goku/SSJ Goku I guess. I don't think SSG has a turtle logo, plus its a weird shade of yellow anyways.

Just wanted to say I'm glad these figures are being made, but these are very likely prototypes and they will not look this good in production. The figures from NYCC are more than likely production figures, and you'll notice a few differences, notably the hair being much more dulled at the ends. I'm really excited for these, but understand that our laws do not allow hair to be so pointy on toys.

They seem to be listed for March and April at the moment, btw.

They're not even really that bad to begin with, if you as me.

The faces could be better, but when it comes to ab crunches on domestic figures, more often than not they barely afford any more articulation than the figure would have had without them.

I actually really like the Dragon Stars, but I dunno if maybe that's something in my subconscious just finding them quaint in comparison to the Figuarts, but I actually like them a lot. They're pretty solid for $20 figures, and they don't use cheap, gummy plastic like a lot of figures at the same price range. Paint apps are all pretty good, and the articulation they do have is standard, to slightly above standard for this price range.

I think the issue is that Black's Rose hair isn't altogether accurate to the show and this is probably only because it's intended for reuse for Goku Blue. God Goku gets a bulkier mold because it will be reused for every Goku. It's cost cutting and that bugs a lot of people.

I gotta say, seeing these figs hitting US brick and mortar stores made me watch DBS again. The first few rehashing episodes coupled with the worst animation quality really put me off from the series. Started again after the Gold Freeza arc and have been enjoying it. I picked up Freeza and ordered an Awakened Goku from Amazon. Scaling looks pretty decent with them. I would rather see swappable heads than BAF in the future releases though.

Sure the DS is missing the toe articulation and the torso articulation but it has bicep swivel which is one of the glaring flaws of the original Trunks Figuarts

You can still rotate the arms at the shoulder. I only own Frieza so I can't say much else about these figures but the head articulation is terrible, the torso articulation needs to be forced in order to actually have any movement and standing is almost impossible.

Still no SHF Figuarts, not even a Figma. Only Irwin Toys from the early 2000's ever cared enough to make 3 articulated figures of her, DB with display bike and Uzi, Namek Saga Bulma, and Buu Saga MILF Bulma.

Bandai seems cautios about releasing girls lately. Ex-Aid has had a dozen or two releases and prototypes but none are the female Riders. The waifu SHF lines (Aikatsu, Sailor Moon, Precure) are all web exclusives now. Naruto still hasn't released Sakura.

I hope Bulma is getting a lot of requests in polls because they might think DB fans only care about fighters.

Bandai is so weird in having two branches of the company doing completely different things. which in a way does make sense, yeah, different markets and all, but you'd think they'd have a set of guys who do all the sculpting and design for major DB merch from both coasts. Maybe it'd help on both ends, from refining sculpts, to efficiently streamlining articulation for cheaper figures and making more complex figures more sturdy.

The figures didn't sell well initially. None of them really did. However, Super is gaining momentum outside of Japan, and since SSB Goku went from shelf warmer barely selling at $30, to being over $100 now, I'm guessing the other figures will eventually follow as time goes on.

That's really kind of the case with about 99% of the figures in this line anyway, though.

I don't particularly like GT myself, but realistically, if they're willing to make movie figures, Xenoverse figures, and go this deep into Super I'm kind of surprised they haven't done any GT figures yet. Especially since they've actually shown off some GT protos before.

I'd even probably buy SSJ4 Goku and Omega Shenron if they made them.

Nothings wrongs with them, just anon being an elitist fag. They don't scale very well with figuarts, just a tad bid taller and bulkier. But I do have Perfect Cell and he look better scale than the figuart version. Goku's face is at his chest level. He has some thunder thighs though.

Before you buy it or abother anon does. The DX set with both krillin and goku has different colors on gi and flesh than the normal separate release version. I would recomend the normal releases.

No prob. I forgot to mention, even though the kits should be easy to build, you probably want to buy a cheap HG Gundam to practice on first(a zaku or IBO grunt are probably cheapest). Its easier to stomach fucking up on a $10 kit than a $30 one. Plus you can play around with top coats.

