I forgot to hit it at exactly the appointed time but went there five minutes late and it's all the same stuff that's there still. Presumably the test shots sold out instantly but what else did? I ended up not ordering anything because I didn't want to get a bunch of mushi without any joint packs.

I used spend nearly $500 back around 2012 when big drops full of awesome colors were happening. Now I get a figure or two here and there, without the army building aspect I don't see the point in grabbing lots of stuff.

Are they actually gong to make these? That's kind of funny. I always quite liked the look of these kinds of Glyos characters but not really the general look of the figures themselves. Now, like you I'm not sure how to feel about those, but it's certainly something interesting to do.

I'm genuinely surprised there has been so little D-Con talk. Here's a clearer and more level shot, which gives a better impression I think. For whatever it's worth, I think these looked WAY better in person than they do in photos--even my own photos. I went from "eh, maybe" to sure thing as soon as I saw them. The hands are great, with just the right amount of chunk to them, and the extensive amount of chunky new body parts really helps bulk the body up (versus say, Knights or RxH's collabs). I am a LITTLE iffy on the Traveler headsculpt, but I'm eager to see how it'll look with the scarf on.

Also included a back shot in case anyone was curious about that.

Other D-Con news:

- Talked to 1000Toys people, they are hopefully shooting for a march release window for the Onell collab. This may change though.

- a small number of Mori's latest Hades (with the new cannon arm) were made available but I think they all sold out today.

- New Villser colorways--either white with panel lines or white with very pale lavender paint apps. Both seem to have new red and white tampos on the mouth area. I couldn't quite tell what they were going for. It might be like teeth in a mouth, or weathered paint? They're apparently going to be available next sale, so good on you guys that bought white joints last drop. Maybe there will even be a restock.

Oh, also, I was kind of whatever on the KotS collab, but they actually looked really good in person. Very vibrant poppy colors and they were just satisfying in-hand somehow. If I'd had more cash to spare I would probably have picked one up.

Never mind, they just put it up in the store! It's a portal variation, so you'll randomly get one of these. I see now that's it's a fanged mouth, but in person that tampoed area is so small that it has the effect of looking like worn/scratched paint on a red mouthplate, which is pretty cool. It makes me want actual scratched up tampos from them.

DCon was refreshing as hell. After this year of gloom and doom and people moaning that Glyos is kill, it was invigorating to see and talk to other Glyos collectors in the flesh. Just knowing that the people next to you know what you're talking about and are excited about the same shit is great.

Some of them were on the older side too, like white haired old, which surprised me. I was glad to see that even older folks were having fun with this line.

Going off the releases of the others in this line, they look to have repaints and maybe different accessories. Like the Pizza Knights for example different colors, Brick had extra heads but Death Kinight had a cape. Nextman has white/claw, clear / different claw or cannon, black/ handgun. What other colors do you think Matt might do?? Hades for sure with maybe a scar head. Redlaw would be awesome with maybe Sarvos and Phanost heads. Rig Crew might be cool too.

I talked to the guy developing that figure at D-Con, it's pretty tight. Most of the pieces are designed to be flipped upside down or have an alternate rear sculpt, and he made good use of a t-shaped piece to give it ankle rockers.

Only to the feeble minded... they’re junk plastic, and easily replicated by the factory(dozens are literally thrown in the trash).

A Joe collector on HISS Tank with big pockets made a big deal about collecting them years ago to puff up his own ego so some fans think they’re rare or cool and not junk. Somehow this perception filtered through to other fandoms.

It’s even more ridiculous with Glyos which have 3D printed prototypes to begin with. They’re “hard” to get but they can turn out more at any time. Inherently valueless.

It's literally the barest bones shittiest version but FIRST edition of a figure we'll be asked to buy 100 times over in the next couple of years. It's absolutely a scam because he's trying to get as much money as possible from a release of only a handful of figures that will cost less than any of his future releases to produce. Yeah, you're paying for rarity, but the rarity is literally a junk version of the same exact thing in a line built on buying molds over and over again. Only a retard would pay so much for something like it. If he wants to sell a "rare" test shot version(ironic because all glyos are rare) then crank out 50, put them on his website unannounced for $15 or whatever and limit them to one per person, then have the full release 2 weeks later. There's no reason or excuse to take junk factory items and try and hawk them to your gullibe fans who eat your shit up so hey why not feed them more.

