I'm a little worried that at least one of the sets is supposed to be released in 3 weeks and we have no information. It seems like retailers would need to know something by now just to order, and it is terrible business to not come out and announce a product that has rumors of cancellation/regional restriction.

As in the film? Of course it is.

Be advised - if you're not into the art/culture/film scene it might take some getting used to. There are just some films/books/whatever where you've got to have a bit of contextual knowledge to enjoy them. 2001 wasn't a film I particularly enjoyed until later in life after I'd read more and become a little wiser.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand 2001: A Space Odyssey. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer’s head. I have that pack. It's not bad. The other option for collecting troops is seeing if you can find nexo polybags. You could be getting nexo knight colored bricks and troops. I prefer polybags personally.

I remembered making a video review for it, but it looks like I never uploaded it. I then spent all my time to get ready for work on looking through my old files to see if I really did. I did find it, and I might still make it to work on time.

I recently saw the Lego Taj Mahal set, and wondered what else Lego could release scale models of.
I would immediately buy a Hagia Sophia, a Saint Basil's Cathedral, or an Angkor Wat, though the last one might be too grand to make a scale model of.

Dangit, really shouldn't have gotten into another City theme, but there was an Amazon Warehouse deal for the Jungle Exploration set at just 70 bucks. Aside from a slightly dinged box, it was all brand new.

Grabbed the small starter sets to go along with it for free thanks to some store rewards. Got my eye on the Mobile Lab set next.

I wish they'd stop putting stud shooters on everything. "Yay, let me shoot this stud then search the next 5 minutes to wherever the fuck that 1x1 bounced off to". Same for the multi-stud shooters. How ofthen do you want to shood 5 studs with rapid fire, then crawl after them? At least the spring shooter missiles are big enough to not get lost immediately, though half of the time they're integrated somewhat badly into the models. Would be nice, if they could do a harpoon launcher with a thread/rope attached to it (if that Sandspeeder has that kind of functionality in the movie). Then you can shoot the thing off and the thread prevents it from flying into oblivion.

So far I've done a few minor changes.
I redid the detective's office, so instead of the toilet cubical being just out side his office, it's upstairs, removing the kitchen in the process.
I haven't replaced the toilet just yet, but I intend to put a secretaries desk there.

Can I get some pointers on my Panzer IV? Idk if I should make the turret one stud wider on each side?
Or should I narrow the body of the tank?

Just saw Thor Ragnarok-I loved it. I'm pretty dissapointed that Lego didn't make more sets and they are pretty inaccurate. I wish they made the ships.they were more clorfull and interesting than the Star Wars ones. Ok,the PT has a lot of cool ships and X-Wing is cool to but the rest are...meh.

They're gonna be $8 for the Agave, $9 for the Quail, and $6 for the Saguaro.
Or all three for $20.
It was pretty fucking expensive getting all the parts together. More than I expected, honestly.
And I just sort of sat down with pieces to design them. Made a few versions of each, then remade them in LDD, uploaded those to Bricklink, and ordered all the pieces.
Instructions took awhile to fine tune, but I think they turned out just fine.
Had to stage some steps in LDD, since it just loves to throw shit together in such a weird order sometimes, screenshot the step over to paint, get back of the blue background, then pasted it into Illustrator to put it all together. Pic related.
But like I said--A bit more expensive than I was expecting altogether, so be wary.

If you're not interested in the little rooms on the back side, it's not worth that price. This is a playset, not a display piece, and is priced that way... If you're not going to play with it, don't spend the money. Look up the instructions online, order the parts for the dogs from bricks and pieces.

If it's a multi-day event, I would say start with those prices and lower them the next day if they aren't moving.

If it's just a single day, I would be more cautious with going that high. Once you hit $10, you wander out of impulse-buy territory for a lot of people.

Maybe check if slight variations are worth more. I was a bit shocked to see Imperial Shuttle pilots go for 5 bucks more than Navy Troopers when the troopers helmet is far rarer than the pilot hat and aside from the heads which are plentiful available they are identical.

Yeah that was almost an accident. Somewhere I read an interview with one of the designers (not the submitter) and they came across that point. I'm paraphrasing heavily but the story goes
"We decided it would be nice, but not to go out of our way to make it happen. When we finished the design, we were at 1961, so we switched 8 4x2 with 16 2x2, to make it perfect. In the final count, we somehow came up a piece short? But that wasn't including the brick separator, so it worked out in the end."

I bought this set a few years ago for about 600 US dollars, as a sort of investment. Then I forgot about it. It's kind of increased in value, but I don't know if there's much demand for it anymore. This is for the relatively modern, realistic Lego weapons like the rifle, revolver, and others. The flintlock, musket, and cannon elements are categorized as "historical guns". I’ll also be ignoring scifi/nozzle guns, licensed themes, CMFs.

Lego’s introduced the revolver and rifle elements in 1996 with Cowboys, a historical theme set at least a century ago. Although the weapons were used in human/human conflicts, presumably Lego regarded this as something similar to the historical use of guns already accepted in the Pirates line, and let it pass on these grounds. In 1997, concurrent with Cowboys, Lego included the rifle element in the Outback set "Amazon Crossing". One imagines it was intended for hunting purposes, though "Gator Landing" might give a different impression. Regardless, this remains the only use of the rifle part in a civilian setting.