Is SSG Goku even officially out in Japan yet? I've not seen any consumer reviews or unpackaged ones yet, only the early reviews and one sent out to reviewers and whatnot within the last week or so.

Usually, BBTS gets their figures 3-4 weeks after they release in Japan, which is why my bet would be near the end of November for his Bluefin release.

Its basically a placeholder date until they get a more accurate one. If you know a figure is coming out in Japan one a month, you can pretty much guarantee that it won't be until the next month until it arrives at US retailers.

So I got the kaioken goku, and this is my first dbz figure with this particular body mold. The knees seem to lock when I bend them all the way, some of the plastic on the lower leg overlaps with the top part. Feels like it'll break if I try to force back to the neutral position. Is this common for this body mold or am I just unlucky?

The line began sort of as an all-stars line covering the most popular characters and appearances without trying to make an actual group with some exceptions like the androids. Thats the reason I think so much of the Buu saga stuff has been delayed and GT stuff even more. Be ready for Ginyu force to be web exclusive if we do get them, though.

All these super characters (which i guess you're calling movie characters) got released without a hitch, while guys like buu and gotenks have yet to escape from proto hell.
I'm not trying to say i'd RATHER see another DBS character, but it is absolutely more likely than a Bulma getting released anytime soon.

Nor am I the original guy who responded to you, but you'd have a case if they really did fast-track more characters. Other than Black, there's nothing. Not even prototypes for us to even speculate.

In fact, we already seen plenty of Super prototypes (Vados, Champa, Jaco) that never came to be anyway.

Also, he's right though. Figures like SSB Goku, SSB Vegeta, Beerus, and Golden Frieza were fast tracked when the movies were still relevant and new, and Super was barely a thing yet.

Whis, and especially SSG Goku they took their sweet time with. According to what you're saying, you'd have thought we would have go SSG Goku ages ago.

Can someone please describe to me exactly why its so important to some of you guys to only have one version of a figure? The concept is just bizarre to me.

Like, you sit there and mull over which figure is the best for a character to get the one that you think is best...why? Especially for a thing like Dragonball, where each character has shitloads of forms, or different outfits every arc. Do you live in fear that once you finally decide on that perfect figure that a week later a much better figure of that character gets announced?

I sincerely don't get why this is so important to some people.

Not that guy but I decided on that rule when I first started collecting to prevent the floodgates from opening and just buying everything. Honestly doing the research to determine which figure I think is the best adds to the fun of collecting. I have a limited amount of space for display and the one per character rule also helps manage display space.

That guy reporting in. I personally limit myself to a single glass detolf and a shelf. I collect only 1/12 shit, so it's a decent amount of space, but I figured over time it would clutter.

Every year I take in 3 or 4 new series I enjoy, and usually 1 or 2 figures are released from old shows I like. As such space becomes a premium, even if I only end up getting 6 or so new figures a year. After a couple of years I imposed the rule to save space, the only exception are 2 or 3 series I consider my absolute favorites.

Now that we finally have serviceable Gokus, I'm imposing it early because of this rule, and also I feel displaying multiple versions of a character next to each other doesn't look the best, unless it's certain circumstances. Like a Kamen Rider display of all the forms.

I guess the issue of space makes sense most, if you don't have a lot of it.

I just know there are people who are weirded out by the concept of having multiples of the same guy in a display, which just seems strange to me when its totally different forms or outfits or something.

Then you have that, plus Super Saiyan 3 Goku, where do you pose him in relation to the others, maybe he gets positioned to another shelf, okay, that makes more sense.

But if you have Goku Base, Super Saiyan, SS3, God, and Blue, well as a group you can do a cool thing. To be me I need to have some weird balance for aesthetic if they occupy similar space. Maybe I have Goku Black and Goku Blue, "Well okay..." I think, "...they're different characters, it makes sense."

At least that's what it is for me, maybe it's not the same for others, but I kind of over rationalize my display sometimes. Like I said.

Retail preorders are usually around the 1st of the month, 4 months in advance. Exclusives usually list on Fridays, 5-6 months in advance. But there are always exceptions.

In the case of Frieza here it could be anywhere from 2-30 days, but it's unlikely it will happen this week because we already have leaks of other exclusives (Thor stuff).