Compare prices on ebay to the actual producer's prices. Small markups are acceptable but never pay double or more, no matter how much you want the figure.

Pick up some swing and axis joints, they add a ton of playability.

I can see the super-collector types wanting this, but for me I would 100x over prefer to pick up one of Marty's resin prototypes for the $150 price tag and pass on these test shot sorts of figs. Even then, I'm more inclined to only buy resin if I think there's a decent shot something won't ever make it to the production stage and that's my best/only way to secure one.

But, once again, I get why super-collector types would want this stuff.

We're pretty much overdue for the Neo Granthan head to be retired. I can only hope for no Armorvors in the December drop and then a January drop with a new head design. But, we'll probably just get 4 glyans, 4 nobotos, and 4 villser instead.

What kills me is that Jason sculpted SO MANY amazing Armorvor heads, and instead we got the Neo Granthan, which I don't think too many people liked. It's not a horrible head, but I think the lines across its face were a mistake. They're weird looking, and plus the face is usually covered in thick glossy paint, which really fucks with the closely placed lines and makes the whole thing look doughy.

Heck, I might have even preferred Marty's original Granthan sculpt, which was huge, but had an very strange look to it that I find kind of compelling.

I own 6 or 7 resin original granthan heads and they are some of my favorites in all of glyos. Great look and personality and the size is fine, both for the armorvor and now since we have way more larger bodies like mushi, Villser, etc

as bad as this is going to sound, i wish drops didn't happen this often or had more consistency. Budgeting for drops is getting more difficult, I was preparing for 'Early December' as in Thursday the 7th, but now it's happening before my paycheck even comes in, nice. I've used it for years without an issue. Until September of this year it was 14 days, but now it is only 10 for some reason. Its not a line of credit or anything, they just extend how long it takes until they take the money off of whatever you use to pay for things, like your bank account, cc, or whatever.

Speaking of clear...have any of you guys experienced any yellowing? I have some really old clear parts (like 5-7 years old at this point) and they don't seem quite as clear as I remember. I don't think it's just my imagination, they seem to have a very slight brownish/yellowish tinge to them compared to newer clear figures I have.

The older clear stuff had a slight yellow tint. The more recent few years have had a slight blue tint that helps fight against yellowing that is bound to eventually happen with these. It's just like Nike now putting a slight blue tint on the translucent soles of the Jordan 11s to keep them from yellowing as fast.

Bought a shitload of the translucent cran, none of the copper. I kind of wanted the Enyriun honestly, but my cart was getting too big and I had to hold something back.

So, any speculation on the secret figure this time? Closest to "Fireyden" could find was this, an alien from the Fire Star 1 set. It's a stretch, I admit, but it's all I got. Maybe I'm thinking about it all wrong.

My biggest desire in all of Glyosdom is just for one huge building drop in OG silver, with black panel lines. I know we can never have it because panel lines are still a pricey small-run type deal, and I also know OG silver is probably never coming back. But fuck, it's my favorite Glyos colorway of all time, and it's rough trying to even find pieces on the aftermarket anymore.

Taking royalties might help mainline Glyos, sure, but that would come at the expense of barring little guys from getting into the biz and using a joint system that Matt always made free and available to anyone who wanted to use it. You need to understand, he's like one of the nicest guys I've ever met, he just wants everyone to use what he's made and be happy and make dope toys.

...oh, wait, it just occurred to me, you don't live in the US, do you. Alright, well, international shipping didn't always cost this much. IIRC Matt was forced to switch to pricier insured and tracked shipping after a lot of international packages started going missing. It's unfortunate, but understandable. If you're interested in cheaper Glyos and don't mind the risk of it getting lost in the mail, ask someone in the US to buy and re-ship to you using the cheapest method.