In 1998, the year after Cowboys ended, Lego introduced Johnny Thunder. This theme featured the same firearms and H/H conflicts, but with a more modern setting (~1936, if it was really meant as a riff on Indiana Jones). Johnny Thunder ran from 1998 to 2000, paused, and then resumed in 2003. During the interim, the rifle saw zero uses in home themes, and the revolver appeared only in 2000’s "Explosion Studio", in the hands of either a band security guard or a bank robber. Violent stuff for Lego, though the set was designed as a movie set and not a "real" scenario. Within the realm of home themes, both elements fell into obscurity after Johnny Thunder 2003. The last major use either saw was in Pharaoh’s Quest.

tl;dr: lego is mostly serious about the no modern guns thing, except for licenses

Sell it now. Investment time is generally over because normies started buying everything expensive as well so more of the big sets go around than there is an actual demand for.
Look up for how much the last UCS X-Wing and Ewok Village go for now. If that margin is good enough for you then pray to your god that it stays that way, buy a Slave One or something else current and try again.

In my region you can barely get a profit of 80€ on top of Modular Buildings. I doubt that we will ever see a set doubling in value. I still buy a couple huge sets to keep MISb but more because I am unsure if I even want to keep them so I buy them only with a 20-30% discount and wait until I get a bigger home and see if I still want it or should sell it for whatever it goes then which even if retail price means no loss for me.

I played the game and its quality varies. The Portal stuff was fantastic, and most of Year 2 was at least fun. On the other hand, there was a lot of boring content too, and it was buggy as hell.

You can almost always get 40% off or more if you wait long enough, though. Great fig/parts packs for that price. Lots of unique bits.

It depends on which boards you browse there, same as here. Larger ones focused on entertainment eventually tend to degenerate into shitposting (like /a/); smaller, technical boards are generally solid for actual discussion (like /3/); some boards are containment hellholes (you fill in the blank). The moderation does cut out some of the annoying behaviors you might run across on 4chan, but having usernames creates its own problems. Ultimately, I prefer the anonymized community we have here, but they both have their place.

So I ordered two sets off of amazon, and after some address mixup, \they refunded the first delivery, had me re purchase it, and then sent it again.
However, they sent another one that was going to my old address, that went to the post office. The post office sent me a letter telling me to come pick it up.
So basically I got the same order twice, but only paid for one, and am wondering if I can get away with keeping it. I would love to be able to refund one and get my money back, thus getting it for free, but I don't think this would go unnoticed.

I study art-history, want to get into more classic academic school of drawing. Was brought up by avant garde and conceptual art circle of parents. I don't give a hoot about art. What is considered or defined as art or who may or may not decide what art is. It literally doesn't fucking matter unless you have a goverment trying to subsidize the production of art in a fair way, or if you want validation of your subjective interests by peers within the safety of an objective realm.

Using the term art as a label that possesses inherent quality is silly. However i still like Max Beckmann, Rembrandt, DooM and the 6951 Robot command centre just as much as i always did.

OC stands for "overclock", which is something you do to a computer's memory board to add more gigahertz of RAM power. Since a computer is involved, you'll need to buy either a Mindstorms kit or Lego Boost. Then go to your local Best Buy and pick up some custom memory cartridges. You can usually find them with the flash cards and thumb chips. I like to use the 128 gigabyte ones (that's in imperial; depending on where you live, yours might be in metric, in which case that's equivalent to about 3.2 gigahertz).

Once you've got your Lego computer part and your memory chips, use a screwdriver to open up the part and find the motherboard circuit. It'll be green with a lot of lines running along it. Each line controls one of the computer functions, like memory, audio, visuals, scrolling, saving, etc. You need to find the memory line, which is always located at the top left of the motherboard circuit. if you're uncertain which direction you have it oriented, use an ammeter to figure it out (remember that electricity flows north-south in the northern hemisphere, but east-west in the southern hemisphere).

Then, once you've got the memory line figured out, use a hot glue gun to solder the memory chip onto the line. Be sure to take it out of its packaging first, and that the metal parts are touching the memory line. After that, screw the assembly back together and reboot it. It should be properly overclocked now. You'll notice it runs a lot faster, which usually unlocks some new features. If you've got at least 128 gigabytes of RAM, you should be able to use the algorithmic calculator for basic automation purposes. If you did end up buying that Technic set, try plugging in your newly overclocked computer part for some extreme motorization action!

Im working with a guy who wants to make few specific minifigure keychains to sell as sets.
We going to build them, superglue parts and attach keychains.

The thing is - i found needed parts that can be done to create our character BUT they are not quite common.
So buying tons of those parts like torsos or legs from bricklink might be expensive.

So we came up with idea - just orger clear minifig torso and legs. And then i will design stickers that will be attached to those clear torso/legs.
Stickers will be made of high quality transparent plastic so they supposed to look good.

This is a very "niche" market idea (and the target group are people after 30) but its going to sell in one community.

Im just questioning if making Stickers for lego minifigs will scare buyers away...
Im kind of purist i guess. And i wouldn't buy a minifigure with sticker instead of print.
However the target group of people are neither purists nor even lego enthusiasts...so i guess they wouldnt be triggered by that as much?

Stickers for keychains sounds like a bad idea to me. Put one in your pocket and the chance of peeling the stickers will be very high.

Agreed with the other anon, stickers might not last very long on a keychain.

There are some outfits that do custom lego printing, like http://www.brickinit.com.au/ for example.
