Pic related just arrived, Primal Prime and a couple of Cyberjets plus some extra Minicons as bonuses for 65 euros / ~75 USD. Did I do well? Considering how all Primal Primes on Ebay are going for twice of what I paid for this lot, it does seem like I didn't do so bad.

Also, does anyone have the complete Cyberjets guide that was posted a few threads ago? These things are lovely, Hooligan might have spontaneously become one of my favorite Transformers of all time.

Of course I wasn't there to see internet "celebrities." Some of us go to cons to, you know, experience the con. The reveals that year were good and 2005 was still being secrets nazis so the details stayed exclusive for a couple days. In the dealer room I picked up some great figures I would never have been able to even find at a regular toy show. Arctic Bruticus is probably my favorite. I don't know if I'd ever make the trip for another Botcon though. It wasn't like some of the pop culture shows where the dealer room is just another attraction. It was very much a toy show (albeit very focused) with a couple of panels. That's great if it's local but I think I need more to justify traveling cross country. They probably tried to make Hascon less like that but the mistake there was thinking people were there for Hasbro versus something broader like sci-fi or comics.

Twingineering seems to be used for bots that are near identical in engineering but share no parts (like CW Dead End and TR Chromedome, G2 sSmokescreen and Energon Starscream, etc) Highbrow,and Scourge share a lot of each other. Windblade gets interesting because she only shares thighs, front feet and the parts that extend said thighs. That's about only 20%~30% of the old mold being used.

Nah, even the tiny original HFG worked fine, they looked like ass, but worked fine, the stability issue some combiners had (mainly the truck mold) was caused by weak hips or knees, not the feet.

I have him, they work fine, again if your bot slides its because it has weak hip ratchets, Superion/Computron has the best combiner hips, so theres no problem.

I dreamed about a toy the other night.

I was at a store, or a convention, I'm not sure. Someone was showing off a toy to me. Power of the Primes Leader Soundwave.

His smaller alt mode was basically a cross between a walkman and an iPod. His larger alt mode was a stereo, which could open up to accommodate minicon tapes. Alternatively, the alt modes could combine by the stereo opening up and the iPod docking into it.

The robot modes were very similar, like Hot Rod's. The deluxe turned into a very clean, minimalist Soundwave, like the Music Label. Then it combined with the stereo to form a chunkier, more G1 robot mode. The minicons could still occupy the chest, as the smaller robot I think mostly just formed the head of the bigger robot. It was hard to remember, as this was a dream. Anyways, before I could see more about the minicons, I woke up.

There's no angle at which light can pass in that Starscream and I doubt they will ever get to make a headmaster with lightpiping because they need the solid block of clear plastic for the light to pass and that section is busy being the headmaster's thighs.

The distribution is also utterly fucked, some local supermarkets still have the entirety of Wave 3 and Leader Soundwave shelfwarming while every now and then we get Wave 4 and Sixshot being briefly spotted and immediately scalped from one day to the other.

As for POTP wave 1, I'm gonna skip the Dinos (hoping for Takara to do them as a box set in Unite Warrior style), and only gonna get Dreadwind and Rodimus (still have my superior RTS Jazz). Optimus is another 'wait to see Takara's deco'. Leader class usually peg warm here anyway (some shops still have CW Armada Megs and Leader Thundercracker on the aisles).

Probably Kup. I got Roddy to go with him, though, and he's not nearly as bad as people claim, and I think his Targetmaster is better. His transformation works how Chromedome's wishes it worked. His colors are gorgeous, I don't know why Hasbro can't into making a Roddy that isn't obnoxious and cheap red and yellow plastic. Burgundy and orange makes the character.

I dunno, something about Hot Rod being such an obvious, forced, executively-mandated character makes me really into the idea that he should be a dude who just unilaterally embrace every gimmick technology in existence, so a Hot Rod that is both a targetmaster and a headmaster makes me a little giddy.

It's very chunky and a big MP as far as those go.
It will have less paint clearance issues than MP's due to the way it disassembles to transform.
He will be covered in paint.
He will be a fun play set rather than a display piece (though he's pretty enough to do that also).
He will look great next to my dia-men.

It's still overpriced as all f u c k though.

Most arguments I've seen towards shockwave are because of being a slave to the cartoon and his color which needs really specific lighting to work right.

He may be all plastic but unlike mp36 it means there is NO chance he can scuff up and his transformation leaves good clearances, and his qc is spot on.

Meanwhile the chrome on my rodimus flaked off from 3 handling, but that isn't what makes them the worst figures, mp36 is a top contender if not for his expressiveness

I own both mp megatrons and while he's a literal flop least mp05's transformation had more of a intuitive factor to it, its the diecast spine and joints flying around that make him a bitch

I still have a soft spot for him, actually. The engineering is atrocious but that's sort of part of his charm, he feels like an over-complicated mess from an era where high end figures were either hits like MP01, misses like MP03 or absolute frankensteins like himself.

He's not unnecessary complex, he's actually the best MP to date. By making his chest not be the actual side of the gun he keeps proper proportions. By not letting his thighs slide into his legs he keeps the grip as thin as it should be. He's masterful.

All mp's have some paint issues honestly. With Mp36 so long as his head doesn't scrape it's not a big deal. The legs are problematic as hell though since they bang together a lot during transformation.

It's tough, man. I really want the new MP just for the Targetmaster, but I figured I'd settle for this to get my dose of Firebolt.

He's awesome detailed, though, looks so nice, like he might belong to a more upscale toyline or something. His sculpt and paint are on point. Some 3P could probably make a fortune doing KOs of all the new Targetmaster dudes and selling them as a set.