The KM is 26 parts with one of the best self contained alt builds out there, where this guy is only 16, and it just feels like wasted potentially, especially considering the strong sculpt. The arms look like they could/should be at least 3 different pieces, same with the legs which could easily have been 3-4. Reminds me of how the Villser looks like it has more pieces than it actually does.
I'll end up getting one based on my appreciation for the sculpt, but I don't really think more than one is needed. It's just a bummer as I thought it would have far more building potential. I still hope it does well.

I do agree, but then again, I've never liked the look of the Nemesis. It's weird trying to put this into words, but I almost feel like it doesn't fit into the same universe as the Kabuto Mushi or the other Onell sculpts. Something about the angles, the silhouette, the proportions, it feels off to me. Now, I know the actual Glyos-incorporated universe stretches wide, and includes various things that don't look anything like Onell sculpts (Banimon or Battle Tribes, for example), but I think Nemesis strikes me as odd because it's clear that's the look they're striving for. It just kind of misses that mark for me.

Also I just plain don't like the feet. They look unbalanced and ugly in my opinion, and I've never been a fan of designs that balance on their "claw-tips."

Even making several of those panel lines into angled swivels could have added a lot of posing options and opened up building by a lot. I think it looks bad too, and yes the worst sin yet of anything glyos related is the fake joints on Villie and the Nemesis. I haven't been in the loop for a while but I can only assume that these were planned joints cut due to astronomical price rising in production costs. Glyos pieces take up more mold space due to the glyos ports, so every new piece even if it's small takes up much more space than you might expect. If costs have continued to increase the way they were a couple of years ago I could easily see these planned joints/pieces taking another 10-15k to make it happen. Perhaps they've just opted to get the characters out at all. Personally no matter the cost I think it's a mistake-. A great toy with more building potential will last longer and sell more.

You're not wrong, but when you put it this way, I completely understand (if this is indeed what happened, that is). You can't operate outside of your means, and when given the choice to either try to make things work or give up, it's usually better to choose the former. Yeah, it'd be a better toy and have better longevity if they dropped more money into it, but if the money isn't there, what can you do?

It reminds me a lot of how poor folks end up spending more money in the long run because they buy cheap stuff that breaks down and needs to be replaced constantly, as compared to buying one high quality item which they cannot afford.

I can see what you mean in that it's a very pseudo-onell looking sculpt, where the Kabuto Mushi was just really its own thing entirely. And it doesn't really fit the Mushi well at all. It just still bothers me how little building potential there is. The whole reason I own more than one Mushi is because of how many different looks I can achieve with just that one figure, and I don't ever see myself using that Mantis head, which doesn't even fit with the look of Nemesis imo.
I think the thing that make Banimon, Battle Tribes and to an extent the Kanuto Mushi(although it can kind of blend in with Onell figures) work so well is that they're clearly all doing their own thing, for better or worse. Battle Tribes are honestly what pulled me out of my two year hiatus from Glyos, and I really feel like if the execution on Nemesis was better it could've been one of the strongest new molds since the Battle Tribes or Bio-Monster. And I'm not trying to knock Marty, the Kabuto Mushi is still one of my favorite Glyos figures, but the Nemesis leaves a lot to be desired across the board.
Maybe a good deluxe paint job in a future release will make it more appealing, and I'll still buy one from the first assortment just to see if having it in hand changes my opinion.

Got both my Bio Masters and Onell orders on the same day, today! The clear Cranberry is really pretty in person, I was feelin sort of burnt out on clear colors but the silver and gunmetal accents really freshen it up and make it work.

The construction colorway has my entire heart and soul though, and if Onell themselves did this colorway (with the same caution tape tampos), I would drop like $400 easy. Oh yeah, and I bought the little construction bots mostly to take apart for parts, but they're so cute I'm leaving them intact for now.

Fuck. Yknow what? I wasn't into the copper in the photos. But I got a copper freebie with my order, and...it's actually really nice. The swirls in the plastic gather in certain places in such a way that they become this like...dark non-metallic mass that looks like butterscotch and is almost semi-translucent looking. It's captivating. I kind of want to buy more copper now. I got a taste and now I can't resist.

On the plus side, it seems to have been the less popular color this drop, so I still have a full shop to select from!

