I can say without any doubt that I am old enough to have fathered the majority of you that post here, and I've been collecting toys since I was a kid. The only time I ever felt a twinge of embarrassment was around Jr High, when everybody was going through the emotional ad physical upheaval of adolescence, and suddenly things like toys weren't 'cool'. Except I was the one who thought they were still, and caught a lot of mockery for it.
But then a year or two later I made it through and basically grew out of worrying what people think. I still don't.
I'm a regular at the local Shops, though I do most online for convenience sake. People know me, people like me, and if some think ill of me because I buy toys, fuck'em. I don't worry them when they shop at the Sports Collectable shop across from the Comic Book shop, down the street from the Teddy Bear shop, next to the Hallmark shop that used to be a Porn Bookshop.
Everybody has a hobby. And if you feel intimidated by yours, either give it up and let your life suck, or examine yourself, find out why, and do something about it. That way, this topic can stop coming up SO MANY times (sometimes twice a week).
