Do you guys buy multiples of the same character? I have Alternate versions of some characters.
Megatron ,Soundwave, Shockwave
Ultron, Spiderman, IronMan

However some guys I just don't need multiples of. I look at Star Wars and I have already all I need unless its a new character.

I will buy another Thor if its from a different age (or if its She-Thor). However how many Captain America figures do I need?

I can't help but wonder if toys are over saturating the same characters. Do kids want multiples of the same guy?
What do you guys think?

I've made a conscious effort not to buy multiples of the same figure with the exception of army builders like Stormtroopers. It makes picking exactly which version I want more fun with all the research that goes into it, though sometimes it is agonizing trying to pick which form of a Kamen Rider I like the best.

As for kids, I won't pretend to know what they think but I can't imagine they are army building. That seems like an adult collector type thing that parents buying toys for their children wouldn't understand or would dismiss as unnecessary.

I buy multiple of the same characters mostly if it is on clearance or just cheap (Five Below cheap) to modify.

For the regular price or premium price it will take me a while to consider to buy again.

if i have to buy some expendable redshirts though, my army limit is 3. otherwise i use my imagination

The wave assortments sometimes make it frustrating to army build. They always pack more of the popular characters and less of grunts. It's way easier to army build Finn than First Order Troopers.

If it is a red shirt character and you would like to recreate a scene as opposed to just a military archive display of statues, then army building is justified. I will say no more than 3-6.

However, I would only army build things that are no more than 15cm tall and highly articulated. Army building static stuff defeats the purpose unless it is a ceremonial soldier that is usually in formation.

Its a shame the Jurassic World toy line was mostly terrible, the only things I was satisfied with were the Lego sets, the Hasbro stuff was mediocre at best. I'm not expecting much but hopefully if there are toys for Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom that they're somewhat better. I think Matel has the license now, so I wouldn't hold my breath, but they might give us something good. At least there will be more Lego sets...

I've got 20+ Snake Eyes and multiples of a bunch of others. Different lines, versions and scales.
If a better version comes along I'll upgrade but I don't always let go of the old one.

New kids are getting into, growing out of, losing or breaking toys all the time. So it makes sense to have toys of popular guys out there.

I'm a big fan of Batman the animated series and a while back I saw that they were doing a 'Batman expression pack' with capes and faces so I immediately pre-ordered it. About a month before it was released I bought a Batman figure (so I could actually use the capes and faces) then when the expression pack came out, to my surprise it included a Batman figure... I felt like an idiot. Because I wasted $20 on a figure I didn't need, and because I was willing to pay $30 for what I thought was just accessories. Also I got a second Joker figure in the Mad Love box set, but at least I was aware I was buying a duplicate that time.

Autist here, can confirm. I'm army building Gnaw Sharkticons. I've bought every single one I've seen with 1 exception. I said to myself 'I have too many' and put it back. It's been months but it still haunts me... I'll just be enjoying my day and my autism kicks in and I start thinking about that Gnaw I put back on the shelf... GOD DAMN IT! WHY DID I PUT IT BACK?! I bought one of the hero mashers sets but I didn't really like the huge sockets sticking out all over and the cartoonish styling didn't do it for me either, I ended up returning it.

Come to think of it some of the playskool jurassic world toys for little kids looked alright, though they weren't as good as the imaginext dinosaur toy lines.

Army building was something I had always wished I could do as a kid. I was able to pick up a second Z Putty Patroller at KB when they were clearancing out old MMPR merch, and even just having two of them felt so much more rewarding. As an adult I don't think twice about it, and have even gone back to army build some of those figures I didn't get to as a kid. It makes for much cooler displays.