Yes, really. I think it's due to the insistence on the kind of puffy, undefined lines of the sculpts. It works on the initial glyos verse figures like pheyden, exellis, callgrim, because it's obvious that these are all space suited/armored characters. You don't see those kind of lines in something like the gobon which is obviously more a retro styled robot. Then you have something like the armorvor with very techy obvious futuristic armor shapes and details.

Your stuff and the more recent Onell stuff like the villiser are kind of too vague and abstract for their own good. Are the Mushi in suits? Naked giant warrior bugs? I have no idea. You can say oh, it's intentional, use your imagination, but this is a copout. All the best looking glyos stuff you can look at something and know what it is right away. The stuff TGB puts out makes me look at it and scratch my head. I still don't know where the fuck the face is on a Titan Mushi, and let's not get started on those horribly designed arms.

I don't know the exact breakdown of what went on with bio Masters, but I believe TGB sculpted it but obviously he didn't design it from scratch because if he did it would be a figure of his and not pat Bussey. But again this figure is great because it is well defined. The concept of an advanced techy ball that's collected essence of various creatures and spits out whatever is perfectly realized- the center orb is very tech looking and then all the limbs have an obviously organic feel. I am assuming that this was a decision made my someone other than TGB and something that he was directed on. So once again, a decent sculpt of a great design, but not one of his own.

So to bring it full circle, yes, cool dude, decent sculpter, but his original designs are weak af.

And I think almost every glyos part can be well utilized. Obviously lots of great stuff can be done with the claws, some great crab/scorpion builds with the hands and great dragon/bird/hawk whatever stuff when combining the feet with some wings builds. The body will be cool for some more evil ish characters as anything with a wider high neck gaurd tends to be. And my favorite piece is definitely the stinger, it's the one piece that's specific enough to the figure that's both well integrated and yet able to be swapped into any build and have an impact on it.

I don't hate the figure, and I know the pieces will be useful in some areas. I just wish it were better. How? I'm not sure entirely, but I'm not a designer. It's supposed to be an evil bug, the smooth bubbly undefined shapes look like just giant versions of the arm extenders in an axis joint set, which is intentionally vague because it's add on parts. I feel like this should be a little sharper, more jagged, slimier, perhaps asymmetrical like a buildman. Anything to drive home the villianous concept.

Glyos is kill is a combination of many factors- not all of them are tied to production numbers- it has the umbrella of rising costs leading to worse drop selections, more minimal and arguably worse looking paint apps, lack of new figures and what little new figures there are generally being a let down, shoving them down our throats at 3-4 per drop while going a year+ without fan favorites like phanost, buildman, etc.

But since you brought up production numbers. This isn't the first time theyve been bumped up, back in 2011 they were literally bumping up numbers every single drop, things were still selling out non-stop and they couldn't keep up with demand. The website was broken a couple of times due to all the traffic and demand. They then kept these numbers high once the switch to no paint/"Fisher Price land" started, and things started sticking around, then glyaxia 2 happened and those piss poor sales killed big drops basically forever. Why the boring history lesson anon? To show that conditions during the lead up of increased numbers are no where near the same. I still buy and like the line, but the general performance of it, lack of unified forums or fandom, still feels much more precarious and a lot less exciting than back in 2010-12 when you could really see the line was exploding.

Of those 18, 3 aren’t really that Glyos compatible/proper (mwotr, dud, rotb), so now down to 15 Glyos companies.

Of those 15, 12 of those companies still produce figures, most regularly, with the exception of roboforce and banimon which is only 1-2 times each in 2017.

Only Callgrim (do to his big shirt printing company taking priority), Nistuff 481, and av robot dropping off the face of the earth for whatever reasons which none of us truly know.

So of 15 true Glyos companies 10 still produce regularly, 2 less than regularly, and 3 are mia.

So if my math is any good, 80% of Glyos companies are still producing and 20% are not.

Glyos seems to be far from kill. Too much unfactual speculation and too many years of the same Glyos is kill nonsense.

I bought for 4 figures and shipping was less than $3. Spy Money HS like the cheapest shipping Glyos. It always makes me feel like I'm getting ripped off when I buy from Godbeast or even Onell. I don't really care a whole whole lot about He-man, but I'd already gotten the other three homage figures so I had wanted to complete the set. Oh well.
